    Latest polling trends

It seems like our great, noble, and highly esteemed commander in chief is having a bit of a problem with public opinion, and very early into his term. It has only taken him 6 months to convert his charisma and public adulation into negative territory, after he ran as a left of center pragmatic moderate, then veered sharply to the left after getting into office. It doesn't work on the right, and it doesn't work on the left. The votes are in the middle, not at the fringes.

For him to squander his popularity so early into his term is surprising. I thought he was going to run his administration as a centrist, though certainly to the left of center. Fine with me. However, since he rammed the poorly thought out "economic stimulus" package through Congress without many even knowing the content of the bill, he thought he could do the same with health care "reform." This time, people are starting to read the fine print, and aren't too happy when they find that reality doesn't match his glib rhetoric. The public overall now sees him as quite liberal, and more liberal than they are. The far left complains that he isn't liberal enough, but they are as far out of touch with the public at large as is the far right.

When he AND Congress see his numbers tanking so rapidly, you can see why Pelosi and Obama were trying to desperately to ram the health care bill through Congress before people had a chance to analyze it or understand its implications. Too late for that now.

The media's love affair with Obama seems to be cooling off a bit. That has likely swayed many of the sheeple that are unable to think for themselves and look to the MSM to tell them who/what they should support. There are still plenty of people in the mainstream media that have tingling feelings running up their legs. However, I have seen a few of them actually question Obama's decision making and policies recently. I saw Meredith Viera ask him some pretty tough questions on The Today Show last week. It was a sharp contrast to the pre-approved softball questions he received all through the campaign and beyond. Let's hope the media will start doing their job and put Obama under the same scrutiny that W was put under.

That will never happen. But if they simply cease bowing prostrate and drooling in his presence, it would be an improvement. Or they could start asking him some really tough questions, like "Why did you choose a Portuguese Water Dog?" Or how about, "How are your children adapting to life in Washington, D.C.?" Or a really tough one: "What is Michelle Obama's vision of what she would like to accomplish for the benefit of the country, now that she is First Lady?"
