How To Extend the shaft length of a Driver

I would like to extend my driver (45") to 46" or 46.5" but could not find info on internet. Is this a DIY job for it's not worth it, just give it to a golf shop to have it done right? Thanks

You can buy shaft extenders, but if you're interested in maintaining MOI, flex, swing weight, etc., you're probably better off going to someone who knows what he's doing.

I usually have to buy extensions for every set I buy off ebay as I need all my clubs lengthened an inch to fit me. I just buy the metal shaft extenders from Golfsmith. You will need to buy a graphite extender for your driver though. They are very easy to put in. You'll need to buy new grip as well.

Somewhere there is an "Extenz" male enhancement joke in here and it’s just dying to get out.

    I've used these before:

You just need to epoxy it into place, cut to length after the epoxy sets, and slap on a new grip. The actual work is pretty easy but as the other poster noted, the feel of the club may change especially with a driver. I find that the extended length makes the shaft more flexible and feel a little whippier. Just know and expect this before you do the work. If you don't like the results, you can also remove the extender but you have to be careful not to overheat the shaft.

Thanks guys... My current driver is TEE 10.5* with Aldila NV R-flex shaft which I like it very much. Mine is 47" from top to bottom which is 2" longer than a standard length according to Touredge.com when I talked to them. I bought it off eBay so evidently whoever had it before had it extended to 47". In fact I like it so much I just bought another newer model TEE XLD of eBay but it's only 45" from top to bottom (which is 1" shorter than a standard length of the XLD according to Touredge.com). So I am going to play a couple rounds this weekend to see how it performs compared to my old TEE. If it performs as well as then I would keep it that way (I can hit 80% fairway with my TEE driver so no complaint there). If I lose distance (don't think that I can improve accuracy) then I will extend the shaft of new club to 47", knowing that it could feel more flex with longer shaft (PUMA: you stay up too many late nights watching those commercial *_* ). I will however take time and learn to use this new club first

That was too easy, so I left it alone . . . .
