Input on new grips.

I hate the grip on this TaylorMade (used) driver, so Im going to regrip it. I found these fantastic grips that Ive done all my clubs in so far, but I was wondering about trying these grips out just on the driver to see if they are any good.

Try one,,not that expensive to change it out if you dont like it.

Personally, oversize grips dont appeal to me, although they do seem to appeal to players with arthritis that I know.

I suppose if I had very large hands I might try one. I use a large golf glove and dont find oversize grips helpful.

Unless I'm mistaken, you said in a different thread that you wanted to get away from a fading shot and go more to a draw. Larger diameter grips tend to slow down the closing of the club face at the bottom of the swing, so they will actually promote more of a push than a pull. I use medium grips on my clubs, but I have really big hands, so it helps me keep the club held firm without having to grip too tightly.

That exactly what I dont want, more fade. I know some might like it, but fades turn into full blown slices too fast, imo. After Im playing good enough to keep it straight and consistently play a draw I'll start tinkering with fading. Definitely got a LONG way to go still.

I've tried oversize grip, did not like it... At present, I like standard grip size for driver and MAYBE mid size for irons and gaybrids... not sure why

i've been at this for a bit over two years. i started out like you, wanting to try all the latest and greatest. i too had a fade (slice) and wanted to turn it into a draw. the best thing i did was to invest in a series of lessons. i was taught a proper swing and that helped me contact the ball the right way which increased my accuracy. i now generally hit the fairways on my drives, hit greens on my approaches. i've gone from hitting over 100 to consistantly hitting in the mid 80s.
yeah, the equipment bits are way cool, but learn solid fundamentals and then go and spend that disposable income.

I use jumbomax condoms all the time, but I've never tried the grips.

Use Golf Pride or Lambskin grips. Anything else is cheap. Winn grips are horrible. Keep in mind this is coming from a great ball striker.

lamkin crosslines I think they call them, you know, the white and black checkered ones been around a million years...

but, there are so many cool options nowadays, i think people get in trouble with so much crap to spend time and money on instead of perfecting what matters most in golf: penis size.

Yes, Crosslines are da bomb. On Ebay, 9 sellers out of 10 misspell Lamkin. Almost always Lampkin. The worst grips ever were the "tour velvet" that Macgregor put on their otherwise great v-foil 1025m irons a decade back. Hard and slick, no traction at all. It was as if you'd bought an AMG 55 and it came with seats from a Sentra. I wrote Macgregor about it and they sent me back a "thank you for your input" form letter.

The grips I'm using now are actually genuine leather and made by GripMaster. They cost $24.99 each but are well worth it. I don't skimp on my clubs, not one bit. My game is worth it.

I know enough of the fundamentals already. Im simply looking for tweaks.
Hitting the fairway isnt the issue....just wanting to get some thoughts on what was is best to turn a fade into a draw.
Lastly, I dont slice..its a very playable fade, but I dont like it...so thats not really an issue.

I went ahead and bought the Golf Pride grip Ive used on my other clubs. I used two layers of tape to broaden up the grip just a tad. Feels pretty good. I'll hit the range with it tomorrow and see how it does.

Not to threadjack, but has anyone tried the Iomic grips?

Just went to the website. Those John Daly signature grips rock. Amazing colors! Just from a feel and wear standpoint, though, can they really measure up to synthetics?
