    Mickelson - Callaway or Nike?

After leaving Titleist and wanting more than $4 million a year, where will he go? Even though he made comments about Tiger and Nike, if they offer the money...???

I doubt Mickelson will go to Nike. Its easier, for me, to see him playing with Taylormade. Taylormade is a little more serious about their golf equpiment, as Nike is just starting to be serious about advancements.

I think he will end up with either Callaway or Taylor Made, more likely with Taylor Made. I just don't see how he would fit in with Nike.

I think he'll go where he gets equipment he feels he can play successfully.

    Ping!!!

Yup. You heard it here first.

He came from Ping, he's going back to Ping.

He'll be playing the 380 driver and the blade irons and wedges next year.

  6. Please don't let him go to Nike. We have seen what happens to players at the top of their game when they make that move. Callaway or TM both sound very reasonable.

I actually see Phil with Cleveland. The TA3's or TA7's kind of fit into his PM custom set. With stronger lofts and cavity backs. Then again, Taylormade may also be a safe bet. Phil is definitly more Equipment oriented when it comes to golf.

I believe strongly that he will either sign with Taylormade, Callaway/Hogan, Cleveland, Ping, MacGregor, Mizuno, Adams, Precept, Nike, or Viagra. Hey.......I might make a good Democratic nominee for president with strongly held convictions like that!

Thanks for clearing that up, as i was thinking he'd go somewhere where he'd fail.

We have evidence that shows that Mickelson is holding Callaway X-16 shovels and will sign with them.

What's that you say?... what evidence?

Ditto on the Republican presidential nominee.

He signed a deal with Callaway. He will be using an ERC Fusion prototype, HX prototype, Big Bertha fairway woods, and supposedly will stick with his Titleist irons, wedges and putter. Word has it that he will be working with Roger Cleveland to design a set of irons and wedges.

Fred3 you dope. His manager has already said that he will go to the company that pays him the most. Get off your altruistic bucket.

    Here you all go....

    Callaway signs Mickelson
    BY DOUG FERGUSON, ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Oakville, Ontario

It didn’t take Masters champion Phil Mickelson long to find a new equipment deal, signing an endorsement contract with Callaway Golf Sept. 7 just one week after he left Titleist.

Coming off a phenomenal season in the majors, Mickelson will start using a prototype of the Callaway HX Tour golf ball, a prototype Fusion Driver and the Big Bertha fairway metals at the Canadian Open.

He is expected to work with Callaway club designer Roger Cleveland to build his own irons, wedges and putters.

Mickelson was let out of his five-year Titleist contract some 16 months early after trying to renegotiate. He was said to be leaning toward Callaway, and the deal came together quickly.

His Callaway contract is believed to be for at least five years. Financial terms were not immediately available. Mickelson will wear the Callaway logo on his shirt sleeve, the side of his visor and his golf bag.

The deal means that for the second straight Ryder Cup, a top American player will be switching equipment the week before the matches. Woods changed from Titleist to Nike irons the week before the ’02 Ryder Cup, and he won the American Express Championship that week in Ireland.

Mickelson, who has always played the Titleist ball, will be using a prototype that has a softer cover designed for better control from within 150 yards.

“The two areas I have stressed this year have been driving the ball in play and having optimum distance control from 150 yards in,” Mickelson said in a release. “To further my progress in those areas, and to help me achieve my ultimate goal of becoming No. 1 in the world, I felt it was necessary to switch to the exciting new driver and golf ball technology from Callaway Golf.”

Phil and Callaway? As long as he doesn't use X-16s. He is way too talented (not to mention a blade devoutee) to start playing that crud. C'mon Phil, play with what you are good at playing.

You obviously don't read the other parts of threads, do you....

Get it together man. Who's gonna take you seriously if you keep over looking things as simple as that and look like a goof?
