Lead Tape - Putter

Does anyone use lead tape on the head of their putter? I've got putter envy of a friends Scotty Newport which is very similar in style to my Anser. The difference being the Scotty is a bit heavier and feels better weighted. Has anyone had sucess in altering putter weight without throwing it all out of whack?

yeah, have an anser 2 I use sometimes, put a strip along the bottom, works really well.

I have a similar dilemma, I use a Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless myself and want to cut the length down to 33" but am concerned this will upset the weighting. If I make up this weight by using lead tape where should the strip go - on top/underneath and front, middle or back of the club head?

Just use a bit of scotch tape to hold it in place while you putt with it. Once you find the spot you want to attach it to then remove the tape and adhere the lead tape using it's own adhesive. Back of the putter, or bottom is a good place to start.

Love my Futura and would like to weight it up a little bit.Is it possible to do the same or does the odd style make this impossible?

IF you cut down your putter to 33'', and you don't wan't to throw the weight off just put a light grip on your putter and it will offset the trimminng. probably the lightest grip on the market is the golf pride pro only, whatever you do don't put a winn grip on your putter it will make it feel even lighter!

this is not a bad idea, but the chance of it saving you strokes is small. but try it you never know .

The original 2 ball was too light for many people's taste. They have a "pro weight" model now. I enjoy mine too. Although, the weight in mine was added by Oddysey/Callaway, it was because many pros were adding it with lead tape. I have seen one altered that way and think you can add as much as you want. I would suggest that you not put it on the bottom of the putter because it might cause drag. I would put it on the bottom of the back remembering that you want to keep the balance and the moment of inertia, so may be put the same length on each side, heel and toe. :)
