Define "logical sense." Let me define it as well -- logical sense to me is something I have learned and understand. "No logical sense" is something I do not understand nor give a flying phuck to understand whenever I am comfortable in what I DO know.
Carry on in trying to convince me that I need to learn the metric system, after growing up with the US system all my life, AND especially since my HTC Inspire phone has an app on it that calculates and converts all standards of measurements.
Logical sense in the context which I was using the expression means the simplest way to approach the mathematics which describe the problem we are attempting to solve. Fewer calculations... a much more simplified equation. Less work, and math that's simple enough to do in your head.
Think of it in these terms... the Imperial system is akin to a horse and buggy. It's reliable, it succeeds at its intended task, but it's also slow, and horses often need to rest, eat, and for the most part are unable to be depended upon to maintain strict and precise scheduling. A new automobile on the other hand, is also reliable and successful at its intended task, but it travels at a much higher rate of speed, and is more dependable and predictable than a horse and buggy.
There's a reason automobiles have replaced the horse and buggy. Those reasons are the same as why the metric system is superior to all others. Greater efficiency and reduced workload. It's the best we have for now, until someone can come up with a better idea.

Okay kids, whats the big deal about hitting hybrids? I'm 53, actually played other sports when I was younger and am (145 lbs in HS, voted MVP in football and baseball by teammates) paying for it now....why do some people on here frown on others hitting hybrids? If some people hurt when they hit, why not make the game easier? There's a guy named Dana Quigley (Brett's dad, used to play on Tour) on the Sr Tour who uses a 6 hybrid! Are YOU better than him?

Hybrids are for queers and women...
What do you think men used 80 years ago, when men were men?...
All you jackasses get past 40, and you lose your balls and testosterone with your bad diet and lack of exercise, and before you know it, you are weaker than a woman hitting hybrids instead of a man's club...
Just man up. Don't be a little b!tch. Don't use hybrids.
I swung some strangers hybrid years ago; I only hit it once, and it was sooooo easy...
I said to myself: "I ain't no punk b!tch. I am never testing one of those gay crutches again," and I never have.
To each gay man there own,
spank
p.s. I play with blades, but then, I haven't locked my balls in a pink purse just yet...

I am a 42 year old and don't even exercise that much (although I've got back into it lately), and the tought of using a hybrid has never crossed my mind. If the day comes when I can't get enough distance with the 3 iron, I'll add a 5 wood, not a bay arse hybrid. But I think that day is a long way away, I'm hitting my irons longer than ever as my swing continually evolves.
-
HAHA funny stuff guys, haven't been called a queer since probably grade school! I assume you know that quite a few members on the PGA Tour use hybrids.........have a good day, hit those blades straight.

My 23 degree Cobra Baffler DWS hybrid's only value is when I'm in the rough and need to hit a high 200 yard shot to a green or for a layup on a long Par 5. I get much better results with a 3 iron on a long Par 3 or from a good lie. My biggest problem with hybrids is their tendancy to balloon and come up short.

There are a lot of f@ggots on tour also; thus the increase in hybrid use...
Until I get a d!ck up my ass, bump ugly style, I will never use a hybrid club, and getting 'bump uglied' won't happen very soon to me so I am sticking with my blades.

Then I wonder if tiger wood will go to a hybrid since he doesn't have guts to finish when he's hacking out there? Men stick around and finish, cowards run..................funny how some on here think they're as good as PGA players..............if you were true to your word you'd still be hitting wood driver, huh? Johnny Miller and Niklaus said yeras ago it'd be interesting to see if woods' body held up the way he swings......tick, tock, tick, tock............The Players was a GREAT Tourney, wasn't it? BTW, I'd bet KJ did his lifting without PEDs.

BTW, didn't get in to check on you PGA-qualities last week, was in Arizona golfing. Great stuff and good times.

I think you mentioned somewhere before that hybrids are not reliable under pressure. I aree with that. I find that drivers and irons are precise and reward good swings, but fairway woods and (from what I've seen) hybrids tend to spray it around even on good shots. The bottom line is that if hybrids were everything the followers claim they are, everybody on tour would be using them, instead of just the faggotts.

And now wood announces he's ready for the US Open. Quick recovery..........for a coward. What're you gonna shoot on the front there, wood? Will you cower away again with some mystery injury, only to announce a few days later that you'll be ready for the British? What a joke.

He suffered a grade 1 MCL sprain back in April. It takes 3-4 weeks for them to heal. He didn't make it worse during his 9 hole stretch at the Players, just aggrivated it. If you figure that put him back a week in healing, he should have 3 other weeks to let it sort out. Perhaps if you'd have done anything remotely athletic in your life, you'd know how far you can push an injury before your body tells you it's time to stop. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome does not count as an injury, and jerking off is not a sport.
And let's be honest, this was the Players Championship not a major. I'd bail on that tournament too.

NOTE-The loser who brings up (unknowing) someone else's athletic accomplishments while hiding behind a keyboard is (1) a coward because he doesn't have to face the person, and (2) a frustrated athlete himself-someone who never accomplished anything themself. Me? I can live in my skin over what I've done and sonny.....no brag, but you're wrong-about me. I used to love to compete against mouths like you.
If he wasn't gonna make it worse then why did he quit-AGAIN? Oh and Sparky, check your wordspell next time, okay? Thanks, and apology accepted in advance.

Note: The person who has to stoop down to looking for typos has nothing left but to admit they're wrong. Aggravate. Better?
"If he wasn't gonna make it worse then why did he quit-AGAIN?"
You're putting words into my mouth. I said he didn't make it worse. Not this is an injury that can't be made worse like his ACL back in 2008. He could have made it worse and upgraded it to a level 2 MCL sprain, which would have taken months to heal. Or, he could have ruptured his MCL and potentially ACL.
It's like twisting your ankle badly playing any type of fast action sport where you need to do a lot of quick direction changes. It hurts like hell for a few minutes and maybe you think you can come back in. Hell, you may even tape it up just for the extra stability and everything seems ok. Now make a really hard change in direction on that ankle. Maybe it's ok, maybe it's not? In Tiger's case, he thought it was ok until he really had to use it in a "game time" situation, not just warming up.
-
No hard feelings, it just seems like wood is liking the Wie excuse game. After all there IS a difference between the excuses wood uses and real reasons. If he'd have shot 34 on the front-playing good, he'd have put on the same 'performance' he did when he milked the knee in the US Open at Torrey-what a BS 'story' THAT was! Run back the tape and see when he 'limped'-it was only after bad shots and then look at the jig dance he put on after he made the putt to tie Rocco on 18. Excuses, lies, faking, etc....all about wood since he isn't good enough to compete anymore.

Win a US open with no ACL then come back and tell us how tiger is dogging it White Bread. Tiger's pain tolerance cannot be questioned. Mward was right, he pulled out because he could have made it worse.

Go back, look at the tapes. The ONLY time he limped in that tourney was when he hit a bad shot-but boy oh boy when he hit a good shot or especially this, when he made the putt to tie Rocco on 18 he danced around like Fred Astair. Isn't it coincidental also that all of his self-made home troubles came forward soon after? I wonder if the knee 'injury' was an excuse so he could take time off (also there was discussion back then about possibly testing for PEDs-good way to not get tested, don't play) to not play. Either way, he can't win now, justice is served.

If you have the factory Aldila NV HL proprietary shaft in that hybrid, you might find an upgraded shaft would add to the club's utility. I've got a 20* and 23* Baffler (pre-DWS) that I put V2 stiff hyvbrid shafts into. No more snap hooks, no balloon balls. Hit them high, low, fade, draw at will.

Speaking of Arnolds, what odds that Arnie (Schwrzenegger not Palmer) has as many mistresses as Tiger? Both are roid heads, it stands to reason they would cheat on their wives. It's not about how good or bad their wives are, it's just that the the roids make them want it all the time and if their wives aren't around they get it elsewhere. I honestly don't think either formed the premeditated intention to cheat (well maybe Tiger did), it's just that the combination of being a roid user, an alpha male, and a winner means they have a physical predesposition to nail as many skanks as they possibly can. There would not be a powerful man in the world who doesn't bang skanks on the side, especially as their wives age and lose their looks. It's part of what makes them winners, they do what they want when they want to who they want. Even the haters of this forum couldn't argue that Tiger and Arnie are huge winners in the game of life.

Sorry to confuse you so easily. THE ohio state is a university (college) and they have had a cheating football program for years. I know you're a kiwi and that might confuse you too, sorry. I doubt its just Ohio State. I can almost guarantee the SEC is far worse...You can't find a seedier bunch of coaches anywhere.
Speaking of college football...Keep an eye out for Virginia Tech QB Logan Thomas this year. He is 6'6" 245lbs and fast with a big arm. The dude has the best WR corps in the country and a Reggie Bush type running back. If the Hokies crappy offensive line can play half way decent this year, Logan might tear up the ACC. I just hope he hangs around for a couple of years.

SEC is much worse, NCAA lets them operate under a different set of rules. And even though I'm a west coast guy (OSU Beavs) I could/would like seeing the Hokies up there this year, sounds like the QB might be a Newton/Pryor type physically but with some class and respect for his team rather than being a boorish pig that only goes for what HE can get.
Interesting to see how Pac 12 goes this year with Utah and Colorado joining and how Oregon-LSU goes first week of season. An SEC team actually traveling unforced to west coast? I know, I know its unbelievable but my hats off to LSU playing a real ooc game instead of the jayvee teams their fellow conference opponents pad their schedules with. Good luck, sounds like VT might be exciting to watch.

Good, truthful read. Too bad someone works 30-40 years and can't retire because insurance is too high to afford. I have a friend who told me 20 years ago I should get into insurance because from then forward the people who would be making the most gains wage-wise would be insurance agents. Ahhhhh, I remember those days.
I'll never forget my best friend and I's first encounter with sex. We were in 7th grade and coming home on the bus from a basketball game. He was in the back seat with Robin Gears -- school ****. I was three seats in front of them with some girl who wanted to talk about some stupid shite all the way home. We get to the school and all the girls get off first. I hop into the back seat with my friend and ask him, "Well, how did it go?"
"I got me some poon!" he said excitedly.
"Bullshite," I said, "you didn't get any."
"Yes, I did, here smell," he said thrusting his fingers up in front of my nose.
Now, I had never been close to exposed poon until I was 17 years of age. I am not going to lie to you guys. But, whenever he put those fingers in front of my nose, I smelled them and said, "Yeah, that's poon alright."
I was a really bad liar back then.

I like watching the final day of the US Open but for whatever reason it always seems like it takes forever to watch and moves very slowly. At the end of the tournament it's always sort of a letdown. I know you don't like Tiger but I really enjoyed the 2008 US Open as well as the one at Pebble where he wiped away the field. Last year's was terrible. That chubby little Irishman got lucky when Justin Donson blew up. I'm hoping a big name wins it this year. What would make it really exciting is if Mark Calcavechia was to win playing Ping Eye 2s. I'm not sure if anyone on the tour plays Ping Eye 2 irons any longer and it makes me feel sad. Excuse me...sniffle.

Hey I had a set of Eye 2's, bought'em brand new and played with them for 8 years, good sticks. Calc? Now that would be cool-and unbelievable, has he qualified? What I'd like to see would be to have D Johnson come back and win it this year, or maybe have an 'old' guy like Couples make a run (even though I think his place is Augusta, he can compete there for another 10 years). My coolest Open? It was pretty cool when Watson had Bruce on the bag for their last Open. Magical.

It's funny you mention Couples because I don't ever remember a US Open where he even contended. I may be forgetting a tournament or two but he is not a US Open kind of player.

Goosen is a US Open type of player, I agree Couples isn't. But he's still cool.

Couples has always been one of my favorites. I always route for him to win. I followed him around at the 1987 US Open for two rounds back when he was 27 years old. His only wins at that time were the TPC and the Milwaukee or something. He just had this amazing swing and hit it a mile. They were all still using Persimmon back then (with the exception of a few). He was playing Ping Eye 2 irons at the time and that's what led me to buying my first set. He was one of the first guys, along with Bernhard Langer, to start dressing better on the tour. Guys back then still wore polyester stretch pants and Penguin shirts. There were tons of women following him as well. He was very popular and knew it. A little arrogant but what can you expect?

You thinking it will be fun to watch the rest of the pack fighting over the bone Tiger has thrown them? I was thinking the same, I agree with you. It might be interesting watching a major where the result doesn't come down to one player winning or losing of his own clubs.

Freddie's cool, he's the James Bond of the PGA. Swings SO easy and hits it a mile. He will ALWAYS be a contender at Augusta. I noticed (lucky to get tix) at 2003 Wed practice rd at Masters that he smokes-and he even looks cool doing that! Go Freddie, keep studdin' out for us old guys!

Well Tiger sure has thrown a Mastadon bone Adam Scott's way. Stevie Boy on the bag. How big's that? Stevie finally has the bag of a guy with good wheels and no serious baggage--pun intended. If Scott wins at Congressional, I bet it turns into a permanent Southern Hemisphere thing. And when Tiger comes back he will snag another Swedish woman to tote his sac. But he'll have to steal her away from Stenson.

I think Stevie has a very big decision in fornt of him very soon. Tiger has been the best thing to ever happen to him, but it could easily be argued that Scott, with the new confidence from the broomstick, has more wins in him than a prematurely aging and broken Tiger. Scott has always had the swing, but now he finally has the putting to take his game to the top level. If Stevie wants to stay on the bag of a money earner for a few years to come he might have to ditch Tiger and stay with Scott. With Stevie on the bag I would put Scott in as one of the big chances this week, although if I had to bet I'd go for Phil. Is Phil favourite this week?

Wow! Big call. Since he is just a guy who 'carries a golf bag for a living' what on earth makes you think he can enhance the chances of an underachieving bum like Scott?

Scott is still riding the high of his strong finish at the Masters, he is very close. With a cool hand like Stevie on the bag Scott might get that little extra edge he needs to get over the line. Nobody has been on more major winning bags than Stevie, his experience might rub off on Scott.

It's more psychological than anything. Consider that retard Kiwi-caddie a walking, barely talking rabbit's foot.
If Mickelson wins, I predict the headline will be...
"Fat Phil Finally Finishes First."
I'm calling it now so when you all see it, you'll know where it came from.

I think Tiger pays Stevie a salary. I believe it was reported back in 2002 that Stevie was paid $750,000 by Tiger. That's just his salary. I'm sure Tiger would pay him the same regardless of how much he plays. I think Stevie should just go pick the best upcoming player would could benefit the most from his expertise. I would think that would be Bubba Watson or Dustin Johnson.

Looks like we have a new PGA star to root for (or against) in McIlroy. The kid is a stud. I hope he can hang on and win it after his Sunday nightmare at Augusta. He deserves to win it, especially after the classy way he handled himself after that round, granting interviews instead of storming off. Class act.

I agree. If Tiger is gone we need another dominant player to make the game more interesting. Rory has the best swing I've ever seen and I think he has what it takes to win multiple majors. All I can say is he better win this one. No excuses with an 8 shot lead.

AGREED, NO excuses with that big a lead, he really should have learned something after Augusta-and I hope he did, that will help him close this out. You're a class act kid, hit'em straight!

GREAT stuff happening on the PGA Tour-Watney shooting 62 today and 63's from Marino and Kirk, and a 64 from Simpson. These kids are flexing their muscles and are proving they're gonna be forces to deal with-great stuff! But STILL.....................there are some members of the media who are still sucking off tiger wood, putting him on their headlines in hope IF he ever gets competitive again they'll have an inside track to roundmouth him even more and get his punk attitude interviews. Why don't these imbeciles report on whats really happening on Tour and not what they fantasize while stroking themselves? Sickening BS................go kids, go Euro's, anybody who beats that racist punk.

And Brandel Chamblee (TGC) would LOVE to put on a skirt and go on a date with wood. Maybe Tilghman, Chamblee, and wood could have a threesome...............

Yeah well it doesn't break my heart. Most of the media I think loves it too, the guy is simply arrogant. Did it break your heart? Are you one of them that won't watch golf without wood playing? If so sorry, thats humorous to me. Maybe some of his fans will give up golfing now too-be easier to get tee times, play will quicken, etc....

If you're one who likes to play during the British Open, you should be sad that he's not playing. Courses are a little more empty when he's playing, meaning you can DVR coverage and watch it later or follow it via smartphone while you play.
And on another note.. You know his name is WoodS right? There's a distinct S on the end. How hard is it to spell all 5 letters correctly?
Are you one of those guys who call it Taylor opposed to Taylormade?

You might consider referring to him as eldric. Tige is a fictional character created by his dad, erl.
It's a well documented syndrome. Beanpole...Roids/hgh....swollen muscles/loss of rationale behavior....physical breakdown...door hitting ass on way out.
Elin inserting steel girder up his gazoo and thoroughly analizing him was I guess technically part of the door leveling his ass on the way out. So long eldric.
MW, you're right, but this now helps save the FF button on my remote.

MWard, I'll enjoy it (British Open) just as much as any other year. And taking time to spell someone's name right is a sign of respect.
NOSHUZ-I don't exactly what he did to his achilles, I just know when an athlete starts having trouble with them they're usually not for much longer. I think we can compare whats happening to wood as to what happened to a football player named Brian Bosworth-off the 'roids and its constant injuries.

All those scores proves is that the course was a joke, not fit for professional tournaments. This is a direct result of Tiger's sad demise. When the man was around, the greenskeepers were desperately Tiger proofing their courses in the hope the great one wouldn't embarrass the membership with super low scores on their courses. Now they are being told by the Tour to make the courses easy to give the illusion that the new guys can actually play like Tiger. Look what happened at the US Open. When Tiger was around the courses had to be set up so hard to negate him that 69 and 68 was a good score, now we are seeing these stupid scores. If I want to see a golfer rip a course apart I can turn on the play station.
Nobody wants to see names like Watney and Marino next to scores like 62 and 63. Another glaring example of how much we need Tiger to come back and make things right again.

I really hate to agree with NAH but i must in this case. The US Open course was set up with soft greens, light rough and wide fairways. They have to make it easier for these schleps now that Tiger is gone. If Tiger was in the field they'd all be scared. Rory would have choked. Everything would have been different. That's why they call it the Tiger effect.

I'm going to take this Tiger effect phenomenon a step further. It has impacted amateur golf as well. Since Tiger has left the stage, and this second class talent is being mislabled as "Top Players in the World," many skilled amateurs are practicing harder and playing better. They see these choppers like Donald and Westwood at the top of rankings and think they can make it on tour. We are seeing better amateurs as a result of Tiger's absence.

I know you've been away for awhile so I will be easy on you.
It has been proven that qtong's horrid play was a direct result of the embarrassing dress, behavior, and pace of his 3 "guests." Hell, you've got pottsy taking out a slide rule so he can track the length of all his putts. Could you possibly maintain decent form with this type of disrespect right in your face?
I don't disagree with your side-theory, but I think qtong is an exception. I will agree that the current group of choppers occupying the top spots in this world is also giving false hope to talentless amateurs. I can see the Tiger effect affecting the unemployment rate, as numerous trained/skilled workers in their 20's and 30's quit their careers to pursue tour cards. The world needs Tiger to come back ASAP.

If he does what you're saying then I might just have to be on your side for once. I have to admit I'm getting tired of Tiger. The Steve Williams thing is the worst thing I've seen him do yet. None of us know what his marriage was like and who knows why he fooled around. However, Steve Williams assisted in his 69 wins and 13 majors. He could have spoken to him in person.

Stevie is a whining POS who should be kissing the ground that Tiger walks for what he did for him. Good riddance to bad baggage I say. Tiger has showed class and poise the way he handled this ingrate sheep fukker.

I didn't know that. Actually, I saw an interview with Tiger on TGC last night and he does bring up a good point. He said that he's done a lot for Steve W as well. That's absolutely true and obviously Tiger has done a lot more for Steve Williams than the other way around.
So, now I'm a Tiger fan again. I can't wait for this tournament to get started so I can watch him play. Now we have a real tournament on our hands. It's about time.

Did you notice the new Tiger in his recent news conference? It looks like there is another new member of Team Tiger--the make-up artist. Tiger's skin color looked like it had more of a granite hue and his chin hair was sculpted in a look that reminded me of another head on Mount Rushmore. It is a very serious look and if I were one of the contestants in this week's bash in Ohio, I would be a little bit afraid of my chances.
