Putting...getting the big muscles working
Just noticed if i slightly activate/tense my chest at address whilst keeping about a three pressure on my hands i feel like i have way more control of the putter going back. And still releases well online. I knew activating my core stabilizes my stroke already but this is new to me. Anyone else do or heard of this? It may be useful for pace also as i seem to get better feedback from the big muscles for swing length as well.

Monty,
The tilting or rocking action you use to (supposedly) keep the club on line contributes NOTHING to help in judgement of pace, if fact it works against it. The shoulder tilt is a compromise action which has one objective only. to return the putter back to the address position at impact.....and as you know it is inconsitent at best (otherwise there would be no such thing as a push or pull)... Go here and try this test exercise: http://www.droprightin.co.uk/page3.html
For distance control the right hand (for righties) must be in charge....
Prove this for yourself....pick up a ball and roll it at a target.....
Did you use any shoulder turn?....Er no...
You stood in a tenpin bowler's stance and rolled it with your right hand/arm
That is what your body wants to do naturally (your body knows you know,,,,:))..
So although you use a tilt or rock of your shoulders during the putting stroke, ultimately the right hand is in charge of the business of hitting the correct weight....
Ideally the tilt/rock of the shoulders should follow the lead of the right hand, not the other way around...
Give it a try, you will improve you ability to hit the correct weight...:)

Sounds like you may have found something that works for you. If anyone else can utilize your visualization then that's great, but like passing on any feel oriented info it's a crap shoot.

Depends on what 'feel' the guy is trying to pass along.

I feel I might love you Fred. That is a feel I can accurately convey with just the printed word.

LOL
And I've got my hand on my dick at the moment..
But until you know how big it is, how can you possibly know what it feels like?.....:D

andrew, your point is well taken and so is the link you have provided.

but i think monty may also have a point as well. not everyone comes with a set of mind/body that can quickly regear for different pace of swing. some may be too erratic or quick or jerky. if those can limit the swaying of the backswing, at least they can swing in plane better, thus contact better and make them think they control pace better. just a thought.
