Golf course doesn't like rain
Here's what happens at Hackberry Creek CC in Irving, TX, when it rains a couple of inches in this neighborhood.
Not a pretty sight. That is, yes, a 20 foot log going down the fairway into the water hazard in that first scene.
That scene about a third of the way through, where the water is ripping against the base of a tree? The water is coming through the tunnels where the cart path goes... heh...
HCC is built in a former swamp, and the course is the low drainage for the subdivision. takes a few days to recover playability after a storm like this.
cart paths only? Boat lanes only.
Hit the 'full' button at bottom right of the video window to get 720p HD in full screen, if your web speed is high enough. :-)

Good thing is you get a free lift from "casual water"

Nothing casual about this water. It'll kill you. Underneath all the raging torrents are some big underground drain pipes, big enough to make my gargantuan @$$ disappear.
When you see a 20 foot log go by, you have to ask yourself if you're standing too close. :-)
My poor Canon HV20 HD camcorder got a bit wet today, but it was worth it.

Wow that's amazing! Keep the kids and dogs away from that.

I guess the benefit of living in a hilly area is that you dont get that, it could always be worse, it could be covered over with snow....

Uh, no. About four centimeters. But it was snow. :-)

Looks like a good storm water design and great use of the land. I hope there wasn't any serious damage to property.

Nah. Happens every time.
I still wonder where the log came from, though.
It's a great design for six inches of rain, but I am a bit nervous about an 18-incher. Not sure what's going to happen.
-
The bass you're holding, Dave, which fairway did you catch it in? Are bass good eatin'?
-
Bass aren't worth eating. The're just fun to catch. That one was about 71/2 lbs. Came from a lake, not a fairway pond. Just an avatar. :-)
-
YIKES! That looks awful. I'd like to kayak it though. Looks kinda fun. :D
I hope you don't have to see too much of that - would be a shame the way you've been hitting it lately. ;)
Good time to go work on the short game..? :)

Man that is crazy. I saw on yahoo that a teen got swept away and sucked down a drain pipe.

When the water hazards are back to nominal level, you can see the big six foot drain pipes that keep them at that level... they're overflow drains... horizontal openings... but in this video most of them are six feet under...
which is where I'd be if I was in that water.
The best part to me is the cart tunnel pouring out against that tree.. :-) I walk through there.. but that day it was just a water pipe, access denied.

Meh, play around it.
We had a big storm here in Jan. Sea weed, rocks, and other crap almost to the trees on the left of the fairway.
That single tree on the right got blown over..

Hey look, while looking for that pic ^ I found one of some really sexy guy hard at work.
I'd like to meet him some day..bet he's a good golfer too!
-
Whoever he is, he seems to have plenty of balls.
Here's me hitting at my range, on a slightly better day last week. The course is separated from the range by a gigantic drainage canal, probably a hundred feet across. The raging river of Hackberry Creek feeds into that canal.

I've only owned these irons for a few months, the ritual grip-changing time has not yet arrived. :-)
Besides I LIKE these.
I usually use white lamkin crosslines, but these were already there and they feel good and they're the right size and they're fresh and...
I'm just not a fashion victim. :-) IF I was I'd lose weight and dress better.

White crosslines are bad. I fine they have very little tack.
Perhaps you could get some ping MC's ;)
