Being John Daly
For whatever reason I like John Daly but this show just sucks. The production team should be fired. Here's JD smoking a cigarette, here's JD looking out his plantation shutters, here's JD playing guitar. In one part of the show they filmed him playing with a bunch of guys in Upland. The a.ss kissing was sickening. In another part of the show his current chick is typing the "heartfelt" requests to tournament directors to give JD a spot in their tournament. She's typing the letters instead of JD. JD says he would love to write out all the letters by hand but, by gosh, that would mean he'd have to write 32 letters. Is this guy for real? He can't sit down and write 32 letters that might offer him the chance to play on the PGA Tour? Who am I kidding, I'm sure I'll be watching it again next week.

Reminded me of a bunch of leeches. Drinking his beers, eating his steaks. I'd like to know when any of them flipped the bill when JD came to town.

Ya I saw the previews of him sitting in what looks like a guitar store. I know it was his "guitar room" and he really can't play for shite. I shouldn't squawk though. I don't deserve the shite I have.....

I think this show was about 2 years too late. I couldn't imagine a show about the current JD being anything more than a snooze fest. If they had cameras for the old JD though, now that would have been a show. With all the nobody's who have had their own reality shows over the years, you have to wonder why they took so long getting JD a show, but they missed the boat.

Agreed. Why come out with a show after the guy has lost weight and lays off the booze? I like the plastic chick he has for a girlfriend. Talk about a barracuda.

When I saw the commercial and the narrator asks if you thought you knew what it was like to be John Daly and he responds, "you have no idea". All I could do was laugh!

As entertaining as he is, he's a friggin lazy bum! Why do I want to watch some lazy bum walk around his house in underwear and slippers with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth?

Yeah, I had no idea alright! I thought he was a bit more motivated than that!

I kind get into JDs way. I have not seen the show, nor met him in person, just knew alot of folks that knew him, and liked the guy, when I lived in Arkansas. His grip it and rip it drives, will always amaze me how long the commentary was on his drives. After an all nighter at the casino still halftanked, cigarette in hand.

I saw the first half of last night's show and it was horrible. I think big John made a mistake with this show. I don't like him anymore. The thing about reality shows is the fact that people can't hide their true colors. They know they're on TV but after awhile they forget and can't hide it. Daly's attitude when he's on the plane and his little hissy fit on the helicopter are just two examples of him being an ungrateful child. In one part of the show they film his chick driving back to the hotel to get his putter. This is one dumb broad. I give them 1 year.

Face it FD, JD is yesterday's man. What you are seeing is an empty husk of the great man. I advise you stop watching to avoid further disillusion. Watching that show would be like a 4 year old kid watching Bad Santa. It's soul destroying. Just forget about looking up to John and jump on the Boo Train.

Don't forget, he can't sing for sheite either.

The producers want SO BADLY to feature him musically, but they can't make themselves do it. He sucks.

And isn't it somehow fitting that his secretary/cheerleader/girlfriend looks a bit like a stripper with a few years pole-hangin' time on the clock.....? Big silicon boobs and all...

I've been rooting for JD since he won the '91 PGA and went nuts after the '95 open. For the past few years I would not pay much attention to a PGA tournament unless he was in the field and if he MC'd, I'd not watch much weekend play. Now I've had it. Looks to me like he can't sustain tour-level play for more than a round or two. Maybe its the extreme weight loss. Before I quit drinking years ago, I had a big beer gut that had enough gravitas to help me through shots with extra oomph, like little jets on the back of my blades. The next Hank Haney show should be "Can JD Make the Cut?" And all those acoustic guitars? Like how many acoustics does he need? All he does is strum chords like a '60's beatnik folk singer. Dude, take some lessons from some pickers and trade those flat-tops for some rockabilly Gretsches and a few Telecasters. Get a freaking 100 watt Marshall and an old Les Paul and blow yer eardrums out with sustaining distortion. Go play on the Nationwide Tour and try to win every event. Go play with the Indians, Chinese and Thais in Maylasia, Indonesia, Korea, the P.I. wherever. And lose the brunette ramora.

The guy just trying to make a living to pay off 4 ex-wives and numerous children. He's a alcoholic, woman abusing, skid that wasted a talent and could really care less about what he's potraying.

Reality TV seems to be the last resort and last chance to firm up a retirement for these type of people.

The general public has him labeled as a wasted life and want nothing more than to see him stay like that to prove a point , showcase an example of what can happen when you waste a talent, beat your wives and gamble your fortunes away.

If trying to make a comeback is his real movitivation, I think he's delusional and would be better off keeping the small fortune he has made and use his time to read to blind kids and hand out soup in a shelter. That may be the only way people pull out a redeeming quality out of this loser.

I dug out a little info on this prize.

Anna Cladakis. (40....i thought JD would get a trophy a little younger than that) Was former girlfriend of the chairman of outback steakhouse. She filed and received $90,000/year in child support from that relationship. She worked for hooters as a promotional director.

Other than the really nice big jugs, she looks a little weathered up close.

Ozzy's reality show ended up spurring Sharon's career more than revitalizing his own. Other than a couple of commercials, Ozzy never renewed the career he once had. Sharon though, who was pretty much unknown before the series, blossomed into a very lucrative career that continues to this day.

I think it made him look weak, feeble and a simpleton. These reality shows do absolutely nothing (for the most part) as far as projecting a good image for these people. The audience wants to see the messed up components of their character and expect nothing less.

One of the only ones I do like watching is Celeb Apprentice because the whole purpose of the show is to actually do good and give to charity. However, they still have their train wrecks...like Dennis Rodman last year.

Oh, I agree 100%... but the fact is we had no idea just how, umm... rebellious big JD actually was until he lost the court case which made this document public.

It really boils down to a combination of free will and intelligence. JD has free will, but not a whole lot of intelligence.

If you do the math, it somehow equals out to a 456 page rap sheet.

I could be wrong though, my math skills aren't that sharp... maybe I forgot to subtract the redneck somewhere.

I thought The Osbourn's was kinda scary. Ozzy's trembling hands and inability to talk was almost too pathetic to watch. He gets drunk and passes out during the renewing of his wedding vows. Kids are spoiled and out of control. Other than all that, great show.

John Daly

Two-time PGA major champ John Daly gambled away between $50 and $60 million in career earnings, according to his 2006 autobiography. Daly once lost $1.65 million in five hours playing the slot machines at a casino. If you think that’s impressive, there’s more. Daly blew $1.2 million in a mere two hours and 30 minutes at a casino in Las Vegas. He just had his $1.6 million house foreclosed on. Did Daly quit gambling after blowing so much cash at the casino tables? Not by a long shot. Instead, he decided to downgrade from the $5,000 slot machines to the $100 and $500 machines. It looks in John Daly’s world, that is considered sound financial planning.

I've read similar statistics about big lottery winners. It seems that when people who never had money suddenly come into large sums of money, something in their brain short circuits and they started taking huge risks to make even more money. At least Tyson and Holyfield can blame all the blows to the head for being idiots, but the rest have no excuses. But I still don't know how you can possibly lose money on real estate. In Oz, a bad real estate iinvestment would be if you bought a house that takes 10 years to double in value, instead of 5. Maybe they took risks on property developing, which in Oz can make huge profits but can be risky. We have some ex sports stars who have gone broke in property development.

Saw another episode of Being John Daly last night (3/23) and watched this guy act like a 5-year-old at the Monterey Aquarium. First of all, this aquarium is pretty cool and has a lot to see. All poor JD could do is pout and talk about how he hates the ocean and isn't interested in any of the fish or mammals. His chick kept asking him what he wanted to see and all he could say was "Nothing, I don't care about any of this. I just want to get the hell out of here". This guy should be washing dishes in the back of a diner. This chick will be gone in less than a year.

Yeah, TGC has some really bad programming these days. It was better when Peter Kessler did 90% of the show. Why don't they have any interviews like they used to? Now it's more like a cheap version of Inside Edition only golf related.

I liked Kessler, too. I even liked his infomercial hawking "The Perfect Club". Not enough to buy one, though. All their celebrity pro golf shows are total detritus including both Daly shows, the Gulbis show and what will probably be the endless series of Donald Trump
pro-athletes-other-than-golfers and film/comedian celebrity moronic chopper matches. Even the Big Break shows of late are like "Survivor" or "Biggest Loser". The number done on Rudy Giuliani's boy by the Wog brothers and a couple other contestants was enough for me to swear it off.

I can remember Daly playing at Chickasaw Country Club in Memphis the day he got the call to Crooked Stick. He was a train wreck redneck then and he is a train wreck redneck now. Only difference is now he has the money to buy his friends. His current woman is also a piece of work too. Read up on her and her previous relationship. Once a Hooter's girl always a Hooter's girl I guess.

She's just as good as a plastic fuk doll to him. He's been burnt by so many women now that he could care less about building a meaning full relationship. Not that she wants one. Gold digging whore. They deserve each other.

Little story on Daly's girlfriend. They definitely deserve each other.
I watched some of the Trump show last night. Pathetic. Who cares about celebreties playing each other in golf? For the most part they suck. De La Hoya doing some air punches like a total douche.

De La Hoya can't out douche Trump though.

He was coming close saying, walking up 18, that he had the adrenaline like he was in the ring for a big fight.

That's for sure. I can't imagine working for that guy. That waterfall on the first hole is so cheesy.

Great story. The guy actually got off pretty cheap and his shysters outlawyered hers. Brings to mind the famous moral to the ancient tale of the capture of Troy: "Beware of Greeks bearing v*ginas."

Not to mention Jerry Rice running around saying "he's still got it"!

I like the concept of the show. It would be good for golf if it wasn't so "TRUMPED UP"!

I loved it when pro athletes talk about how much they love golf. LT stated that he used to think it was a sissy sport and now he's played every day since 1999! Jordan said that if he would have been introduced to golf at an early age he never would have taken up basketball. That says a lot about golf and shuts up a lot of the detractors of the game.

I'm glad she didn't get that much but she shouldn't have got anything. She obviously conned him! This type of behavior happens every day and ruins the lives of men all over this country. In many cases, even if the kid isn't their's, the man has to pay just because he earns an income! Sickening!

Daly's girl friend is crazy, but most are. I wouldn't mind throwing her the D but she looks expensive to keep around.
Nice to see another Kessler fan. Love his show on XM, listen to it sometimes in the morning while smoking down. Sometimes I think he could be a higher being.

John withdrew again, this time, a pinched nerve in his hip. Hmmm, very talented and a great guy on the golf course, he’s good for golf. He talks to the gallery, sort of a white Lee Trevino. I hate to see him pull out so many times, but he wasn’t all that bad in the Zurich, just stopped after 12 holes. Usually when you pull out, it’s before you start playing.
Tiger and Phil in the Hollow. It’s not gonna be sleepy hollow this time. My pics are Sergio, Phil, Tiger, Freddy, Kenny, Davis, Camilo, Kim (even though he’s playing hurt), Stuart (dark horse) and Andres. They should all be in the top 20.

It’s going to be good tournament
I don’t think they’ll be a runaway.

I must disagree.

Usually, when you pull out, it's WELL after you've been playing and you have either pressed on regardless that you were unprepared or have just realized that something has broken.

John has a problem in his left hip, I think he said it was a pulled muscle that has never really healed up well. Pulling out can go either way, but you're right, one pulls out when injured, what I was refering to was pulling out before tee off. I feel for John, he could have had the golfing world by the tail, had his personal life been a little more on an even keel. I met John in Alb. NM in the late 80's, he was just a kid but funnnnnny, good personality. And drink, you can't keep up and he's buyin. All in all, he's a fan favorite and it really killed me to see him miss that 3 ft. putt in a playoff with Tiger. It was later revealed that Tiger was quite sad to see John miss the putt, Tiger didn't want to win that way. It's no secret that Tiger and John are not "drinkin buddies" but they do like to have their driving contests they do talk to each other, more than not.

A white Lee Trevino? (Is there another Lee Trevino who is a black man?) There are no similarities other than Trevino used to get juiced like Daly. Daly has accomplished a small percentage of what his talents were capable of while Trevino has accomplished much more with very little talent and countless hours of hard work. There is always a hint of mischief in Trevino's eyes while Daly's eyes look dead, like a shark's. Which one do you think will be the last man still using oxygen?

That would have been Sam Snead, a real A-hole unless he was sucking up to someone with more money and/or power. Trevino and Player are the two coolest dudes I have ever had the priviledge of following around a course. Nicklaus got rather mellow in his later years but was an uptight bruiser as a 20-something.

When Sam Snead was the PGA Pro dude at the Greenbrier in WV (a VERY snooty resort), he used to invite himself along to play with groups. Hell, who wouldn't want to play with Sam Snead, right?!?!?

They found out later that they were being charged for on course lessons.
