my first Hybrid, a Callaway BB Heavenwood 5H 26* loft
my first hybrid...nice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
today i played with my first Hybrid, a Callaway BB Heavenwood 5H 26* loft which I compared to my 3-iron and 4 iron.
Heavenwood 5H 26* (which is about the same length as my 670 3-iron) is easier to strike and goes a bit further than my 3-iron (S300 shaft), but then again I notice my 3-iron goes barely much further than my 4-iron (after my 5-iron, practical reliablilty has been elusive, so far). More importantly than theextra distance, the Heavenwood 5H 26* is more predictable for about 180~200 yards or so than any of my irons or my 3-wood.
I needed something easier than my 3-wood 15* that will not carry as far (210~240 yards) on a 200 yard Par 3, greens on a mound, that isn't so challenging as my 3-iron (160~180 yards) to stay in play for par. Hybrid's also handly around Par-5s, esp. after a drive I'm not so happy about.
Perfect: Callaway BB* Heavenwood 5H 26* has found a "home" in my bag. (*But wtf about this "Big Bertha" marketing name??)
Best of all, I got this club for free, from work, and I mistakenly choose "Regular" graphite flex istead of "Firm" flex, but turned out to be just fine as I like it and my wife (the lady also liked) and our son can also use it.
