Dumbest Golf Fad You Ever Bought In To

I once bought a SeeMore putter. Pathetic I know....that line that ensured proper clubface alignment just seemed so ingenious at the time. I believe that club is now sitting on the bottom of the Loch Raven reservoir. Gave it a nice chuck off the 8th green at Pine Ridge Golf Course. Finished the round putting with my sand wedge.

Besides the obvious answer of Pro-V1, I'd say Spin Milled Vokeys (also Titleist). They have no feel and don't provide any more spin than other wedges.

Titleist wedges are garbage. Back in the day they were charging the same for cast Vokey wedges as Cleveland was charging for it's forged 900 series wedges. Titleist sheep were still grabbing them up.

I agree. I caved in the face on my 54 degree hitting a knockdown.

LOL, Found a brush tee once and tried it for about three holes until the driver ripped the brushes right out of the tee. What a joke. I had to conclude they are made for women or men with women swing speeds.

I never could get the ball to rest in the brush... it would always wiggle its way down while I was addressing the ball...

I was thinking "are my balls too heavy? Heh, of course they are, they're MY balls!"

Clearly not a fad. If anything they are the greatest advancement in golf technology of the last 40 years.

I didn't have the problem you mentioned. But then I was putting golf balls on the brush tees. I not sure what game you were playing.

    Unitized putters.

Just kidding, don't be ridiculous. I would never fall for something that dumb.

Isn't this a reincarnation of a recent thread about gimmicks?

Well, I technically did buy "a game improvement golf shoe" but it was because I had gift certificates to spend and wanted new shoes and they were comfortable. Whenever I shoot a low tournament round and people congratulate me I say, "it wasn't me, it's mostly the shoes." Some people don't know enough about golf equipment and give me a very puzzled look others find the humor.

I remember some pimply faced juniors (alot like JS) once standing around talking about the latest equipment and they described a pair of shoes as 'pure'.

Normally I just use some clogs with nails pounded through the bottom.

I love the one guy a year that wears soccer/football/softball spikes to his first ever golf lesson. Looks like a hail storm hit after he gets done on the putting green.

I bought one of those Bionic golf gloves once. It sucked. The only plus was that swinging in slow motion while making Steve Austin sound effects did wonders for my tempo.

So you're old enough to remember that show? Humming the theme music whilst making the slow motion swing helps too.

Did you drive it into the next county using that slow motion swing?

375 yard draw (carry) bout 60 yards of roll.
I barely remember the show, I remember the action figure a lot more clearly. You could roll the skin on his arm up and take out/put in his bionics. My stretch Armstrong could kick his ass, however. (with or without the Bionics)

I pop my collar out on the golf course (and everywhere else for that matter). It doesn't keep my neck from the sun or block the wind, I just REALLY enjoy looking like a total d-bag whenever possible. Oakley sunglasses complete the ensemble.

I picked up a used F2 lob wedge from Golf Galaxy just to see if it would actually work. Absolute piece of garbage & ugly as sin to boot. Luckily I only paid $20 for it & sold it for $30 on ebay.

I can actually remember one episode where you saw Steve running in 'normal' motion. It was done at a distance and they sped up the film to make it look like Steve was running down a speeding car. I remember being really impressed at the time (Gimme a break I was only about 7 or 8 and easily impressed, hell I thougth wrestling was ctually real way back then).

I would crack up whenever Steve Austin would have handcuffs or something similar on & he would rip them off. I wonder if the producers couldn't figure out that only 1 arm was supposed to be bionic & as a result he would have torn his normal arm to shreds attempting such stuff.
