Burndog v Edgey 08th April, dress code
    Hi

As the world is now aware i am playing BURNDOG on the 8th April 2010. SInce this is the first ever GR UK OFFICIAL match i was thinking about what to wear.

I am in the throws of purchasing some Loudmouth golf trousers (as most are aware i am a fan of big JD). I think it would be appropriate to wear them for the match, if for no other reason it might put BD off his game.

    What does GR think?

Well Edgey, Who better than the obvious resident "I couldn't dress a turd if you paid me" shime in first! I'm thinking denim without a doubt. Couple that with a tight fitting black shirt and you're money. If you can't deal with denim then by all means go with polyester pants and a terrycloth headband. If the tight fitting black shirt is short sleeve than by all means go with matching terrycloth wristbands. If that doesn't say "I own you" I don't know what does...........

Normally I'd say clothes aren't a joking matter. But if there's gamesmanship involved, go for it. You guys don't appear to have any bad blood at this point so whatever it takes to move things in that direction.

But you guys have such great tweeds, linens and wools I'd go for the Sean Connery in Goldfinger look

Althiough I'm not a fan of denim on the course, if you do decide to take Shuz' advice, I suggest you follow Shuz and go all the way by selecting a pair of jeans complete with saggy arse at the back. Nothing makes jeans look even more bogan (Oz term, not sure of the exact UK or US translation) than the baggy arse, shitt catcher look.

P.S. On second look at the photos on the FD v NS thread, Shuz jeans were a little too close to proper fitting. Shuz, next time you wear denim on the course, make sure they are badly fitting and have more room at the back.

Edgey, go for the techno-future look that Langer wears out on the cart tour. I think I'd rather be in jeans than wear that crap. Of course, jeans are forbidden at proper clubs like yours and mine.

I vote you play naked while striped with black and blue paint, tie a few feathers in whatever hair remains, and before each tee shot you must shout FREEDOM!

Failing that, the Roman Centurion look has a certain appeal.. "I have a fwend in Wome called Biggus Dickus"..

I hate Poltroon becauses of his attitude towards a small child who wanted his autograph. He's a wanker.

On the other hand i like bright trousers like JD. Please get my hero's correct.

Yes, great idea. Your country and it's unwilling colonies should show your proud tradition. Something we lack. It's decided then.

I f I ever join a real golf club, I'll ensure I only join a club where this type of dress code is strictly enforced. Forbidding jeans solves so many associated problems and saves the trouble of rafting other rules to keep out undesireables.

    No offense Shuz.

I look flat out pimpy on the golf course. It's a little something I refer to as "Legend Building." When I play outside of my club, I dress and act like a professional, often inquiring about the course record (frequently and loudly) before teeing off. When I walk in after the round, I'm all smiles, introductions, and handshakes. I never refer to the person I just met by his name, just "guy." It's the easiest way to establish social dominance. I sometimes sign a few balls and tell the kids to stay in school. Making a legend building impression isn't easy, but I find it to be worth it. Legends aren't built with jeans and saddle shoes.

I see FD has rubbed off on you HB. I think your "Legend Building" probably resembles something more like the "Maintenance Building" only with "Bling" which is nothing more than Smoke and Mirrors. I let my golfing do the talking for me. On the tee box I'll introduce myself, shakes hands and then ask, "Permission to Launch". Afterward when they're buying me lunch after handing their asses to them, I'll ask them for their autograph to make them feel better about themselves.........That's golf for REAL MEN buddy.....

This match will never happen. I see a lot of posturing but nothing of real substance. I dare these two to find a good goat track and play in the worst conditions ever recorded. My Ping Eye 2's are still recovering. I put them next to the fire.

I do pretty much the same thing. However, as a 90's shooter, it can be exhausting coming up with multiple excuses as to why I'm always having the worst round of my life. (lack of custom sole grind is my current favorite) I keep hoping that my overcofidence will eventually translate into decent golf.

There's really only two components of social dominance. Wearing the right clothes and knowing how to make fun of other people's clothes.

MIncing people's names, talking over them and making fun of what they're eating just enhance the experience.

Yeah me too. I'd pretty much exhausted my usual line of excuses and am getting some great mileage out of the lack of custom sole grind on my wedges excuse.

PM me if you've got any other great excuses. Maybe we should start a thread on this topic? Having all the collective excuses of the GR Regulars in your arsenal could be even more lethal than a custom sole grind on your wedges.

Edgey, why? You know good and well that Camp Freddy would not even be caught in pants that gawdy! Those clothes are major fashion disasters!

Go with the twill if it is going to be cold or even a nice pair of pleated corduroy pants. If it is going to be mild to warm, definitely go with the golfing linens.

If you go with the Loudmouths then I swear you have had your tongue up Poulter's arse.
