    The Hangover Part Deux
Big Dave, Riverologist, Riverologist's friend and FD will be teeing it up this Saturday and Sunday in Las Vegas. We're playing 36 holes at Paiute Golf Resort on Saturday and then 18 holes at a course near the strip on Sunday. Dave and FD will be playing a GR match on Saturday and a GR match on Sunday. Dave and FD will have matches with Riverologist as well but we haven't figured out the handicaps yet.

I've attached some photos of the course. It's pretty spectacular. By the way, if that scene looks familiar it's because it's very close to where they filmed the last scene in the original Terminator movie.

I've heard the way Canadians dress is the stuff of legend. Be sure to post a couple of photos. I'd just wait for the video but I'd be f.ucking with the normal human lifespan.

Fear not Lorenzo for I am in charge of video this time. And, as you are well aware, I'm highly competent in the areas of electronics and video. I'll be using my Flip Video and then my iphone if we run out of space. I will then venture to upload, download and sideload my video so that it somehow manages to get on this forum.

I didn't realize River was Canadian. Does he know Alan?

Don't have no hyperlink. I attached a file. Maybe it's because I'm on Firegox instead of IE.

Came up fine in Firefox. I hate having to use IE for work.

I've got some sideloading planned for this weekend too.

Production is great but raw is good too. That is if you frame and properly time the length of shots while keeping the camera steady.

You might, as the director, bring something each of the subjects is fond of as a carrot so they'll cooperate.

Maybe bacon for the Canadian and couple of Porterhouses for Dave.

Vegas is pretty high altitude so don't bother regaling us with any BS tales of long driving dingus.

Dave also has an iPhone. From it, I believe I can upload videos direct to YouTube. They must be short, though, just because anything over about thirty seconds takes many minutes to upload. Interrupts the golf.

But the main thing is, we're taking this rubber match thing seriously and won't be distracting ourselves screwing around with video too much. we will provide forum updates, maybe some prematch video uploaded, and some will get uploaded that night during downtime. But no great production here. FD is currently a better player than me and I want to give him a good run... :-) I can do it if I concentrate.

besides.. if we were to do any real bit of production and get it online in any prompt fashion, I'm afraid Lorenzo might die.

I don't plan on uploading anything until both matches are over. I think that's a distraction and the last thing we want is to be waiting on someone while they mess around with their iphone, ipad, whatever. We can give updates maybe every 4 holes or so, if we are not holding anyone up.

I'm a little worried because my game has not been the greatest lately. I may go work on my chipping and pitching during lunch today. I think Dave and I are pretty even so it should be a good match. I still haven't decided on the irons. I'm leaning toward Titleist 990 irons as they tend to be a good set to go back to when I'm struggling with my game.

It's time for a change of pace. I suggest bringing a bottle of your fave throat cleaner and hitting it for a shot every couple of holes. Also have a couple at the start.

I remember the last time I drunk-golfed. It was 1979 and my dad had invited me as his guest in the two-man "Doodlebug Open" tournament for geophysicists (doodlebuggers, nickname for the business) at Hogan Park golf course in Midland, TX. Dad was a big drinker when he was younger, and had put away four or five beers before the first hole. I was 19 years old. So I tried to catch up. We competed at beer for the whole round, and between us we'd polished off about 30 by the time we were on the 18th tee. He birdied 18 to shoot 78 and I missed a 4 footer to tie, shot 79. I think there is something to be said for playing hammered.

mind you, I was on the junior college golf team at the time, so it wasn't top of the line play for me. Hit the ball just fine. Weaved a bit over each putt, that was the problem, made nothing.

We've pooled our resources and Dave is entering the World Series of Poker. I'm there for moral support.

Played a round today after which we sat in the bar drinking. After about 4 drinks and a couple of shots, we decided to head back out to the course to play a few holes. The best any of us did was double bogey, but it was fun as hell taking turns duffing or chunking the ball.
