Post your scores!
I thought it would be a good idea for a thread if we had one thread where you could post a score you just made, with comments on the round, maybe some questions/comments could be cool

Anyway I'll start us off.

6:28 tee time... Played horrific today. Could not put anything together, couldn't get off the tee if my life depended on it. I chunked the crap out of my sand and lob wedge on almost every shot. Although I shot 47 on the front, 15,16,17,18 offered some relief.

15- 220yrd par 3 - Hit a 7 iron to the right of the green, chipped on to 5ft and made par.

16- par 4 - took 3-wood off the tee and hit the GIR, two putt for par.

17 - Dogleg right, hit a nice fade, although not long, good nonetheless. Hit my hybrid left of the green. Nearly holed out the chip! Tap in for par.

18- tough 410 uphill par 4 - Hit 3-wood 230 down the middle. Hit the hybrid once again short of the green. With a 30 yard pitch, I caught a downslope and had a 30 footer left for par. Stepped up to the putt, thinking I needed to concentrate to push out one good two putt. Line it up, stroke it, it had the line, hits the back of the cup, jumps up and gos in!

Although my round was horrible, it was a great 6:30 tee off with 3 great friends, some good jokes, and a final 4 holes which made the day worth it.

Came in with a 40 on the back to give me 87.

Lets see if we can keep this thread going.

hi guys, this is the second time ever that i'm posing a reply here... the reason is because I have just shot my second best evey round in my golfing career,.. wait I'm a hacker so 90 is pretty impressive for my current skill level,....

started off at 8.30 a.m.. with a normal double bogey that i normally shoot on hole 10,.. then stabilised the score for a bogey hole 11, 12 , got a par on hole 13, then i started a dream streak of par on hole 14 15 and 16,... hole 15 is an index 1 hole that i normally shoot a double or triple... then a bogey on hole 17 and 18 (after getting on the green in regulation on a par 5).... so that ties my 9 hole record of 42.... :D

the euphoria of scoring low continued to hole 1, where i got another par before i shot a double and a triple in the next 2 holes,.. got back to par in the fourth hole,.... followed by bogey, double bogey, bogey, double bogey, bogey to complete the front 9... back to normal score of 48.... adds up to 90 one shot higher than my best of 89..... :( ...

I have just change my odeyssey putter with friend of mine's scotty cameron, who doesn't like it after splashing about US 250 eqv on it.... I'm gonna have a go at it this weekend....

Can't seem to put good two 9s together to post a lower score than this so far,... its always brilliant front 9 and so-so back 9 or the other way around on other days,...... dunno why is that so,... any theory guys?

Okk ill play:

I was playing a tournament on Sunday and was leading after 71 in the first round, then shot 1+ par 35 on the front with a triple bogey on the third and came back from two bogeys to shoot even par 36 the second nine and finished with another 71, only to lose the tournament by one shot (missing a 12 footer on 18 to force a playoff).. I dont really care I didnt win cuz I really played well this weekend.

Hole Par: 4 4 3 3 4 4 3 4 5 34 4 4 3 5 4 3 4 4 5 36 Par 70
Scores : 4 4 6 3 4 3 3 4 4 35 5 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 5 36 71

Here is my latest round in My Golf Domain.com. I shot an 85 from the White tees at Bountiful Ridge. This is much higher than my handicap which has already gone way up this year. I did drive a par 4 green. The green can't be seen from the tee box, though. You have to hit over trees to get the right line. I hit it right on the line I wanted and it had a nice draw for distance. I didn't know I could reach the green (337 yard dog leg left).

I am playing very poorly this season. I look forward to breaking 80 for the first time this year.

I am so happy today :). 3rd round with my new MP-32s and shot a 79 today. Couldve been lower if I could putt. Out of 6 legitimate birdie attempts, i could only make 1 birdie. I had a good ballstriking day and I can't sleep because I can't come down from this golf high. Good night.

Monday the 30th First never played Chisel Creek everyone was bi#@ching about this that and the other thing anyway played this par 70 course in Mt. Joy called Groff's Farm course wasn't a bad course not great will review it today if on this sight.
Played with my brother about his Tenth time out and my Brother in law about his Secound Time out (Don't know why he wanted to come) Any way they had about 270 stroaks between them no joke it was ruff. My dad And I shot 84,82 respectively but suffered the whole time. He hit the ball well and played horrable aroun the greens I had one of my worst ever ball striking days in memory and but putted and chipped well for the first time ever playing the course. 82 on a par 70 is just rotten espesially with 28 putts that means 54 other shots thats 3 per hole and there were only 3 par fives and 5 par threes.I did usually have to what about 5 or 6 really horrable shots before hitting my shot and my in law stoo over the ball for ever like as long as segio used to with the wagle .

Well since you asked. Keep in mind I just started playing last fall. Went out with my wife to the local municipal course over the weekend for a round. We were just playing along with a couple of ladies that were really slow and my wife is new also so the play was pretty slow but we kept up with the group in front of us. Anyway the the front nine was going pretty well. Nothing great but all pars and bogeys. When I got to the 8th hole I looked at my score and saw that if I could par out the last two holes I would break 40. Of course I bogied number 8. 9 I had an ok drive but off the fairway by a few feet. I took my 6 iron and put my second shot 6 feet from the hole. I made the 6 footer for birdie and shot a 39 on the front. On the back all of the ladies I had been playing with went home and I was on my own. I birdied 10, bogied 11 and pared12. At number 12 I was only 3 over. Now the mental game began. I started thinking that I could actually break 80. Something that I thought was so out of reach that it was not even a goal. 13 and 16 are both par 3s and I thought for sure I could par them. I missed the greens on both and 3 putted both (only 3 putts of the day). I took double bogie's on both par 3's so I figured it was over. I would have to par and birdie the last 2 holes which are a couple of the toughest holes on the course. 17 a par 5 that I have to lay up 100yrds out to carry a lake on shot #3. Anyway I pared 17. 18 is not a tough hole but the green has a lot of humps and strange breaks. Anyway hit a good drive and left a pitching wedge in. I put it 6 feet from the hole again. I had a 6ft putt to break 80. I looked at the put from every angle, lined it up and holed it. Oh yeah a freakin 79.

Played on Thursday and yesterday, shot 80 both days (10.3 handicap).
Thurs: 37-43
Mon: 37-43

I should have shot around 77 or lower each day, beating my previous best of 78 (although the 37's are now my low scores for 9 holes). Thursday's round was probably more painful because I was +2 after 13 and ended the round double, double, par, single, single to go +6 on the last 5 holes. DAMMIT!!! Yesterday I managed to double bogey 18 by chunking my 135 yard approach to the green in a lake. But my putting was really solid (for me) with only 1 or 2 three putts each round. Plus I had 2 birdies in each round which is unusual for me. I also have new MP-32s and these were probably my 8th round or so with them. I think I'm getting used to them :D

Its an old saying in golf when u play by urself ur score doesn't count nobody to c it. When I shoot well by myself and someone askes how I did I usually just say hit it pretty well and 0void giving a score.( not that I don't believe u but people can be sceptical)lol

First time played this course. Went with the intentions of trying the course and possibly joining next week, as they have waived their initiation fee. Nice course, not extremely impressed though. I can think of 3 other courses in this area that I like better. Will not be joining. The course is in incredible shape and well maintained, however, I feel it really lacks the character of some of the other courses in the area. Sorry Jack.

Par----4 3 4 5 4 4 3 5 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 5 71
Score 4 5 8 5 6 5 3 9 4 5 4 4 3 5 8 3 6 5 92

Front: Par 36/ 49
Back: Par 35/ 43
Putts 32

How can someone have 8 pars, take only 1 penalty, and finish 21 over par :( Ahhh, I remember, I forgot to take the driver out of my bag before I left for the course. It cost me probably 6-7 strokes. Lost another 2-3 in the time it took me to figure out that I couldn't hit my 5 wood out of the rough on this course. Usually never have a problem with this, but the rough was a little thicker. Once I started hitting Irons out of the rough, because of errant driver shots, it started to come around.

As a 21 handicap still struggling to find my way back to the 15 I was 2 years ago, All and all, not to displeased with the round. 1st time on this course, it usually takes me a while to get used to the characteristics. By the back nine, I seemed to figure it out O.K.

I had incredible luck with my Irons, putting was a little better than average. I had only 14 putts on the front, on the back we had about a 10-15 minute downpour that made the greens a little harder to handle and read, and left me with 18 on the back.

All in all, my driver was my big downfall. That and the 2 Quadrupal bogies, and 1 Triple bogey.

West Middlesex a tough parkland course
Shot 99 with a 12 on the last came off the seventeenth full of confidence having drained a twenty footer for birdie only to slice two in a row into a thick hedge neither of which could be found so I was seven off the tee. A real ***** because I was playing well for my slandered up until that point.

Played today on a rainy day, well rained off and on, not too bad.

Par 72.1 with a slope of 131

Front 34 back 39 for a 73. My putting is getting better, I had one three putt on 17 from about 20 feet :(

Looks like a lot more rain around here for the next few days so I may just practice an hour here and there.

Edited for spelling... can you add spell check on here ;)

I played on Friday and shot a 45. Pretty good for me considering that I've been playing for no more than 5 months. I was 2 over after 5 and then the last 4 holes just killed me. Triple bogey on 6. Triple bogey on 7. And bogey on 8 and 9. The last hole was remarkable though. It was a dogleg left which went up about 50 feet above the fairway. I had an ok drive that just stayed in the fairway. 175 to the pin I took a 6 iron and hit the ball right at the pin, it spun to the right and in to the bunker though. I ended up with a bogey, but I'll never forget that shot.

I've been practicing a lot lately since school got out last thursday and my scores have dropped in my last 3 rounds. It isn't so much of me practicing a ton but more of I finally figured out a swing I can score with. From the championship tees I have shot 79, 81, and then 83 today in my last 3 rounds. Today was pretty funny.

I was playing with my buddy out at my home course and he hadn't played in 2 months so he was expected to play somewhat bad, he still shot a 90 though. I felt pretty good going onto the first tee and started off bogey, bogey, triple, then managed to make some pars with a double thrown in there. Shot 43 on the front nine on a par 36. Then on the back nine my friend and I decided to play for a dollar a stroke for the total nine. So of course I start of double bogey then bogey. So we had a considerably long wait on number 12 tee box and I was just saying that if I really tried to I could shoot even par on the rest of the holes left. He didn't believe me so I said I was seriously going to try. 12- Par, 13- Par, then 14- double bogey, I hit my first tee shot in the pond, had I not done this I would've parred it, 15- par, 16- par, 17-par, 18- birdie. For 7 holes I shot 1 over with a tee shot hit in the water, had I not done that I would've been 1 under. AHHHH.

I'm playing worse this season. This 40 is my low score in these tournaments this year.

I had 19 putts which is high for me. I was misreading greens, but I didn't have any makable birdie putts.

I think I might have figured something out. It has been so long since I played or practiced with a putter that I forgot how to hold the club. I used to use a reverse overlap with left index finger down the shaft but the last 2 rounds I've been holding it like a baseball bat and using too much wrist which is why I think the ball is going left all the time. Was practicing in the living room yesterday so I will see the next time I go out.

You asked for it
After playing way over my handicap in several recent rounds (very windy weather made a shambles of my swing), I got back in track in the past couple of days. Concentrating on holding my posture, making a shoulder turn, and taking the club back relatively slowly helped a lot, but much-diminished winds and warmer temps didn't hurt.

Anyway, carded my lowest round of the year on Monday, a 3-over par 75 from the whites at our not-too-long (6400 yard) course with lots of trees, water, and thick 4-inch rough. The main significance of my 75 was greens in regulation, which was 12. Of the 6 misses, the farthest from the green was about 50 feet; all the rest of the misses were inside 10 feet! So I had a lot of birdie opportunities, but not many putts dropped. On the first 9 alone, I converted 1 of 5 putts from 6-8 feet. On the second nine I only had 14 putts, but still only made one putt of more than 8 feet (did chip one in from 50 feet, though). Just like it always happens, when one thing's on, another's off. Playing conditions were very nice over the holiday weekend, which meant much more traffic than normal and a lot of bumps on the greens. I had a 7-footer with 2 inches of break on the 18th hole that took me 8 tries to get in the hole. One of those that if you play it 2 inches above the hole (which I did when it counted), it ends up missing by 3 inches on the "high" side. If you go straight at the hole, it misses by 3 inches on the low side. Needed to be hit quite firmly and exactly 1/4" high of center cut in order to fall. That's what I get for finishing my round at 8 p.m. on a holiday.

Gotta be happy about the score and about my ball-striking (my shots with hybrid irons were particularly crisp), but the only time I make everything on the greens is when I take 50 strokes from tee to green.

That is exactly what I am going to work on next round. After 30 years, it would be a first. :D

I recently took a couple of lessons and we just worked on posture the first lesson. My posture at address was much better when I took the second lesson. At the end of this lesson the instructor pointed out that I didn't maintain a straight back at the top of the swing. I was also lifting up a little on the backswing.

Tee time: 4:20pm
Course: Bethpage Green

I started off today just thinking I'm going to concentrate on every shot, and try to do something with this horrible slice I've had. I mean the slice was horrid, I think if I aimed 30 yards off the fairway, It would come back, but only abou 220yrds, just horrid.

So I get paired up with 3 random chinese men, on the first tee I hit 3-wood, its only 350 downhill. So, I'm now in the rough 130 out. This pattern continued. Continued to struggle throughout the round, coming in with a 44 on the front. Standing on the 13th, 590 yard par 5, I decided it was time to fix my driver. So, I took the club back closer to the body, focused on making the turn and shifting my weight, and BAM!, smack down the middle, I would make par. I play the back 2 over to come in with a 37.

So I shot an 81. About my handicap. Although it was only a fairly good round for me, I really enjoyed myself playing with new people, and playing the final three holes in drizzling rain in the almost dark sky.

Cool.

Frustrating day to say the least:

Well today was the first official tournament for the summer series of tournaments in a local junior league i play in....oddly enough, its at my high school team's home course (which by the way i can't stand at all) and we played from 6450 yards

Anyways, front 9 was solid with 7 pars, 1 bogey and 1 birdie giving me an out score of 36...at this point i held a 2 shot lead over the next closest player. The back 9 however was a whole other story. My game went to hell in the matter of 1 hole and it was all down hill from there. To skip the details, i ended up with a 42 on the back giving me a total of +7 (78). Well that completely screwed me and i ended up taking 4th place, with a 73, 75, and 77 taking 1st-3rd place. I was fuming but no broken clubs!!!

Played Mt. Airy lodge yesterday, and Country Club of the Poconos today. On both rounds, I stopped keeping score after about 14-15. The first time in about 2 years I have done such. My driver is killing me with snap hooks, my woods were not much better. The way I hit my irons, I probably could have shot in the 80s if I would have teed off with a 6 iron every hole. As it was, I was probably over 100 by 14 or 15. Just thinking too much at this point, and probably will not touch my clubs again until next weekend. I went to the range to try and cure this problem but hit fine. I'm starting to wonder if I only hit it nice at driving range, may have to do with the fact that they are ratty balls with no dimples and do not spin. :(

edit 1 - It was worth mentioning, 2 beautiful days for golf. Luckily I can really enjoy a round regardless of how bad I'm hitting. Still better than sitting at home in front of the tube. :)

Shot 99 last weekend... Started off with a triple bogey,.. stabilised and closed with another triple on the front,... start again with a triple on the first hole back nine and closed with a quadruple bogey on the closin oar three that include an OB,...arghhhhhhh...... just when I thought I am closer to become an ex hacker,.. now I'm back in the hacker zone......

Logan River Amateur in Utah today...nice day with great company

I couldn't hit a driver at all. I only had one good drive the whole day. My handicap was just right at 10 to put me in the money. If I had a 9 I wouldn't have won anything. Being just a little worse paid for new shoes, balls, glove, etc. hehe.

Here is the round including a few pictures for those that would like to see the course.

Played yesterday in our clubs Sunday dog fight. You don't know who your partner is until after the round when you have a luck of the draw. They draw a single digit handicap(playing the back tees) to a double digit handicap(playing the regular tees). Drew a great partner that complemented me, I had one three putt green and number 10 where I lashed one OB from the tee.

Thanks Pard!

Par 72.8 with a slope of 139
I shot 77 and my pard shot 85.

bethpage caddy,
We have these every Sunday. It is a $20 buy in and they split the money into three places. All the single digit handicaps play together from the back tees and the double digits play together from the reguler tees. At the end (which is almost the most fun) you have a blind draw for your partner and then match cards against all the other teams. Everyone gets 80% of their handicap. We have everyones handicaps under control. We don't use the clubs handicap system, we use what the "dog fight director" has recorded from all the past dog fights everyone has played in. And since you have no idea who your partner is going to be you can't bag a hole just to run your handicap up, nor would you let anyone compete if their handicap is way out of line.... you will probably be playing against them.

Many people have a side bet going too. Some of the elders don't like betting with us younger guys and have complained about money they have lost a time or two in the past. I just stay out of that, I really can't afford it anyway.

My deal is; my dad pays my entry fee and he gets back any money won up to $20, after that I keep the rest. I made $78 this past Sunday :) I have to brag a little since I don't win all that often. Most of the time first place is about $100 up to $140 (per person) depending on how many show up to play.

If your in the area come on and play!

Played Lassing Pointe on 6/4 and shot 80 (par 71). Front 9 was 3 over and could have easily been under par if anyone else was putting. The ball striking, with the exception of hole #9 was as good as it gets for me. Out of 1 eagle and 3 birdie opportunities from inside 8 feet, I made 1. And that was inside the leather! I also managed to throw in 2 three putts from inside 25 feet on that 9.

Highlights: 9 iron on a par three to 2 feet. 2 iron from 225 to 6 feet for an eagle.
Lowlights: Dumping an 85 yard shot into the water on 17. 3 putting a par 3 from 20 feet that would have won me a carryover closest to the pin (my group has a rule on closest to the pins where you have to pay everyone else if you're closest and 3 putt).

After work today I headed up to the my home course an teed off around 2.30. Started off par, double, par, bogey, par, par, so far so good on the difficult front nine then on 7, 8, 9, three easy holes, I managed to double bogey each one. AHH. So I ended up with 45. Then on the back nine I started off bogey, bogey, chip in birdie, bogey, par, par, par, bogey, then on the easiest hole on the course, 450 yard par 5, I made a triple. To push me from a likely 38 to a 41. Total of 86, 15 over, not bad considering I made 4 doubles and a triple. There's golf for ya.

I don't have an official handicap, but if I figured it out it would be around high single digits. Been playing seriously now for about a year now and my scores are steadily decreasing. Once I get rid of those few bad holes I will be shooting 70's consistently no doubt. Going to be a sophmore in high school next year, so I have a few more years to work to get that scholarship I want.

Played a week ago Thursday at the home course my buddy and I play. Shot 38 on the front and 37 on the back for 75, 5 over par. Round was great. Had 8 out of 10 holes from nine through eighteen at par with two bogeys. I felt like I left several birdies on the table. Nonetheless I felt confidant with my ball striking.

Played this past Sunday. Same course. Started off tentitive. Finished the the front nine with a 4 over par 39. I had a double on a short par 4 and that didn't help. Started the back nine off with a birdie after bombing a drive over 320 yards on a par 5. Finished the back nine with a two over 37 and again left some on the table. Shot 76. Overall not a bad round.

Played our 9 hole league yesterday and I shot a 40 (slope 128). A very solid round for me, just par's and bogey's. It was kind of weird in that when I used to have a low round it usually required a few long puts to drop and a birdie or two. Yesterday was just solid nothing lucky. I took 17 putts (no 3 putts) and hit 5 out of 9 GIR. Problem is I only hit 2 fairways. I have got to get my driver in play.

What a fun time this afternoon!

Me and my dad along with little brother played nine today. My little brother is 13 years old and has been playing golf for about 15 months. He does practice hard and has improved greatly. He is playing some junior tournament golf this summer for the first time.

Today my dad missed a 18 inch putt for bogey while trying to backhand it on number 5. It came back to haunt him!

Coming up to number nine my brother was one shot down to my dad and has never beat him or tied him. Dad is on in regulation about 25 feet. Little brother hits the green side bunker. Dad three jerks it on the last hole. Little brother gets it up and down from the bunker to tie dad at 41 :)

I played Fladers Valley GC Red nine in Flanders, NJ after work yesterday from the regular men's (white) tees. Par 36, rating 35.9, slope 125, not sure the yardage-probably a little over 3000 yds. Did not drive the ball real well as I have been doing at the range, but hit my irons much better than I have been lately.

Par 4 5 4 4 3 5 4 3 4 36
Score 5 5 5 5 4 6 4 3 6 43

3 GIR, 17 putts and 1 flubbed drive. No lost balls, OB or water. Pretty decent effort for me as I'm normally in the low 90's for 18. This is the first year I haven't been in a competitive softball league this time of year in about 15 years, so I'm getting a chance to practice more and hopefully improving.

Yeah par 33. The 18 hole course is what you would call a proper course whereas the 9-hole which I played last night is designed more for the occasional golfer, with lots of par 3s.

I saved 5 shots yesterday because I used my putter off the green instead of my irons to chip to the pin. The course was in the mountains just to let you know I live in tennessee and when I say a course is in the mountains its up there. so it felt like the sun was on top of you the entire day with 90* heat and humdity. Also, on the 3 hole a heavy rain came out of no where and soak me down for about 20mins. As I'm typing this the sky is blue with a few clouds and it just started raining.

The hole I got a 7 on was a 600+ par 5 I hit my drive into the rough and I had to punch out because of a tree in the way but I hit through the tree branchs so I didn't get that much distance like 25yrds. The next shot was from the fairway did think I had to worry about the trees I hit a 3 wood but again I hit another tree branch within 50 yrds. away. So, 3 wood again got to the left side of the green had to flop onto the green and missed a 10ft hard right brake short by a inch or two then a tap in.

Had work today at 4 and had to do chores around the house so I only got to play 9 holes, and the driving range was closed. So I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. So I started off on the back nine and hit 3 wood to about 105 (short, narrow hole) then hit a GW to the front of the green and two putt for par. Next hole is pretty much the same layout, but this one is about 50 yards shorter and an easy birdie hole. Hit drive green high 10 yards left of the green. Hit a very sorry pitch shot to 45 feet then proceed to hit my putt waaay to hard and somehow it found the cup for birdie! 1 under through 2. Next hole is about 430ish. Hit my drive to 145 out then 9 iron with an uphill lie, stuck it to 3 feet and made the putt. 2 under through 3. Next hole downhill par 3 about 170. Hit a six iron pin high just off the green, another sorry pitch, miss the putt, bogey. 1 under through 4. Next hole uphill, extremely narrow par 4. Hit driver in the fairway 110 out. Uphill into the wind. So I haven't been hitting my wedges true distance lately so I hit my 135 club. Hit it through the green and get up and from there. Next hole I hit three wood to 135 and thin a 9 iron ALL the way across the pond and chip up from there and two putt for bogey. Now even through 6. Next hole 160 par 3. Hit 7 iron short. Get up and down from there. Hole 17 had about a 25 mph wind in my face so I try to hit a low tee shot but I drop my back shoulder and pop it straight up and it went about a hundred yards and barely in bounds, then I punch out to 155 and from there I push-fade it o.b and made a triple from there. Ouch. Just went from even through 7 to 3 over through 8. On 18, I make a boring par and end up with +3 38 from the tips.... AHH curse the 17th.

I had a great time being my brother's caddie yesterday.

My little bro just turned 14, been playing about 15 months, and played in his second real tournament yesterday.

He played about 6600 yards and he played really well (at least for him). He started out with three pars then hit one out of bounds to my surprise as he is very straight.

He turned at 41 and proceeded to par the first four holes on the back. He was getting close to the house after a bogey on 14 and being just one over on the back at this point. He cards a par on 15; then he tells me he doesn't want to card any worse than a bogey from here to the house (I hated hearing that). I try to tell him to just play, you're hitting it great (which he was), stay focused, etc. I must have failed at being a good caddie...

He triples 16, then triples 17 but made me and dad proud. On the green of 17 he was upset over the last hole and a half, set his putter down behind the ball, and accidentally moved the ball about an inch. No body saw it! He backed away and asked for a ruling all while tears filled his eyes, he added the shot replaced the ball, then went on to three putt :(

He made a great par on 18 and carded a good 43 on the back considering the two triples. He finished at 84; the winner shot 74. He did beat 1/3 of the older boys group (15 - 18) and finished in the middle of his age group (13 - 14).

We get into the car to leave and I tell him; "makes me want to practice, if I don't I won't be able to beat you in another six months". Our dad agrees
Shot a 98 with only 29 putts. I guess I couldn't really say that my irons killed me either. Took a ton of penalties, mainly due to bad course management. That and the fact that it was terribly humid, even at 7am. I have a real problem with humidity and griping my club. By the 5th hole I was in sad shape. For the first time I decided to use a "wet weather glove", just for kicks. It was the first time I ever tried this, worked really well. I tore up the back nine.

Maybe that and the fact that I feel bad drinking beer at ten in the morning unless my round is gone to pot. Could have used one on 4 and 5 at like 8am. :)
Copied from other thread. At least my driver didn't let me down today. A lower than normal trajectory, but a 230 yard low drive is better than a 120 yard snap hook in the weeds.

Our own little match play tournament
We put together eight buddies (most college golfers) for our own little match play tournament yesterday.

We had a blind draw who will play who, we are playing double elimination 18 hole matches. Each person throws $20 in the pot and we will pay three places.

You are to play them when you can this week if possible, simply call each other and arrange your match.

After the first day we stopped because of weather and we both had dates last night, I was 3 up after nine...hope we can finish this one off this afternoon.

After shooting 80 in my last 2 rounds I went out and carded a 90 on the same course. At least I was consistent with a 45-45. I wasn't really hitting the ball that badly, I just couldn't score. I had one horrible triple, one birdie and a few doubles with the rest being pars and bogeys. Don't really know what it was, just wasn't scoring like I should have. Oh well, such is golf.

Dumb round
I had a dumb/idiotic 9 holes yesterday. I've recently acquired a belly putter, and I'm having problems adjusting to our newly slow greens (greens were aerated a week ago, and it's rained every day since then, with very high humidity).

Anyway, the upshot is that I scored 39 on the par-36 front side, with 19 putts. Drove the ball very well and hit good approach shots on every hole. However, even though I hit the first 7 greens in regulation, I just missed on the makeable birdie chances, and I 3-jacked from 40-50 feet on three greens. Very windy evening, which fooled me on club selection a few times, added to the very soft greens (ball didn't release on landing) and some pin placements within 10 feet of the back of the greens.

I feel very, very confident in the line with the b.p., but if I have to kill the ball to get it to the hole, I'm likely to leave it 10 or 15 feet short. Ironically, I missed the green on #8 and #9 but chipped close enough to get it up and down. Apparently, I'm better off missing the green and chipping than hitting the green and leaving a 50 footer. Boy, will I be glad when our greens firm up again. Normally, they're about 10 on a stimp; right now, they're more like a 6. Playing nearly every day, you'd think I could adjust, but my sense of how hard to hit certain putts is apparently too strong to overcome.

today I shot 86, I'm very disguisted with my game right now. I hit NO fairways. Not one. I'm fading it and losing distance. I have a swing speed over 100 mph and cant hit a drive over 250 at the moment. I'm inconsistent with my long irons, my chipping and putting the is the best its ever been, but I'm not relying on it to keep my scores from getting out of control. I played with a senior who just graduated high school, who had a bad day and shot a 74. Man I wish I could do that. Maybe I'll take some lessons, or stop playing, or just screw it. Oh well.

Played twilight today on the Bethpage Green. Started at 4:00 expecting to finish. Round went good, was even after the first 5 holes, but made a triple and a bogey and came in with a 40. OK. I bogey the first two holes on the back, and birdie the next. Then between 12 and 13 a rainstorm literally blows in in a matter of seconds. We head under a tree near the woods for cover. The rest of the round was great playing in the pouring rain, and my scores reflected the weather. I came in witha 42 on the back to give me 82, which under the circumstances was a respectable score. I took some pics too.... enjoy!

Pics....

#1 (g2.jpg)- Looking back on the very short Par 4 10th hole. I hit my ball on the green, but there was a mound of rough as you can see in the picture, so I had to hit my 60* from the green to the other side of the green.

#2 (g1.jpg)- A view from the par 5 9th sideways, just shows the course and what it looks like.

#3- We caught up to the guys in front of us, so this is them teeing off at the par 3 11th, I believe it was playing about 170 yards today. This guy was terrible too. The pin was tucked, its hard get near it.

#4- This is a picture of the 12th green. This is the rain I was talking about. It was just pouring, as you can see the water on the ground. I tried to drive the green, and ended up in the trees on your left. then I pitched on the two tiered green and made birdie. Just look at that rain.

#5- This is a great shot from my walk from 17 to 18. We have to pass 15,16,17, and 18 of the black, so that is the par 3 17th of the Black course, just to imagine Tiger hitting to that green. To the far right you can catch a glimpse of the infamous 15th hole.

#6- A shot walking from the 18th hole to the car. Rain, darkness, golf doesnt get much better does it?

#7- I ran over to the first tee of the Black Course. If you watched the 2002 US Open you probably saw this sign a million times. Well, there it is one more time. I wonder how much that thing would go for on ebay?

#8- This is the front of the Bethpage clubhouse. That area to the right is where you wait online at 4am hoping to get on the black before noon. This is where your round starts, right in front of the club house. This picture is lighter than the others because I found out how to use the "Night Mode" on my camera.

I shot 83 today at my home golf course which is a par 69 and plays to about 6,200 yards from back tees. Due to me waiting on recieving a driver i used my three wood of every par 4. I felt i struck the ball extremely well today but no matter how i play i cannot shoot in the 70's this year. As i play of 9 i am expected to shoot 78. I just seem to have lost the consistency that i had throughout last year. An example from today, i birdied the par 5 4th then proceeded in making a 5 on the par 3 5th, i followed this with a birdie on the par 4 6th and then i slice one o.b on 7 and proceed in making a 7 on the par 4.

A few days ago I tee'd off at my home course. First hole is a dogleg right 440 yard par 4. Hit first tee shot o.b. with chunked chip and ended up with an 8. Rest of the round goes like this.
4 3 5 4 5 3 4 4 4 - 36 4 4 4 3 4 4 3 4 5 - 35 = 71
8 4 5 4 5 4 5 4 4 - 43 5 5 5 3 4 5 3 3 5 - 39 = 82

Started well by hitting a four wood up the middle then it all went to **** 112 on West Middlesex with 42 putts couldnt set up straight for love or money, over swung, swayed, and came over the top, pull slice hook push I played them all, couple that with heavy handed chipping and pitching and some of the worst putting you have ever seen and you start to see how 112 was achieved. But what I want to know is why I was hitting the ball so sweetly last night at the range and couldnt do it on the course?

Played twilight on the Black yesterday. I had the worst front nine I've had in a while. I'll go through it so you can feel my pain.

1- I tried that little punch shot that was mentioned by someone in this post, but it sliced horribly, and now I have a forest of trees in between me and the green. I try to get over them, and fail, miserably. I think hit a fade around the trees and up onto the green. I 3 putt, which I never do.

2- Tee up and slice it OB. I never slice! Now hitting 3 from the tee, I do the same thing again! Now hitting 5 from the tee, I take my hybrid and hit it to about the 150 yard marker. I get on and 2 putt. 9.

3. Hit one right into the right bunker. My bunker shot barely holds the back fringe. I sink a 40 footer for par.

The front nine had some more ups and downs until I came in with a 49! Yes a 49! Now I'm pissed. To make a long story short I rip up the back nine of the Black and come in with 34 to give me 83. My buddy who had never broken 100 in his life was having a great round. All he needed was a 7 on the last hole to break it. He 4 putts on the green to give him an even 100.

PS.. I found my drive on the back nine and destroyed the ball down the fairway.

thats a tough front I had the hooks for a while last year and suddenly sliced a tee shot OB and was like where did that come from. However I didn't recover as well as u and finished with 87 never felt conf off the tee rest of that day.

I played The Falcon, in hudson, Quebec a night ago. This course is rated #1 for public tracks in Quebec, and justly so, although the greens have a little bit of freeze damage because we didn't get much snow this past winter. It is a beautiful course. The 7081 yards is intimidating, but not as much as the brick castles that line the sides of the fairways...ching. Anyway, it was my first rouns out with my new irons, and the first round that, as rough as it was, I am not totally too embarassed to post over the past couple weeks. The irons were beautiful, although setting up took some adjustments because there is no offset in these, and I thinned a coulple at the beginning...these clubs are 1 1/2'' shorter than my old ones.
1 - par 4 370 straight...teed off with 5 iron just to try it out...thinned it, hitting a worm-burner instead. Put the 3 iron just off the green, chipped on and 2 putted for a bogey.
2 - par 5 539 dogleg right...bogey
3 - par 4 444 dogleg left...313 yard drive down left tree line. 2 chips and 2 putts...bogey.
4 - par 3 191...bunker...one out in rough...bad chip...3 putt...hate those! triple bogey
5 - par 4 436...another 300 + drive down the shoot, but bad chip...bogey
6 - par 4 338...yes, another nice drive...280...one chip 2 putt for par
7 - par 4 441...double
8 - par 5 510...double
9 - par 3 211...par
Front - 47

10 - par 4 455...snap hooked drive into trouble...sliced a 3 iron...2 chips out of the woods...chip on...2 putt...triple.
11 - par 5 525...greenside in two (driver, 5 wood)...fluffed a 60*, thenchipped onto the lip of the cup...par.
12 - par 3 206 over water...dedcent drive just off edge, but chipped down hill...fluffed the 60* again, then got pissed & chipped into the bunker...triple.
13 - par 5 587...3 bad shots and escaped with bogey
14 - par 4 430...bad drive, bad recovery, then beautiful 9 iron from 140 to about 6 feet...one put for par
15 - par 3 183...bogey
16 - par 4 445...ok drive...on in three...one put...par
17 - par 3 164...on in one and 2 putt..par
18 - par 5 535...straight drive about 270ish, then went at the 100 marker, but missed my chip to the side...missed first chip (60* again), then 2 putted to close out with a double bogey

Back - 46

I had never played at this course before, so I was quite happy with this score. I gave away a lot of strokes with the short game, and took the 60* out of my bag immediatley after the round - it is still in my trunk if anyone wants a good deal on a new condition lefty 588 RTG. I cannot claim any new irons strokes because I would not have done as well with my old ones, fitted or no. I would have rather been in the 80's, but I guess 93 will do for the first visit...on the plus side it is a really expensive course, so I found a couple $$$ balls, including PV-1's.

Tried something new today...played the entire round with only the 5I-SW. The course was 6082 from the Blues, 122 slope, par 71...winds gusting to 25, water in play on 14 of the 18 holes. Shot a 91, 35 Putts (1.75 avg on GIR, 2.00 on non-GIR), which tied my lowest score ever.

I tried the 5I on down thing because I sat down this week and figured out that if I can consistently hit my 5I 170-180 (which I do) and keep it in the fairway...then I should be able to shoot in the high 70s to high 80s for courses between 5500 and 6600 yards as long as I don't do anything really dumb. I should have hit 80s today, but the OBs killed me (more OBs today than I've had in the last month combined).

Highlights:

1 Birdie: 467 yard par 5, stuck a wedge within five feet, made the putt.

6 Pars: Four par 4s, and two par 3s...three via the trusty up and down. This surprised me, since I figured that par 4s would be the hardest to par without hitting a wood or hybrid off the tee. My scoring average for the year on par 4s is 5.63...today it was 5.11. Lessons learned...keeping it in the fairway, and putting an approach to a good spot to make an up and down from (lots of green, uphill, etc.) are more important to scoring for me than distance and going for the green in regulation from more than 160 yards.

I spent three hours yesterday experimenting with and recording a matrix for my chipping roll vs. carry. I charted carry:roll ratios for my 5, 8, 9, PW, GW, SW, LW for flat, slightly up and downhill, and moderately up and downhill. My chipping today was much, much better as a result. I would highly recommend it for people who would like to rely less on "feel."

And, I also learned that I can drive the ball 180 yards with my putter. I tried this on a tight fairway with water on both sides, and hard gusting winds. The ball never got more than 15 feet off the ground, but it carried surprisingly far, and rolled even farther. I think it's something I'm going to actually start practicing, and incorporate into gameplay on a regular basis. (Result of the hole? Par.)

I ended the day 14 strokes over my projected score for this course (a 77), based on the distance I hit my 5I and how many shots it should take me to reach a green using that as my longest club. Four of those strokes were courtesy of the three putt. Six could be attributed to the OBs. That left 4 to things like wayward approaches, pitches, chips, or whatnot. Not too bad. I think I'm going to stick with this and see how low I can go. :)

My God...you didn't put a divot in your putter face???I figured they were made of even softer steel than wedges since they need to transmit feel with much softer hits. If you start doing that you'll get some interesting looks from your playing partners...might start a trend though...be nice to not have to hear about the ''claw'' grip anymore.

Eh, no divot this time. It's a $15 putter from Wal-mart...I figure it's a pretty low risk proposition. I'm serious about adding it to my bag...that's one useful shot to have. Plus, it was just cool to do.

My game is at its worst right now and and it's prime time! My favorite tournament of the whole year is going on now! I picked up on the fourth hole yesterday. This is a two day tournament, too hehe. My game is completely gone.

It's lesson and break time. I'm just at home working on my Web site instead of playing in my favorite tournament...and now the tournaments are pretty much over for the year.

Played yesterday in a light rain the entire round. Kind of a strange round for me; had three double bogies which is rare for me, and had five birdies which is a couple more than normal too.

Played about 6900 yards and shot 74.

Look like a possibility of a lot of rain here thie entire week :(

Ben, the 3/4 par at Saxon is being played as a Par 3 so wouldn't that be 14 over. When I played last week it said that the Par 4 tees were closed. Can you play from there?

85 at chisel creek first time there only regular clubs in the bag where driver 18* FW and Putter. Everything else getting shortened regripped and loft and lie angles checked. Its tough playing clubs u arn't used too even if u used to play them.Missed the wedges the most though. Pretty nice coarse really short and tight. Hit 2i 4i into the greenside bunker on a par five. Only used driver on 4 holes playing from the tips and one of those was through the farway another pin high. Have to hit lots of mid to long irons of the tee. Super green though and nice thick rough thats very fair.

YAh I really enjoyed the layout except 4 a couple of holes that really offer no reward 4 certain risks. I was bombing my old peeles irons but acuracy was an issue they have this hossel weight that was making the face close. I play blades now and was not used to this at all.Anyway would love to play again with my regular clubs feel I could have done alot better. And it was about 1.4 hours away I am closser to Dauphin Highlands and its about the same price and better course so my pops will be a hard sell to go back especially since he played even worse than me 88 and i gave hime some lengthy putts.

LOL thats peerles not peeles

Broke 90 for the first time today, as I shot an 89 (4 pars, 10 bogies, 4 doubles, 33 putts) at La Plata Municipal in Missouri. It's a 6052 yard course, par 71, with a slope of 122.

I needed to play the last two holes in one over to break 90. Hole 17 was a bunkered 158 yard Par 3...stuck a 6I on the green and I'm thinking I'm good to go. The lag putt from about 35 feet was pretty decent for a double breaker, left me about three and a half from the hole. The par putt is a mild breaker that hits the high side of the cup and rims out for my second three putt of the day.

I take a few minutes to be not pleased with myself.

Hole 18 is a 359 dogleg left with the tee shot dowhhill and the approach uphill. Smack my Knight 17* fairway wood (more on this in a second) down the middle of the fairway. Pushed my 8I approach to the right, so I'm left with a short downhill pitch (with about thirteen yards of green between the edge of the green and the flag to work with) for up and down. Hit my landing target on the pitch, but it doesn't roll as far as I expect...14 feet left for par (and the sub-90 round) over a slight mound. I'll be darned if that putt didn't fall into the cup sideways on it's last roll! The putt god is certainly fickle my friends.

The Knight GAP wood (basically a hybrid) that I used on the last fairway was a $20 investment from Wal-mart the day before. I was hooking my TM mids too often off the tee, so I bought it as a cheaper alternative until I could get them reshafted or whatnot. It's 17*...but it has a shorter shaft that both my 16* and 19* Mids (but slightly longer than my 4I) and a slightly higher face (better for teeing it up with). Bottom line, I was carrying it about 180-195 before roll, and I hit 8/12 fairways with it (no OBs, sands, or unplayables)...not bad for never having swung it before today. The shorter shaft was nice off the tee...I felt like I had a lot of control once I figured out how to swing it. Lesson learned: a club doesn't have to be pricey to do it's job well.

Played at Allentown Municipal today....74 in the rain from the tips (6845), not too shabby.

9/18 greens hit
29 putts
Had a nice chip in birdie on the first hole too!
