Freddy Couples' Stance
I watched Freddy over the weekend when he played in Hawaìi for the Mitsubishi tourney, I believe. There is NO doubt that he has an open shoulder and yet he shot straight at the target... every shot... Even the golf commentator mentioned it... Everyone can see that.
What amazed me is that Fred still can drive 300+ yds

People get way to caught up in the idea that if you don't do X in the golf swing then you cannot possibly get Y outcome.
It's just not that way.

As I mentioned in another thread, I also have an open stance for yrs and I shoot a ball quite straight. I've tried to have a square set up but the ball (most of the times) goes to right. I learn to trust my swing... whatever works then use it, I wish that I could pound 300 yds, but I would be happy at 225 yds at 60.... hahaha... When I don't have distance it's difficult to break 80s... I could only break 80s 2-3 times a season, which sucks big time

Fred Couples is a bum who leeches off the silly season events that real golfers wouldn't waste their time on. He has got to be the most overrated golfer of all time. Smooth lookng swing doesn't always equate to real golf talent. Couples is a good example of this.

It's the 'power fade' he hits. Rotation without pronation equates to plenty of power in a natural fade. He also possesses a massive body turn through impact.
See how his feet set up to the ball. Slightly open to allow more hip rotation. Notice that most professionals set up with an open stance, spare for a few such as Jasper Parnevik. They do this by stepping into their set-up with their right foot first.

NAH: when was the last time that you outdrove and outscored Freddy? we did not see that evidence anywhere... so, suck it up and enjoy your game :)

It's very clear that Freddy has an open shoulder, aims left and shoots straight. He trusts his swing like I trust mine. I have not videotaped my swing but I think my shoulder is "squarer"
-
Freddy's feet, hips and shoulders are all open. He swings in to out and there are many on tour with this type of move.

When was the last time I claimed to outdrive or outscore that bum?
Being able to beat me doesn't make him a better player. Just like him being able to beat me doesn't increase my handicap. It's all relative. This type of lame response from you is what you expect on shittalk whenever you carpet Hogan or Phil.
But if you want evidence to back up my first post, look up how much money he has won on the regular tour, then see how much he wins in the silly season, and average his winnings per events played in each and I think you'll find that I'm dead on about him being a silly season specialist, and a real golf torunament bum.

Him being able to beat you makes him a better player than YOU, that's for sure.

And see how many tournaments he won on Tour, and how many more he might have won if he hadn't started to have back trouble in his prime...

I think it was more his putting trouble than back trouble that stopped him winning more. I'd bet Johnny Miller has seen 15 handicappers who could putt better than Fred.

Why do you imagine that back trouble would cause you putting trouble?
The whole thrust of modern putting is that you do it by keeping your hands hand arms still while rocking your shoulders. What do you think you need to move when you do that?

I think Freddy has a good stance on women. If they start bothering you...dump them and never look back.

He has to look back every month whenever he pays alimony . . . . .

Actually, Freddy has been a model of spousal support management. One ex committed suicide and another is from one of the wealthiest families in the world (Bren which owns the Irvine Ranch here in OC). He might actually be getting alimony from her.
You go, Freddie.
-
I don't understand the alimony thing. In Oz, you only pay maintenance for children in the relationship. You don't have to pay spousal support, and as far as I've read Fred has done the right thing and not contaminated the world with his genetic line. Women here get the chance to take you to the cleaners in the carve up of the assets, but unless they have a kid to you, after the divorce settlement you can them wipe them like a dirty arse.

In the U.S., there are two sets of laws. In California, and most other western states, community property applies. Absent cp, spousal support is standard. In a cp state, there's supposed to be child support but not spousal support. In practice, spousal support, even absent kids, can be significant. If a husband gets a wife accustomed to a high standard of living, he's responsible for maintaining that, after divorce, through spousal support, even if she's a total *****.

I've always thought that if you have to pay alimony for your ex-wife's standard of living, then she should be obligated to come give you a blow-job and swallow for every check she receives. That's how I would have wrote the law anyway . . . . . . just saying . . . . . .

Better to have your girlfriend do the b.j. and your ex-wife do the swallowing.

Ooooh . . . . . kinky, . . . . . I like your thought process.
