It's a hard job to make a blade look gay but Feel comes close with this faggoty offering. Anyone who even considers buying these definitely takes it up the blurter.

Sergio likes yellow too. As evidenced by his 2006 Open 'tweety bird' ensemble.

The new VR's are nice looking. I swung the cavity muscle version. The blade doesn't come in LH. To my surprise it was a nice club. Great feel and workable.

I've always thought these blades looked nice

Part of the reason I like Nike so much is I feel they are becoming a powerhouse in the golf world. It doesn't take 40 yrs to become a great manufacturerererer(sp?) of clubs, It takes players and designers that work hard to make good clubs. IMHO if Tiger is helping design a club he plans on using on tour it's PROBABLY going to be amazing.

I feel so many people stay away from Nike BECAUSE it's Nike and there's just no way they can make good products in ANOTHER sport..

Those Srixons are absoultely magnificent looking clubs. One of the purest looking blades on the market. On looks alone they would rate up there with the MP33's. Not sure about the quality tough as never hit them, but if they are Japanese forged they would play as good as they look.

AFter today's range session, these particular blades are staying with me... memories of Johnny Miller's time of greatness, rechromed and with modern shafts.

    delicious. :-)

For those I haven't repeated this to, the E740 is the custom grind of the Tour Blade favored by Johnny Miller in 74-75...

Mizuno is just wasting perfectly good metal by putting it all the way across the back like that, instead of the only place that matters - behind the sweet spot.

Yeah I agree, I want to get me some of those sweet looking Miura's. I wanted to get the special edition 15% 'smaller blade' pictured but I spoke to my Miura dealer and he told me that next year they are bringing out a blade that is 20% smaller again so I am going to hold out for that model. I'm going to get 1-PW.

I'll fit the 1 iron in by taking out the 58*. After all no 'real man' playing blades would want a wedge over 56* now would they?

In all fairness Kiwi i have heard that if you wait Omen (RiP),NAH, BJ etc etc are in discussion with Mr Miura to produce a GR set of Miura Blades

The Head is so small you are actually playing with the hosel. In that way you can assess the size of your testes against your ability to "pure" the ball. I for one are considering it so i can start shooting in the 100's again. After all the more shots you take the better value for money you get out of the course :D

Thanks Edgey, in that case I'll definitely hold out for the special GR Edition Miura's.

I'm also looking into getting some old style smaller golf balls. These modern oversize monstrosities are way too easy to hit and make the game far too easy. It's almost like cheating. These balls strike at the very integrity of the game of golf.

    That is VERY sensible Kiwi

I think you will find that the "small" golf balls were ENGLISH spec. The larger golf balls were AMERICAN.

Hence the AMERICANS have made the game easier, damn yanks got a lot to answer for.

I have therefore decided to buy some GR Miuras, Persimmon Woods and a small NAPA type blade putter. I will start using English golf balls, reintroduce the stymie rule, remove rakes from bunkers and ban all tee pegs. Lets get some f ucking traditional values back in the game.

I ask all GR members who have a pair to join my quest for a return to mens golf, not the h0mosexual bollocks that is played now. Death to hybrids, thrivers, GI POS CB OS Shovels, 5 woods, 7 woods, visors, cargo shorts,Callaway, Ping .......................................:blush2:

I also like the Wilson Staff Fluid Feel (1987 - 1988) and Tour Blade Line Over (1984 - 1986). Something about the bullet markings on the face.

I'll acceed on NZ war heroes. As an Italian I'm not qualified to judge that sort of thing. On Churchill, WWII was the greatest challenge of the 20th century, and Churchill handled things brilliantly. You guys were destined to screw everything up after WWII no matter who was at the helm.

As to Monty, jeez are you kidding? What a clown. North Africa was a junior campaign. When he got to Sicily, he had Patton on his flank who outraced and embarrassed him. At Ardennes, the Germans caught the Allies with their pants down and almost won the war with that bold campaign. But the Germans, using men with little or no experience, ran out of fuel. And Ardennes was after Market Garden. MG was easily the biggest Allied debacle of the war and was Monty's "brainchild". Patton was mowing down the entire German army and was about to move into Germany and probably would have ended the war in 1944, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.

But Monty threw a tantrum and demanded the Allies use his plan, and so Patton was denied additional fuel. Of 10,000 paratroopers dropped into Arnhem, over 7,500 didn't return. And the Dutch, as a result of the operation, suffered mass starvation that winter. Monty's impact was reduced in importance thereafter. Patton's 3d army rolled through Germany.

The difference in lives lost both military and civilian by Montgomery being in the war at all is huge and tragic. Lucky for the British, Eisenhower thought it was more important to save Allied and British face than subject that little moron to the treatment he deserved.
Et tu, Kiwi? Mussolini only sided with the bad guys, and was killed when he stopped amusing everyone. But it is true, we have perhaps the second shortest list of war heroes of any country, behind only the New Zealanders.

    .
No offence Lorenzo but my take on Italy's involvement in WW2 can be summarised as follows:

In 1939 Mussolini wasn't at all keen to go to war with his buddy Herr Hitler but when he saw that Hitler was kicking everyone else's @ss he decided to get in on the act and send his army into Greece. Trouble is the Greeks had the audacity to actually fight back - imagine that! (with a little help from a few Kiwis including double VC winner Sir Charles Upham).

So Hitler had to release a couple of divisions and send them into Greece/Crete to clean up the mess and finish the fight that the Duce had started - which the Germans did quite decisively.

Later when the tide turned you killed Mussolini and sided with the Allies.

So that's my take on it. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Edgey has already pointed out that NZ has produced many war heroes. A couple of other notables besides Charles Upham.

Keith Park who was a commander of the RAF during the Battle of Britain - "If any one man won the Battle of Britain, he did. I do not believe it is realised how much that one man, with his leadership, his calm judgement and his skill, did to save, not only this country, but the world." Lord Tedder – Chief of the Royal Air Force, February 1947.

And as recently as 2007 Willie Apiata won the VC for bravery whilst serving in Afghanistan.

So we are quite proud of our contribution to defending mother Britain and the free world in two WW's and even today in Afghanistan. Although we were smart enough to stay OUT of Iraq!
Churchill couldn't have been a great leader... after all the english kicked him out of office very quickly after the war, and they are too smart to have done that to a great leader.. right?
That was just so that they could bring all the boys home at the end of the war. Churchill wanted to keep em deployed in various theatres to protect British interests so they voted him out.

    Don't forget he was re-elected in 1951.

Good summary, Kiwi. I thought you had said Mussolini took both sides. It's an ugly chapter in Italy. Italians thought he was a daffy fool who got things running but wasn't dangerous. As in Germany, there were powerful armament manufacturers who wanted to sell. Italy had been, essentially, city states until not long before the war and even then was far from unified. It needed a stronger central government. The vast majority of citizens just never expected any real warmaking and turned on him when the opportunity was there. There was little fervor as evidenced by the military not really showing interest in winning although ability surely factored in as well. Discipline and organization aren't strong suits of modern Italy. The culture peaked long ago with the Roman Empire and again during the Renaissance.

As I've been told, and who knows if this is revisionist, the strongest sentiment amongst Mussolini era citizens was horror that Italy was aligned with Germany in any way.

And I would never seriously question Kiwi valor.

And I meant no real offence to Italians either. I agree that Mussolini was a daffy fool who dragged Italy into a war in which you had no business simply because of Mussolini's association with Hitler.

I just spoke with the man. He is going to email the additional photos. He said they are all the same serial numbers and do not have any rust on the face. He also said he is getting many calls on them. So, if anyone is interested I would act fast. Fortunately we have over 10" of snow portland and I don't think anyone is going to pick these things up real soon. He is within walking distance to me.

From the photos, it doesn't look like the sweet spots have been hit much. For that price it is kind of tempting. But then I'd change out the shafts to Nippons at $50-60 per and then still a maybe a bargain but not as much.

DaveP, henceforward you will be allowed to purchase Mizunos. It's Christmas and the Mizzy quorum was in a good mood. The only caveat is that you melt your current Adams, plastic and all, and bury it in a Hello Kitty cookie jar.

Sorry to come in late on this thread, but I hope all you guys are in jest when you say Churchill was a great leader. You won't get too many people agreeing with you from our part of the world. His 'leadership' is the main reason Australia and New Zealand built up such a highly regarded reputation in wars. Because that pommy fukka kept throwing us into impossible situations, and used us as cannon fodder, which meant basically fight hard or die. Amongst some of his hair brained ideas was to use the ANZACS as decoys at Gallipoli to keep the Turks occupied (by making us run at machine gun nests) while the brits tried to attack through the Dardenelles (possibly the best defensive position in miltary history and doomed to failure). He also did not release Aussie troops from Europe during WWII even though we were being invaded by the Japs. Thankfully the good ol boys from the US of A came to the rescue like the cavalry in a western movie.

I agree totally. I prefer the looks of the 690's but by looking at them from the top line both clubs look nearly identical. New technology? not really, just a new look.
