To all the hybrid players

Wow I'm so sick of playing with you guys and your 7 fricken woods! Why can't you just be smart and play with a real set? You don't need your stupid hybrid to get to the green 150 yards away, just use a 5 iron. I don't know why people are switching to hybrids anyway, I hit my 3 iron way more consistent then a hybrid. I don't see Tiger Woods replacing his 2 iron with some retarded looking wood.

My message to you is please stop being a womon and embarrasing yourself and get a real set!(that means 3iron -pw, not 3 hybrid,4hybrid,5hybrid,6hybrid,7iron,8iron,9iron,pw.

It will help your game to

While you're at it, get rid of those oversized drivers and player forgiving irons. A real man plays with hickory shafted persimmon woods and blades. And don't forget your feather ball.....that's the best way to improve your game.

You are a fool and have no idea what you are talking about. Almost every player on the PGA Tour has a hybrid in their bag. And if you're only hitting your 5-iron 150 yards, you need to hit the weight room.

possibly care? Since when is carrying a club you can hit a bad thing? And while we're at it how insecure can you be to think it's less manly to carry a hybrid? Following your machismo way of thinking how come you use steel or graphite shafts? Why not be a real hairy manly man and use wood shafts and gutta percha balls? Or better yet use featheries! It doesn't really affect you at all, so why care? Honestly, let people play how they want. If its not your cup of tea, thats fine, you aren't playing with them...

You might want to consider that some people carry hybrids for other reasons too. I carry a 17* to gap my 3i and 3woood. It's more versatile than a fairway wood and I happen to crush this particular club with regularity. It's the perfect club for going at par 5's when I'm 230-250 away. I'd be a fool not to carry a club a can hit as well as that hybrid and I'm a long ball hitter. No self-esteem problems here. I use what works for me.

I played with a guy that had 3-PW hybirds. Then he had a regular wedge.

He carried some FW woods to.

I noticed this when he was 110 yards out and he pulled out a hybird. I almost wet myself..

the depth of this thread brings me to my knees....

p.s. 14arg270golfer, i carry a 19* hybrid and i could probably beat your ass up and down the course any day of the week, so don't try and comment on something you know nothing about when you say it will help your game to use a "real set" (whatever that means anymore).

I love my hybrid. I am new to golf and find fairway woods tough. My 19 degree rescue dual goes 240-260 and for the record I can hit my 5 iron 200-215 yards.

Everytime I see one of these "hybrids are for women" "play real clubs" threads, I feel compelled to impart my standard response, but since MPKelley and fred3 have already done so, I will simply say this.

A.) You only hit a 5 iron 150 yards? I hit my 9 iron 150 yards, and pretty damned straight. I know girls who hit their 5 irons further than 150 yards. Sheesh, be careful what you admit to on this board.

2.) If I want to go out with a set of La Jolla Snoopys or TaylorMade Miscelas and whip your @$$, what does it matter? It tells me YOU aren't playing the right clubs, huh.

Gamma.) You aren't good enough to put people down for the clubs they play. Once you start winning tournaments on the pro tour, then MAYBE you'll have some room to talk, but even then we'll call you an arrogant, unrealistic @$$hole. Besides, show me an article where Tiger has ever spoken against hybrids (or oversized drivers, or graphite shafts, or multilayer balls,...).

Until then, be careful what you post. We are a very surrly bunch lately.

I've bought two sets brand-new since the early 80's (Men at Work/Def Leppard era).

Both were 1-SW.

There's a quote on the Web where Nicklaus stated, "I mostly carry the 1-iron for effect now".

Lee Trevino has another similar quote about long irons.

If you're that much of a "tough guy" and "money-player", carry 1-SW in the same brand and two woods.

Play for major money. When you lose to the wimp with the hybrid -- join Gold's Gym -- and post here again.

No, I don't carry nor have I tried a hybrid. But at a Gold's Gym I once benched over 500 pounds.

hmm... i think that your yardages are a little off, for instance DL3 (Davis Love III) hits his 5i 185-190yds (i saw it in an golf magixine interview)... and hit 14* FW wood 240yds (carry) so man you can hit the ball better than one of the longest in today's game... not bad for a beginer ;)...
and who cares if i use a hybrid??? so i'll get mad at everyone who uses a 60* wedge instead of 58* wedge likw i do :rolleyes:

Bench presses are for kids and queers. Try running ten miles in an hour and a half with 50lbs. on your back.

i have to agree to an extent with wats his face ranting, just because personally i dont like hybrids because of the look and way they feel to me. Thats as far as i agree, that i dont like them either. But who gives a flying fvck who uses them, almost half or just over half the PGA tour uses them, theres a huge number on every single major tour taht uses them. Ppl hit the clubs they can hit, i cant hit one, thats why i dont carry one. ALSO, u whining bag, Tiger Woods himself has said in interviews that they help tons of ppl and spoken for them saying he's fiddled with them as well, and had taken the 2iron out for a 5W for todays rock hard greens to try and hold it a little better and hit it higher (obv. didnt need higher at the Open).

that no one has mentioned is that they allow players to drop two clubs e.g. 5 wood & 3 iron for say a 17-20* hybrid so that they can carry an extra wedge.

I personally hate hybrids myself - almost as much as I hate posters who start these BS threads. I keeping coming back here to give this forum a chance and keeping reading crap like this and heading back to other sites.

Isn't a light iron shot the same as an easy iron shot? You said you hit 150 yards with a "light" 8 or "easy" 9. That makes no sense. I hit my "light" 8 about 155 and my "easy" 9 about 140-145. The swing tempos are the same, but due to the change in loft and length, the distances change. See? See?
