He averaged 388 yards off the tee at the Sony Open. That's unheard of. It's the real Happy Gilmore :D . I'm excited to watch him on the tour.

Watched him closely at home here in Australia , and for a travelling pro he handled our
conditions really well, probably because he turned EVERYTHING into a drive and pitch.
A few more big tournaments under his belt and he will be a winner!!

    He sure is impressive...
will that make golf courses have 700 yard par 5's, 550 yard par 4's and 300 yd. par 3's? I sure hope not. I wonder how long his back will last. Tiger changed his swing to accomadate his back. Fred Couples has back trouble all the time, as did Nicklaus. Seems like big John is one of the few really long hitters of any age that still has his back. Could it be drinking lubes the back muscles? ;-)

i followed him and his group when he played a nationwide tour event near me, not only is he sick off the tee, but on a few occasions he put the iron back in his big and hit the D because people in the gallery wanted to see him hit the long ball, while that might not be the smartest way to manage your game on the course he is definately is not a stuffy fairways and greens type of pro, and hes going to be an enormous amount of fun to watch, he struck me as kind of a tin cup meets john daly type and i cant wait to see the type of stuff that goes down with this guy this year.

There is an article about him in the January Golf magazine. He averaged 334 all of last year on the Nationwide tour.

Being able to hit it ultra long makes him amazing in that arena only. Only time will tell if he has the whole package(which would make him and "amazing golf talent".
