Bending Machine recommendations??
Tired of traveling every time I need an iron adjusted. Anyone recommend a bending machine for loft and lie that is easy to use?
Thanks.

I'd also be interested to hear about this. Thinking of picking one up in the spring so I can keep tabs on my irons and adjust them if necessary.

Bought one.
I purchased the Golfsmith Ultimate loft/lie bending machine last month and have bent 4 sets of forged irons. This machine is awesome and I can recommend it. The degree gauges are milled therefore accurate.
I was amazed how far my 'custom' set was off. My neighbor, our golf pro, was off an average of four degrees. His marks from the lie board were so far on the heel it was amazing. We moved all his contacts to dead center and delofted his irons each 3 degrees. Mine was off somewhat too but not as bad.
Cool little machine!

Sounds like a great little machine , but for $699.99 (website) you have to play a lot of golf and adjust a lot of times to justify the money for this machine. From material standpoint , bending 4 degrees could easily weaken the strength of club heads

yoyo - you are truly a DB.

I wondered about that. He said go for it, he gets iron sets for little to nothing. So far he hits the ball stronger and much straighter. It is pretty cool.
OK, I'm afraid to ask, what is a 'DB' ?

There is no doubt that if you have a correct lie and loft then that's best for your game, the ball will fly true and where you want it to be. If I had $700 free I would have that toy for fun. I had a discussion with a head pro last weekend and he told me that for "cast" irons you don't need to adjust your lie/loft... If you play with forged irons, it's recommended to check your loft/lie every year... So there you have it

He's referring to the fact that cast irons won't distort over time and use. Forged irons are soft enough that you should check the lie and loft occasionally and tweak when necessary. The only problem is that if "cast" irons aren't fitted correctly to your specks, then good luck bending them, I've tried and it's a task.
This machine is a lot for the few times needed. I plan on only buying forged irons in the future whether muscle back, cavity back, blade, or whatever.... I've had my sets all custom fit and all have needed tweaking. I think it's because they go off of one mid-iron for the lie angle and that doesn't quite work for the longer/shorter irons. Also, no one custom fits loft. I just bought a new set of KZG Tour Evo's and was hitting them higher than my set of standard Evo's. Bent them two degrees stronger leaving the lie angle alone and now their great.
Just my $0.02.

I hear ya Tmac. It took me a month to attempt and justify spending that kind of cash. I'm a tinkerer and no one custom fits loft and I had two drive 2 hours for lie angle adjustments. All the pros have 'strong' irons and it makes sense to me. My irons are now 3* stonger than standard lofts. Living in the windy mid-west it helps with trajectory and keeing shots on line. Amazingly, spin hasn't changed much.
