Hips
So in the past week i have learned that my big blocks are a result of not my hips spinning open, but from my hips sliding forward laterally at the top of my swing just before i even start my downswing. Just working on eliminating that has greatly improved my game...
My big question now is, is there any sliding back and forth in the hips? Right now im trying to swing the club with zero slide/sway backwards or forwards until after impact. Is this right? Or is there some degree of hip slide before impact in the backswing or downswing????

It all depends, It used to be received wisdom that a press of the knees towards the target was the way to initiate a Powerful and acurate strike. More recently advice has been to keep swaying to a minimum. I know Leadbetter changed nick prices swing by among other things stopping his swaying. The drill he suggests is to stick an umbrella in the ground by your left foot and hit shots with out pushing it
