Did anyone else play in shorts today?
Dont want to rub it in or anything but it was 88 degrees at my t-time today, We had a great round, shorts, short sleeves, cigars, bright sun and cold beer.Any one else get to play in shorts today ?

Great irons ya got there.
I could have played in shorts if my wife wasn't recuperating from surgery and yelling at me every ten minutes to bring her something. :-)
But it would have been nippy. Temp didn't get above about 55 today in Dallas.
But I"m a big fat guy who thrives in the cold, cuz I don't like to sweat. :-)) I don't put away the shorts until it's below freezing.
I realize we have Canadians here on GR who are envious of 55 degrees.. and that's why I made sure I mentioned it.
-
Dave , I wish a speedy recovery for youre wife.
Thanks for the Iron comment, Yeah today was one of those great SoCal days we get here in the fall with the Santa Ana winds and crystal clear skies that i just had to brag.
And to our friends in the great white north, spring is only about four months away...cheers

We may get a frost delay about 10 days a year here in Central Florida. Even on those days we're good to go by 9am at the latest. Snow was on the ground for about 3 hours in '77 or '78. Only snow Central Florida has seen in my lifetime.
-
It's supposed to get up to about 80 today for my round. I haven't decided whether to wear shorts or a down parka.......
Fortunately (at least for me), none of the brush fires have come anywhere close to where we live. The northwestern LA and eastern Orange County regions have been hit pretty hard with the latest brush fires.

Sure did! It was about 84 in California yesterday. We teed off at 7:52 and finished around 11:30. Perfect time for a nice cold beer after. Cheers my friend.

I'm with you on the short until it's in the 30's. Every year I go to AZ in Dec/Jan and watch the locals in the coats with hand warmers and it's almost 50* out and with the high in the low 70's. I'm in my shorts and short sleeves drinking iced coffee.
This weekend in beautiful in Portland, 60* high and sunny - shorts for sure. These days are numbered up here for the next 3 months. Our season is over and HC posted is closed for the season. Too bad too because I shot a 77 yesterday and the drives rolled out about 10 yards at most. Greens were shiat.

I suppose it goes without saying, but here in the southern hemisphere it's definitely shorts weather. But having said that, I usually play in shorts all year round unless I'm in a tournament, when I will be more conservative and wear trousers. It just never seems to get cold enough here in Sydney to warrant long pants. Having massively hairy legs also helps out though.
P.S. Agree with Dave re:your irons Heff. Very nice.

Here in NC it sounds about like what Dave was saying about TX. High of 56. Saturday was warmer but rainy. I play with no pants, regardless of the temp. until the police arrive, anyway.
-
High temp for Saturday and Sunday was right about 39 degrees. It was also raining and windy as hell. It's snowing at the moment. I hate all of you.

Texas weather update-- clear, sunny, calm and 70 degrees at the range yesterday. Today looks just as good, but the club's closed. D'OH!

High 50's maybe low 60's here in Tampa with a breeze thrown in here or there. Course is also closed. What the hell is with private clubs and closing on Mondays? Don't they understand I have the need to play on that day too?
I played on Friday and Saturday. It was 89 degrees on Friday, low 80's on Sat until the front moved in and dropped the temp 30 degrees between 2pm-7pm+
-
I played in yellow bike shorts on Sunday. You've been OWNED!

I thought we were strictly talking outer garments here. Personally I don't mind 'freeballing' it around the house, but when you are as well endowed as me you can't have all that meat swinging around freely. It would affect my weight shift and lead to a reverse pivot, so I have to have it tucked up nice and tight on the golf course.

Played the afternoon round today at my home course. Temp was right at 60 all afternoon with a moderate breeze and not a cloud in the sky, perfect light sweater weather. Posted a nice 71 today. My handicap tends to go down in the cooler months since I stay away from morning rounds. The Yanks and Canucks prefer those nippy am tee times.
-
Ironically enough, I saw a guy on a bicycle wearing those while I was finishing up my round. He thought he wouldn't be a factor.. So I waited for him to get out further down the fairway and used him as an aim reference. I hope he enjoyed the missile that flew past him.
-
No shorts, but I did wear insulated coveralls at work. Think the high reached 30 here in Minnesota.

Isn't Minnesota the official home of Ice Golf? The only golf association in the world that should allow colored golf balls. Do you guys crank up in December or January? How much do they charge to play and are snow spikes allowed for better grip?
-
If the rest of you wimps haven't jumped into a lake when the air temperature is 0*F and swam around you haven't lived.
-
Haven't played any ice golf in my area, west central close to the south dakota border, but have heard about it. Went out last Friday, 39 degrees F and did nine. Have golfed here a couple of years ago 2 weeks before christmas. Ground was froze, almost needed a hammer to put in a tee, but man, the drive rolled a long ways. Kind of gives a new meaning to bump and run.
-
AAAAAhhhh
Played the day before thanksgiving and the day after. It reached 42F here with now breeze and it was great. Most of the holes were snow free and if they weren't, it just made for an extra hazard. Shot bogey golf putting thru snow and with frozen fairways and greens. What a wonderful way to end the golf season.
-
Is everybody here a fair weather golfer or does anybody else here know what its like to go golfing when the ground is frozen with a little snow and having the course to yourself with a bunch of buddies enjoying life?
-
The hell with shorts ... half the people who wear golf shorts either need a tan , have some ugly azz legs, the shorts are too tight, and either too damn short, or always that tan khaki color. IMO shorts and jeans are just the weekenders golf style . Real golfers always sport some slacks, khaki pants ,or synthetic type rain gear pants. Shorts are for snow birds, or yanks. If i see anyone in shorts ill laugh right in their face and they wont know why

Or the wrong side of life.
Saw a guy in baggy khaki shorts over black running tights on the course today. Funny part, he was sporting mizuno MP 32's. Come to think of it he looked like. Hey, Omen, were you in Portland this weekend?

I'm an all-weather golfer, I don't know the meaning of fair weather. After the course closes for the year, which was the first week of November this year. I have the place to myself until there's too much snow and I basically give up. Some of my best golf rounds came with no tee blocks, no flags, no cups, and about four layers of clothing on.
I find that playing with a lot of clothes on is good practice for when old age sets in and you can't make as big a swing as you once could!!

I would think not having a hole to hit the ball into would make for extremely high scores.
-
Khacki pants are for hacks. I always wear cargo shorts (playa) for my regular rounds and a full blown tuxedo for my competition rounds. If it's a really big tournament, I'll wear a cape and top hat too. Gotta look good out there.

I agree that khacks are for hacks but there better than some short shorts. Is it me or are all khackis very ill fitting

At least at my course anyway, the holes are in the ground year round, we just pull the cups out when the course closes. Its actually amazing how much better you can play when you just aim at the green. I would say I hit easily 50% more GIR's without a flag on the green.
