Ok, just got back from the golf course. Explanation for today, it was simply counter productive for me to be there. I wasn't helping my game out in any way staying to finish out, and my mounted frustration was just too much. Yes, my right wrist had a nagging pain on several shots (ie, FIRST tee shot on 3 was pretty bad) but not enough to really say anything about. I really just couldn't be there without bringing the group down. I felt awful, literally sick to my stomach about what was going on out there with my playing today. I was just awful and will stick to that. After I left, I went for lunch to settle down, went and putted, then the range, I then joined up with a skins group to go play. But I apologize to my playing partners, I just felt like being there would slow down the already very slow group. Don't worry, I heard about you guys all day. Complaints stormed the pro shop and I was given update on what holes you guys were on.
As for working with PM, he was there for a week and worked on a few things. Since then I have only tried to incorporate one thing into my own swing and have worked with other people. If you see my swing is NOT SnT by any means and was definitely off today. I usually practice with a camera so I couldn't really pin point in on the course today, it just felt awful.
That's really all I have to say.

A poll to determine whether the walkoff was a b!tchmove is no longer necessary. I wonder what the Vegas line on Qtip never posting again is?

So the pro shop is well organised I see, putting all the POS shovels in the same area.

We had twosomes flying up our a.sses. We'd let other people play through, and often did. 4 groups I counted? They cheated, they knew where they were going. We on the other hand.. Did not. At all.
Edit: Oh, FD I noticed one gentleman had a complete Ping Eye 2 BeCu set. The PE2 design may look ugly to my eyes, but I can respect a sweet looking set when I see them and they were beautiful.

This looks like a dis. Are you dissing the other GR participants? I have to say that this sounds very much like a major bit.ch move. You were suppose to spend the day playing in the match with the GR guys, and you went and joined another group for a skins game?
Spank was correct.

Riverologist was right in his initial assessment. I've never seen anything like this in all my years playing golf. People flew in for this tournament and the guy who arranged it decides to leave after the 6th hole because he's playing poorly? Then he has the audacity to go play in another game? Like they'd say in Fat Albert...."NC...No Class".
How dare you Sir. Haha! I guess it's just a fact that none of us played well. You out short gamed me though that's for sure ;-)
It's the camera effect, Pottsy, you and Mward have no shame (well, except for your wardrobe selections.) At least you guys hung in there and played and didn't run off to hide like a couple of little bit.ches.
-
A few observations from today's events.
-Pottsy is exactly what I would expect a Geordie to lok like and looks like he would be right at home in the middle of a soccer riot with a lager in one hand and a broken bottle in the other. Definitely not one to fuk with. I would like to see a photo with a better shot of the teeth though, couldn't tell if he had a British smile.
- English handicaps don't travel well
- Fagg clothes on opponents is Big Dave's kryptonite. Dave, guys in pink shirts and visors should be more used to getting their arses waxed, not boof heads like you.
- Mward's choice of clothing belies the mongrel undrneath. Gutsy effort on the last.
- Qtong pulled the GR biatch move of the year. Walking off after 6 holes shows a distinct yella streak running down his back. He should look at Dave's effort to keep going despite stinking up the course.
-Sooner missed a golden opportunity to finally beat Dave. Even a 90s shooting sod laying chopper like him would have smoked Dave today.
-

Where the hell were you raised? If you are hosting some mates or guests you don't run off to leave them to hang in the middle of an event. And, you call this an apology? He needs to hand in his GR membership aloing with the GFF on his way out. His gutless display is not worthy of owning either.

Amid all this qtong controversy I forgot to congratulate Pottsy and Mward on a great match. Well played fellas!
You may not feel you played your best but sounds like a great match and great comeback for Mward after Pottsy lead early on.
Sorry your game was left in Texas Big Dave. Or did you leave your swing on the driving range with all that practice? Never mind. We all know what it is like to have an off day like that.
Great stuff and look forward to the video.
-
Based on WITB of Pottsy in his profile and his astute selection of sartorial items specifically for this match, I am indeed surprised that he did not take it by several strokes. Throwing the checks-with-stripes, visor, and black socks with white shoes at the opponents is some seriously heavy golf mojo. Perhaps that is what really got to Qtong who looks like he can play good, at least in his swing videos, and its his club. So, as outrageous as it seems, it is his club and the others were there as his guests. But if it were you all at my club (if I were again a member of a club), I would stick with you all the way and if I had died on course, would have urged you before hand to just bungie my legs to the back of one of the carts or tie me to the cart roof so my dead eyes could watch you all play your shots and drag me along until the finishing of the 18th hole or the last playoff hole, however many holes past 18 it took. Then you could call the EMT's.

Agreed! It was the matchplay equivalent of shock & awe. He lead early but faded in the stretch. Maybe it was the travel factor. Or maybe after the 12th Mward was able to collect himself, recover from the initial assault on his senses, steel himself and with the help of his pink shirt launch a fightback.

In all seriousness, to invite GR buddies (including an international guest) to your club, then to slink off the battlefield in the middle of a GR sanctioned match, leaving them out on the course with not so much as a goodbye is pretty cowardly and the height of rudeness. To then meet up and go back out on the course with other, non GR, guys shows a complete lack of class. Qtong has reached a new GR low that even Fred the turd hasn't sunk to. or shame Qtong, for shame. I'm no catholic priest (I prefer mne to be female and of age), but I'd guess that it woud take at least a thousand hail mary's to get around this one.

What's funny about his explanation is that it could easily be used as a troll on another board to incite harsh responses. The amazing part is that it's real. He actually left the group on the 6th hole because he wasn't playing well, went inside to have lunch, went to the range, putted for a few minutes and then decided to play in a skins game. All the while he had to hear the members complain about his slow-playing guests. Then he explains that he's not there to entertain anyone and has to concentrate on his own game. I think this is better than my troll story about how my father bought me the wrong set of clubs. The greatest part is that it really happened and the guy doesn't think he did anything wrong. This is the stuff legends are made of.

I've never walked off the course in my life. The closest I came was in protest during a big tourney when it was pouring rain and we could see guys waiting to tee off waited under cover even though play wasn't suspended and we were playing in those conditions. But I stayed and scored my playing partner's card and encouraged him on to a win in the nett. Ripping up your card and just playing along without scoring when you are really on the nose is understandable, but walking off the course is unforgiveable.
-
Jeez, Qtong, after that last post, i'm not going to pull any punches. I have to agree, you're one self-centered arrogant jerk, and a p.ussy. Do you think Dave was enjoying his golf today? But he manned up and we may tease him but we've all been through it and respect him greatly for how he handled it.
But the worst part is you ditched your guests, some of whom flew in for the match. Then you join another group! Then you have the utter audacity to criticize your abandoned guests for slow play!
I've made alot of critical comments here but they're virtually all in jest and mean no real disrespect. Here I'm being serious. And fine dismiss our respect, bu what about self-respect? Not so easy is it.

No, it happens whenever your host ditches you and leaves you to figure out the course on your own. I know you guys are trying to be diplomatic about this, but you can be honest with us since you're not likely to ever see Qtip again. Everyone who has ever played a new and unfamiliar course knows how difficult it is to shoot well and find your way around without some help. No shame to you guys, this all rests on Qtip's shoulders. I just want to hear him come on and confess to the fact that he is really a woman and had to go change his tampon because of a bad flow today. That would be more believable at this point.
-
You're playing badly so you leave? How are you going to ever learn to handle adversity?
I've beaten guys before, and I've gotten my arse handed to me as well.
Either way, you stand there like a man and you fukking DEAL WITH IT. With grace and humility.
Guys flew there for a purpose, and you stranded them? Then you went and played another round with someone else?
Seriously, grow the fukk up. That's a bull$hit move to end all bull$hit moves.
Maybe you should just stay on the range with the video camera. Because apparantly you haven't the HEART to be a man on the course.
-
I take back all the jokes I made about your Oriental background, Qtip. I have decided that you are not truly Oriental. All the Orientals I have known or met, including my Vietnamese aunt who makes the best egg rolls on the planet, are all more honorable acting than you were today. There is only one thing you can do to restore honor . . . . . . . .

I don't care. No offense to my playing partners, but I'd do it again to pi$$ off all of you old lifeless creeps on here. Literally, with a few exceptions (including dave, mward and pottsy to name a few) everyone on here are lifeless old creeps who literally have nothing to do but sit and talk with their INTERNET friends. Do you not have real friends to hang out with? 5000 posts?! 10000 posts? There should be no pride in that because that is the ultimate sign that you guys are worthless human beings who are incapable with human friends. I've realized I shouldn't have done that, but the fact that within an hour, almost everybody in this site has something to comment on it shows that no one here has a life other than an internet forum. I take golf very seriously, not an excuse to sign up for an internet forum. You know who the coolest person on this forum is? LARRY, because he hooks you clowns and you fall for it every time! For my playing partners' consideration, if I could do it again, I would not have left. Other than that, I'd do it over and over again just to upset all of your closet internet nerds. Why in the world would I slow the group down and stay behind? I hate playing with people who are slow because they are just plain slow or are hacking up the course. I was hacking up the course and slowing everyone down. So I left so that everyone could play without waiting. FD, are you married? Youre what? in your 30's don't you have kids to spend time with or a wife? The fact that you guys go out of your way to name a KING of a forum is beyond childs play. Get over yourselves, if you were all that great and such great people, you would reach 10000 posts or 5000. I sign on to find something interesting to read or to egg larry into posting more threads. But half the junk on here are just you clowns playing dungeons and dragons golf forum style. And posting the pictures you do on here is absolutely inappropriate by ANY standards. You nerds find it funny? Of course you do.

Finally hooked up a working keyboard to my laptop!
OK...........Qtong WTF Dude???????
You know I had a copilot once that was a hosebag like you were today (generally speaking) Then we strapped a gun to his chest and a couple of mags on the other side, trained him well, and he became a man! You are one misguided individual You host a show and walk off and play with others? What the hell is wrong with you? If you could not play... you stick with your guests....period! Dude, like in life....there is more here than a game! You have a lot to learn...and its NOT golf !!!!!!!!!!!! You could have scored 120 and still be a man.
Too right, he should have stayed and played the good host. Dave might have been able to break 110 if Qtong had given him some local knowledge.

You can tell a lot about a person by having a round of golf (or part of a round as the case may be) with them. This crybaby has come back on here talking about how he sacrificed himself to leave them to play quicker, like he's the victim. I can almost forgive someone packing the clubs up mid round saying they are just not enjoying playing and don't want to bring everyne down, but you still stay the course and enjoy the company. He could have driven the carts arond to the next tee while they were putting out, shined their shoes, or shaken it for them when they were hanging a piss, all things he seems abundantly qualified to do. But no, thist whimp decides to sulk off in a tizzy fit, then sits around the pro shop hanging crap on them for being slow. As well as a coward and a crybaby, he's a two faced back stabber.
A grown up does not act like all of you do on here I'll tell you that. It was a long time coming.
How are you going to act when your perfect little range swing fails you, for just the briefest of moments? Well, at this point in your life, you answered that question. Rather than gut it out and finish the round, you quit. Then you suddenly had the balls and the swing to play in a skins game?
Show some heart and some class. Of course you lack both. So instead, please just fukk off.
-
Which give me credibility to call you a little girl.
You even have trouble putting two brain cells together long enough to make a good comeback, don't you? You're pathetic.
-
I've never walked off the course in my life.
I've never walked off either. I've broken clubs, kicked the shiat out of my cart, etc. But always apologized to my playing partners and bought rounds for my poor manors.
All I can say qton is you are obviously wrapped up in expectations to lose sight of why you were there. All things in life are not about you or the way you think they should be. I'm sure you wanted to play well. Great but you stunk it up. So what? There had to be some good times out there in that match even if you just kicked it and watched.
This is a life lesson qton. Figure out now or the next time you have your panties bunched in a wad and run off you might lose more than face on a golf forum. They say you learn a lot about someone when you play golf. It seems like selfish, rude, and quitter are appropriate adjectives for your showing today. Sad.
-
You even have trouble putting two brain cells together long enough to make a good comeback, don't you? You're pathetic.
I honestly don't know where every else stood. I could have been winning and would have done the same thing and had no idea. I don't even know where I stood. So comeback was not on my mind. I cared about my game which wasn't close to making me feel comfortable about playing on, so I went and worked on it.
-

Even Fat Jack himself said he expected t hit no more than about five or six shots a round exactly the way he wanted to. He was of the opinion of gutting it out and thinking your way around the course. And not quitting. Every club has one or two cry babys who are always walking off the course if they aren't having a career round. We know which member of GR that is.

For real. There have been MANY rounds that I've shot like shite. But you don't just walk off. I've picked up on a hole and just stayed in the cart and let the others finish the hole, then start fresh again on the next tee box. But you don't quit. Especially in this situation. Guys spent a lot of $$ to play, flights and hotels aren't cheap. So you show them respect and AT A MINIMUM hang out and drive the cart for the rest of the round. Tend the flag, buy a round, give them a course tip SOMETHING. But it seems that he doesn't realize that it's NOT ALL ABOUT HIM.

Like the Gunny would say. You're the type of guy to phuck another guy in the arse and not have the goddamned courtesy to give him a reach around.

Qtip, I have hope that you will listen to the overall theme of what you are being told here and learn something very valuable for the rest of your life, but I fear you are going to be one of those young pri.cks that already knows everything at the age of 20 something. You had days on end to practice your swing after today, but you only had today to swallow your pride and play a gracious host to guys you invited out to play on your home course. What about that do you not understand? It is RUDE behavior to walk off and leave them, THEN not take up for them whenever others are complaining about them, and THEN go find another group to play with! It just a bullshite move, Qtong! So don't make yourself any more of a worm by slapping Big Dave, Mward and Pottsy in the face by saying on here that YOU WOULD DO IT AGAIN AND THAT YOU STAND BY YOUR DECISION! That is not being a MAN, Qtip, that is being an arrogant little BI.TCH!

You're right it was rude to them. As I said, I would not do it to them if I could turn back the clock. And yes, I did explain to the pro AND the general manager that they were here on vacation and to let it slide. It is rude, and I shouldn't have. Hind sight is 20/20. But that's me. You can point a gun at someone else but all of a sudden when it's pointed back you can't handle it? Getting a little defensive? Hmm....
-
Here's another lesson for you, Tong. Stop taking golf so seriously. You're not very good at it. You obviously have some natural talent, but you definately don't have the temperament or mental toughness to ever be a really good golfer. Are you one of those guys that takes up golf at 20 and found you can hit it as long as low mark amateurs then get delusions of grandeur and tour aspirations? I hope that your walkoff was captured on video and becomes a YouTube sensation.

I'd love to use the camera as an excuse but truth is I was very relaxed. I have played under a lot more pressure than that. I have putted awfully all vacation but my long game was good so I still scored OK. today even the long game let me down!! Very glad I participated though ;-)

Well, I'll be in for a tournament in late April so maybe at some point I'd be at your local tavern.
-
WOW.
I'm just catching up to the thread here... Just have to say I'm so angry right now my hands are shaking.
First of all, I must do the gentlemanly thing and congratulate Mward and Pottsy on their NEVER QUIT attitudes and willingness to gut out the match to such an entertaining finish. Even though Dave's game was off you guys at least gave him his money's worth.
Second of all, I hereby retract every positive thing I've said in the past about q-tard.
What a selfish, self-centered, arrogant douchebag.
Ditching your guests like that for such selfish reasons is really bad, but your behavior in this thread after the fact is disgraceful. I second the notion of hoping the walk-off was captured on camera and becomes immensely viral. You deserve nothing less than complete humiliation for your behavior and attitude.

Okay, I"m only going to do this once.
I was not inclined to be overly concerned about the walkoff. I know what it's like to be young and frustrated with the game, and many serious people are telling him this game is his future. When he hits it sideways he feels he is disappointing himself and others and there is a lot on the line. I was a college golfer thinking about being a pro, and every shot mattered a LOT to me at 20, and I did some temper-related things I am not proud of.
The walkoff I get.
But a genial, gracious man meets us at the turn, asks us how it's going, follows us for a few holes, cheers the good shots, asks us if we need drinks, or brings them without asking.
A genial, gracious man meets us at 18 to shake hands, apologize again for the walkoff, to congratulate the winner, to thank everyone for coming and hope they enjoyed the outing, etc.
You have no idea about any of those things, Qtong. You are charmless, graceless, loutish. You do not know what golf is really about. After walking off, you went back out with others, leaving YOUR guests at YOUR club without your attention at all. And you throw out here that people were complaining about us, as if that somehow inoculates you against what we have to say about your actions. "yeah, but... you guys were rude slow-players, so there, nyah".
A genial, gracious man says to his club "I invited them, they are my responsibility, if recompense needs to be made for them, come to me." and the genial, gracious man DOES NOT TELL US, HIS GUESTS THAT COMPLAINTS WERE MADE ABOUT THEM.
There is no excuse for your having mentioned this. It is ungracious in the extreme. It reveals much about your character.
I wish you good luck in your golf career, Qtong, but more than that, I hope you develop some grace and geniality. Without those, golf is an empty, shallow pastime, $$$ or not. If you do not genuinely appreciate the time spent on the course with the guys, enjoying the weather, the back and forth, the competition at whatever level, the camaraderie... then golf, and life, will be rather bitter for you. If it is all about you and your game and your future and your frustrations and your wants and needs... well, the playing partners you choose will be people like yourself, and satisfaction on any level will be hard to come by.
You can learn from this and remember it and grow up a little, or you can walk off in a snit and be surly and pretend to yourself that people are stupid and don't understand you. I'm an optimist and I think you will use these lessons later, even if you don't really admit it to yourself.
But I won't be playing with you again. Life's too short.

Speak for yourself Yaz, there are plenty of people here who have never made a mistake in their life and are perfect in every way, and who would be on tour if life didn't conspire to keep them down. Especially over in the review section.
-
My observaitons of he who shall never be named on GR again is of a deluded kid with dreams of becoming the next Tiger, despite showing no talent whatsoever, and whose expectations are totally unrealistic. He needs to get out of fantasy land and realise that if he was gonna make it to the tour, he would have made it by now. In that quiet time alone like sitting on the can) when our mind starts to wander all of us have dreams of playing on tour, but most of us leave those dreams in fantasy land where they belong, and don't go out on the course and act like a little biatch and walk off after 6 holes because we're not 6 under par.

I wonder if the guy who has been wiped form GR records followed the threads and saw how much trouble you went to just to get there. Maybe if he appreciated this he would have behaved differently and been a good host, but I kind of doubt that.

qtang is a sneaky chink retard, but I am posting something I was taught about golf before I started, and I suck at it, but I will kick your ass in many other endeavors...
I digress.
There is a reason that golf is played among a foursome in a quiet place, with a game/sport that is extremely frustrating.
You can judge a man by the way he behaves on the golf course, and you would hire/not hire simply based on his behavior, even if the golf is really good.
A man may curse and swear on his way to playing even par, but you would know not to hire or do business with him in the future, after playing with him...
A man may score a 96, playing badly and laughing/talking through the whole round, treat all to lunch at the turn (but your instincts tell you he is not bullsh!tting anyone), and he gets a contract, because he is just cool under pressure...
In the world of men, being 'cool under pressure' gains respect. You hit a bad shot and shake it off without a word, and you have developed self control.
Golf may be a game, but it shows others around you what is deep inside you... good player or bad player, regardless...
There is a reason why golf is used so much in business.
Golf exposes what a man is inside; does this man have the fortitude/wherewithall to handle this job/contract etc.

Damn, at 20, I was the polar opposite of tang...
qtang is my new enemy. I have a new enemy! I was searching for so long!
qtang, get off my forum. You are done.
This is my forum.
Time for you to leave yellow belly; excuse the pun.

It looks o me like the best part of Qtong slipped down the crack of his mumma's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress.

I think Qtong owes the Mward, Pottsy, and Dave a huge apology. I am talking a Tiger Woods after 10 mistresses apology...and words aren't enough...the apology needs to be video taped, so that I can judge the level of sincerity with my own eyes.
If you make an apology video, where you acknowledge and own up to everything you did wrong and you can say it with sincerity (no giggling or half asssing), you would take a huge step forward in my opinion.
Its time to do whats right and give these guys a proper apology on video.

One of the best descriptions of the relationship of golf and character, whether in business or personal life, I have ever read or heard. This was how I was taught about the game when I was still in elementary school and you were obviously taught the same way. Bravo. I will still give the kid a pass due to his age. He is obviously too young to have done what he tried to pull off and, to paraphrase some old ancient Warrior, that which does not kill him will make him stronger. But he has to realize how close he is.

I have traveled often, given and received invitations of all sorts, enjoyed the company of many different kinds of people as guest and host.
I have never invested hundreds of dollars and two days of my time to travel a thousand miles at the invitation of a fellow golfer, to play as his guest at his club, and then been treated with that level of distance, surliness and defensiveness. It is unheard of in my 35 years of golf and 50 years of living.
there are many who are equally surly, selfish and defensive. It is a trait of youth, and I have too much personal experience with those things to be terribly critical of them.
But how does a person default to those behaviors after having taken the initiative to be a host, to invite people to travel to his club and play as his guest?

On the whole, it is unforgivable. Perhaps a genuine apology would go a long way, but the character of a person who will act this way under this circumstance is not the character from which such an apology springs. he does not even know what he's done; how can he really mean an apology?
It's disappointing. I experienced better from him in our match. But it is a fully told story at this point. He cannot recover from it in my estimation.
I truly do hope he grows up and benefits from this experience, that he actually learns from it. but I will not venture any more money and time on that possibility. He has worn out his welcome from me, in a day.
Do you not have real friends to hang out with? 5000 posts?! 10000 posts? There should be no pride in that because that is the ultimate sign that you guys are worthless human beings who are incapable with human friends. Get over yourselves, if you were all that great and such great people, you would reach 10000 posts or 5000.
Gotta agree with Qthong on this one. The real benchmark for someone that has no life is 2000 posts. Fukkin' losers.

Well said Dave. I didn't realize that he was actually serious about being a tour player. That's unfortunate, really, because it's simply not possible. Well, I shouldn't say impossible because there are always the Greg Norman types that take the game up at 16 and then become a plus 3 a year later. To be an amateur with a chance to make it on the PGA tour, you should have already won several city championships and at least one state championship. You should qualify for the US Amateur and then make it to the final stage. Right now I'm a 5 handicap and I'm 42 years old. No matter how hard I practice I could never make it on the Champions tour. I would be playing against guys like Davis Love, Phil Mickelson, etc. I do not have the experience of hundreds of junior events, college tournaments and amateur victories like ALL of the upcoming successful junior golfers have.
Golf becomes enjoyable when you accept your limitations and enjoy that great round where everything comes together. Every skins group I've played in always has a few guys with expectations that are too high. They're always sulking and pissed off no matter what happens. They just need to be slapped and told that they suck just like the rest of us.
