Larry, golf genius or dementing old fool?

    Hi

I have read and re-read many of Larrys posts and find myself unable to decide if he is a golfing genius or dementing old fool.

Some of his comments i find myself (worryingly) in agreement with particularly the idea that the arms and upper body should remain connected throughout the swing. Then i watch the now legendary video which appears to owe more to Tai Chi than golf and the 6 handicap claim (not in the UK Larry old pal) and i find myself laughing at him. The problem for me is whilst i dont have a problem attacking pretentious pseudo knobs like Omen i fear that whilst Omen knows he is taking the piss Larry genuinely believes all of his claims.

That Larry has become a GR legend is beyond question to me, but i do not like to mock the genuinely afflicted so i have sort of stayed away from my usual aggressive and acerbic posts when it comes to him.

Come on Larry tell me are you a genius or is the Aricept and Ebixa no longer working.

    Edgey,
Why isn't this a poll? That is the only way to answer this important question.

This is not an English test Larry i post quickly because i am looking after a 2 year old.

It would be more helpful if you would address the content of the post not the spelling. Then again i will bet when you send a text (if indeed you do) they are all spelt in the queens English.

Come on Larry address the content and tell us are you a genius or sad, dementing old fool.

Sorry Kiwi, I clicked on the youtube link but the video has already been removed by Lari. It was in that 100+ post masterpiece entitled "I need a lot of help on my swing" from a week or so ago.
You've really missed out on a monumental GR occurrence. I pity you.

Lary has removed Tai Chi golf!

    To misquote Richard Nixon

Just think how much you're gonna be missing. You don't have Lary to kick around anymore.

Ah well this will probably hold my golf swing development back about 3 years but at least I can read his posts. Also I did see the you tube video with the string set up on the deck to promote the correct takeaway. That was a piece of instructional genius that has already knocked 3 strokes off my handicap.

Could you link that? I haven't seen it, but tried to set up my own string set and almost hung myself.

"tell us are you a genius or sad, dementing old fool."

You made an unprovoked ad hominem attack--even a whole thread attacking me. This is the stuff that eventually ruins every discussion forum. I will report you instead of answering in kind. If you stay, I will leave.

He can't leave before we vote on who has the better golf swing! I'm too busy with work right now to get a video! It's crunch time! I'm gonna TRY to get one this weekend...worst case hopefully next weekend! I'd hate to miss the opportunity to take 5 times until I remember how to make a poll correctly...

I remember my first few posts on here. I was shunned, harassed, ripped into, you name it. I loved it and have ever since.

Kiwi, how is your golf swing coming along? I'm sure it's a big change now that you're playing your wife's clubs.

I think you are finally getting it. You would be missed, just not for the reasons you think.

Shame is if you READ my post you would see i am one of the few on here who agrees with many of your swing thoughts.

As for your tantrum i would remind you that your comments about Nifty on the Non Golf were far more personal than any nonsense i have posted. Dont dish it if you cant take it.

    Hi Oldplayer

Since i am unsure if he has dementia the correct term remains dementing (a possible ongoing process of dementia). If i had used the word demented it removes the possibility he may not be demented.

This wasn't directed at anyone. From what I've seen he's gotten it soft. 99.99% of the time he would have been flamed, trolled, beaten into obscurity within the first day of posting his videos. I like Lary, I just wish his posts were about half as long and said twice as much. My attention span just isn't there for some of his posts. Maybe it's the prose?

The funny part is that I thought being demented was a prerequisite to staying here at GR, while genius definitely is not.

Yeah I couldn't read them right through either. Too long winded.

I don't think we went that soft on him. Some of the usual suspects ripped into his posts pretty early on but he seemed unbelievably thick skinned and/or persistent. He seemed to ignore all the flames and just carry on posting in his own inimitable style regardless which made me think that pedaling the 'Pivot for Power' must be his motive.

Now in hindsight I think he was just an over enthusiastic beginner keen to share his exciting new learning experience with others. Then again he claimed to be a 6 on tough courses ...?
I chose the road less traveled.

Kiwi, i have read his posts and they have began to rub me up the wrong way. If you take the time you will note that his posts contain a certain "tone" which whilst initially amusing have begun to nark me. I will throw out a number of words and see if they fit

Paternalistic, directive, arrogant, intellectualy superior, preaching, apodictic, bullying, dismissive, condescending.

Like you i have noticed that he either didnt understand the sarcasm in many of the replys to his posts or simply didnt care. That he got so upset at my post is interesting. Perhaps i have hit a nerve, frankly i couldnt care less. I detest arrogant, self obsessed know it alls with no sense of humour.

Any way after the way he slated Nifty for his liberal views in the Non-Golf section and nearly drove him away i consider him fair game.

I suspect his threat that either i go or he does is part of his bully boy personality and when it doesnt work he will continue posting, and if he does leave someone else will come along, they always do.

This is the great thing about GR. It broadens the mind. Today for example I have learned a new word, apodictic, and a new condition, asperger syndrome neither of which I had ever heard of before.

This thread has been a resounding success.
Don't particularly want to pick on Larry, but I stopped reading his over complicated posts some time ago.
I just didn't have the interest to concentrate hard enough.
Golf is supposed to be a simple game isn't it?
Aren't you just supposed to hit the ball in the hole?

You guys remind me of teenage boys-- This sort of banter is typical of childish texting. 15 second attention span.... a clique with a mean edge...

But this is a golf discussion forum. We see the total airheads picking up the balls on the range--not taking lessons, playing the course, or discussing the golf swing on the range.

You will soon be alone here-- as serious golfers read the mail and then bail out for serious golf discussion.

There are many places to go for "serious golf discussion". I'll say it again "The golfing machine" which is sometimes referred to on forums as TGM. Do a search for it with forum. What you call serious is very sophomoric compared to their discussions.

I see this more as 19th hole discussion more than range talk. It is what it is.

If you want serious golf talk go to golfers empire.

THIS is not a serious golf board. I don't know who told you it was, but they lied.

First things first, i am still here so i am unsure as to why you have not carried out your childish bully boy threat to leave. Perhaps your reporting of me to whatever authority you think exists on GR didnt have the impact you had hoped for.

As usual your post contains the same air of pseudo superiority, patronising, arrogant, supercilious, know it all tones that you have inflicted on GR since you arrived.

Shottalk and GolfWRX both have very serious golfing discussion forums where i am sure your pompous preaching and neo conservative political views will be appreciated. GR forums is the arse end of golf chat.

Edgey my only problem with your post is calling GR 'the arse end of golf chat'? That sounds kind of negative to me?

I'm assuming what you really mean is 'GR is the kick arse forum of golf chat'.

Did I ever mention to anyone here that Ping Eye 2 irons are the best ever? The other day I was hitting a 7 iron at the range and I had a group of 10 people watching. One guy almost swallowed his corn dog as I hit the 175 marker 4 times in a row.

The good part about playing Ping eye 2 is that you'll forever have a cheap supply of them on ebay and being cast POS the grooves never wear out. The only used club I see more on ebay is the nike slingshot. Come to think of both of those clubs are UGLY. I would have to take medication to keep the contents of my stomach down if I had to bag those POS's. I might even consider the Nike over the Ping eye 2's. That right there says a lot.

So FD are your pings the copper or standard cast POS?

There's no such thing as the 'best ever' irons.

The only people who say that are 26-handicappers, who don't know nuts about golf.

With a 7 iron? That's easy! Larryrsf knocks down the pin with a 3 iron during his range sessions and draws a crowd of at least 15-20 people.

This is me hitting an old Haig Ultra Forged Blade 2i with steel shaft. That club was made in the 50s. It is FAR more difficult to hit well than any Mizuno.

Haven't looked at this forum in a couple of weeks. I saw 76 posts in a thread about me, I love it-- but haven't bothered to read any of them. Same-old, same old, you guys need to develop a new act.

Reminds me of the time there were simultaneously 10 threads about me in a different forum! Sorry to use a big word here, "simultaneously" means all at the same time.

We've seen that before Larry. That's the 2 i you were hitting off a 'tight lie' (mat) wasn't it?
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

I admit to reading through Lirry's posts kind of fast, but did anyone else read this to say:

"This is me hitting an old F.ag with a forged 2i"

You have a god awful swing. I keep fooling myself thinking you'll learn to fire your hips before impact, but then I see the result and like a car crash, I can't look away.

That and his back foot stays on the ground too long. That spin-out move is always worthy of a chuckle.

Haven't looked at this forum in a couple of weeks. I saw 76 posts in a thread about me, I love it-- but haven't bothered to read any of them. Same-old, same old, you guys need to develop a new act.

    Lies. You don't know ****.

    Realize how it was edited.

Your swing mechanics still suck. Sorry to use such a big word here, "suck" means "worse than my grandmother".

Larry you're my hero, I want to one day be as great as you at destroying the worlds golf swings by catching people new to the sport and spouting crap untill they too can shoot 90 like you, give us a break Larry you talk the talk but cant walk the walk.

If youre going to try and teach people to play the main requirement is that you yourself are not pi.sh in the first place, now Larry is it not true that you yourself are quite p.ish.

You have a strange definition of "nutcase" Liarry

Stick to golf rewound where your pompous lies, bullying and arrogance are tolerated. The "nutcases" on GR have exposed you as a cheating, lying, fraud, hence why you call us "nutcases"

Lahhhry, this really hurts. Even nutcases have feelings. Yes, I've had something of a p.ussy drought but I'm fighting my way out of it admirably and I'm not suicidal.

A p.ussy drought is awful, for sure, but you have to put it in perspective. At least I'm not completely full of sh.it to such an extent that everyone expects laughable b.s. everytime I open my mouth. That realization is what I've fallen back on to help me through these tough times. So I hope it's actually true.

And if the hitting a f.ag with a 2 iron comment was offensive to you I apologize. I should have been more sensitive towards your feelings, as well. Just to make it clear, I'd never hit an old f.ag with a 2 iron and I wasn't suggesting you hit yourself with a 2 iron, either.

Although a 5 iron might be a different story.

Interesting admission Loz, care to expand a little. Has the fanny drought pushed you towards sodomising an old man?

Why just yesterday you promised you'd be supportive of me during my time of trouble and refrain from depositing your boot into my backside when my hip is touching the ground.

In western society, changing one's quoted statement to make it look like that person is a homosexual would seem to me to be in contravention of this.

Sorry Loz, Camp Freddy is around my house at the moment and he is screwing around.

I would never put the boot into an Italian stallion when he is facing the largest crisis any lothario can, punani drought.

Ah, I see this has generated 100 posts.

Larry is many things. A golf genius is not one of them. Except possibly in his head. He is however, currently cleaning egg off his face. hehe
