My resignation and farewell
Not making a big deal out of this, I just want to let everyone know that I'm going to be leaving the forum for a while, if not indefinitely. I have other things in my life that are far more important at this time. and the overwhelming abundance of people going nowhere fast talking about things that really don't mean anything to anyone is just a waste of time for me. The forum isn't fun anymore. I've got a lot of important decisions coming up regarding college and other things, and the time I spend on this forum could be better spent doing pretty much anything else. Sitting here biting my thumb is more productive. A handful of members, mainly LC3, theidioticbizzare, LyleG, garciaisgod, Besson, and a couple others have turned a friendly golf forum into a huge flame war. It just isn't worth the time anymore.
I suggest you make a thread and vote for another moderator.
I may check in every month or so, but I won't be posting or viewing the forum on any kind of consistent basis.
Its been an interesting run as moderator, I did my best to at least keep things civilized here. Thats that.
Catch ya later-

To paraphrase Paul Azinger ''Best of luck, dude. Oh dude, did I just say dude on the internet?''
-
I know what you're talking about BPC. I'm heading into college this year and I'm worried that I won't have the time to even play golf let alone participate on this forum. I'm going to try to keep a GR window open when I'm writing all those college papers.
Good luck with everything and don't be a stranger to the forum.

Ahem.. how have I turned this site into a flame war??
-
finally my work here has been appreciated!
congratulations go to:
LC3, theidioticbizzare, LyleG, garciaisgod, Besson, and a couple others
and i/we didn't even go around editing posts, changing avatars, locking threads which had no reason to be locked...
:)

Very nice Guru... hope you have luck wherever you go BPC, perhaps one day our paths will cross
-
L8r BPC, hope to meet you in a tourney some day, you sound like a hell of a golfer. Just dont intimidate me with your ripped body.;)

This place has become a joke over the past few months. Too bad we have so many Toddlers posting and not enough adults able to post and be civil to one another.
-
BPC, sad to see you go because of those guys.... but you're dead on. Maybe you can stay and just give them their own forum. Call it 'Romper Room'. :)

I would tend to agree with this statement, the conversation has become less and less interesting almost on a daily basis. Oh well....everything changes i guess...

I completely agree. Too many immature kids posting about things that are funny if you were 15 years old. Grow up you youngsters. You are destroying the value of this golf forum and turning it some type of myspace.com chat room.
-
Its not all the kids, bud. A lot of adults are acting like said toddlers... just my opinion. I like the jokes here and there but the flamewars and all out attacks make me want to go hit up an AOL chat room for a fresh breath of maturity... and thats scary.
a/s/l?

Oh come on now Beth. You make a post bashing middle aged men, change the title, yet it still gets panned. So you are going to pack up the ladies gems callaways and head back to girl scouts?
Maybe you are being overly sensitive because you are a girl.
Either way, pretty low to quit when Francois needs you most. Guess there is more to your character than tight clothing and a psassion for 'middle aged men in front of me'. Just be grateful it was not 'middle aged men behind me (with hands on my hips) like last time.
Go find Quentin and Buddha. We can have a failure parade.
-
Good luck with the college decision. Best years of your life coming up. Hopefully you will check in from time to time as there is some meaningful conversation that exists here hidden within the flame wars.

Thanks soo much for all your contributions towards that end.

Does this mean there's a possibility we might finally get an adult as a moderator? Or will we once again be consigned to the junior high 'tape-measure' threads constantly?
I may check in every month or so, but I won't be posting or viewing the forum on any kind of consistent basis.
Even money says you'll log on here every day for the next three months, or at least until homecoming dance rehearsals...

Umm, yeah, okay... (LOL!)

Hey Bethpage....come on over to Shottalk and give it a go.
We've grown tremendously and have a blast.
Good luck with school and golf.
Bravo
-
Haha. Yeah, go to shottalk. It is no longer 5 guys who love each other. If you register it will be 7. Plus the ex moderator posse from GR.
You'll fit in great there. Not an opinion between the 5 of them to even disagree with.
-
You know Bravo, it is bad enough that our site admin. is recovering from an accident, AND our only moderator has resigned. I guess it only makes sense that you would come at this time to spam the board with a competing site, and try also to poach our golf/ fashion advisor.
Nobody needs new friends that badly. Well, I would have thought that until now.
So get over there and grow that site some more and leave us be. We are having enough difficulty with Francois being MIA and not having an omniscient moderator in tight clothes who stands all up on people.
-
Hi Besson:
I have no ill intent toward GR. The board is still going strong and I nominated you to be the Mod...I think you would do a great job.
My main intent is invite people to establish a relationship with a second board if they become disenchanted with where they are now - for whatever reasons. Each board does things a bit differently.
ST has grown quite a bit and are doing it carefully while at the same time I came back over here looking for Spanky because I haven't heard from him in awhile.
Looks like FriendofFrancois is doing well. Naturally I am sorry to hear that Francois got hurt in a cycling accident. Our roads are loaded with cyclists and I find myself barely missing them...
I got my index down to 7.1 which is my second lowest ever...with all of the heat though - I am playing only once a week.
How are your kids doing??
-
So much for Besson Vs. Shottalk. Way to take the high road Bravo. Took the fun right out of my day.

Don't worry about it. How is your family?
I still have my two girls...oldest is going to be 16 in January and I took her to a driving school in April put on by the Sports Car Club of America...it was pretty wild. They taught the kids how to handle the car in emergency situations at high speeds. The parents had to ride in the car with the kids. At the time, my daughter had only been driving for about 9 weeks.
They used a church parking lot for the drills. You would go inside and they would draw up a drill on a markerboard and then you would go out and get in your car with your kid. They would set up "road courses" with orange highway cones.
On the final drill I about crapped in my pants. The cones where set up in a straight line - about 400 feet long. A straight 'lane'. At the end of the lane, there was a "V" where the cones directed the driver to steer right or left to stay within the cones.
Right in the middle of the "V" was a horizonal lightbar. On each end of the bar was a lighted arrow - one pointed left and the other pointed right.
So you get in the car with your kid. You are at the very beginning of the lane. The instructors told you that as soon as the green light came on - to floor it, maximum acceleration - don't let your foot off the gas for any reason.
As you neared the "V" at the end, the light bar would come on at the last second, indicating for the driver to slam on the brakes (lock em up totally) and guide the car either into the left slot or the right slot - depending upon the direction indicated.
So off we go when the green light comes on. The car is a Nissan Pathfinder with a 240 hp engine. Pretty quick. I am whiteknuckling the seat while my daughter is following directions to the letter. At the last minute the lightbar comes on indicating a right turn into the slot at the end. She almost flips it but somehow manages to hit the slot pretty well with only two cones being caught underneath the car....
At that point, we had been through this for about six hours. We finished at 3 pm and I went home for a quick vodka...

When my kids came to driving age, we got them each an old Japanese sedan with 4 cylinders. It really takes away the incentive to pretend that they are a Formula I, NASCAR, or IHRA racer.

Same boat Bravo. 2 kids that will be driving within 6 months. One already has his learners permit. Which is cool, because I can have a beer or three and then force him to drive me to the range. Mini Chauffeur.
We all race go-karts, so they have learned many methods of car control. They are responsible and good, and I am sure they will drive carefully. I threatened to install one of those new black boxes in the car. I expect them to be very courteous drivers.
I hope we all have good luck as our kids take to the roads.

I like the Go-Kart idea...that would probably help.
She can't use rear view mirrors to save her life. We'll be driving 70 MPH on the freeway and when she wants to change lanes, she turns her head around to check the adjacent lane. So she has the back of her head to the traffic while she is checking. Drives me insane!! We went to lunch today in a rainstorm and I was a freaking wreck when it was over...gawd only five months to go before her birthday.
The weird thing about the driving school is that it gave her a false sense of confidence about speed. We will be on a little two lane blacktop going between towns with a limit of 35 mph and she will sail along just as calmly as possible at 50. I am yelling 'slow down!!' and she says, "But dad it seems so slow"...
She's an accident waiting to happen. Dork - I would probably put her in something nice and small and slow (with better MPG) but I'm afraid she'd kill herself.
Oh well. Rookie parent with a tight sphincter here...

i remember when i was learning how to drive. it scared my mom to death when she was with me. the only person that wasnt scared was my grandad as he cant see without his glasses on - he was as cool as a cucumber.
passed my test then 9 months later i have my first crash. black ice which should've been salted. the council admit it's their fault and thus my insurance isn't affected. could've died thanks to the damn lack of road salters. i stayed alive for all of you, so i can moderate and save this forum.
vote theidiot OR DIE!
