Can someone identify this Mizuno iron?
Saw this Mizuno iron set on the NZ online auction website. I asked the seller if there is any model number on the clubs, the guy said the only writing is on back of blade "Mizuno Tour Proven". I guess it is not TP-9?
BTW. I played the other day with the MP-32 that I "accidentally" acquired recently. As mentioned by some of you, MP-32 is great for consistent distance control. I played the par 3s with an average of 3 (1 birdie, 2 par, 1 bogey) that day, when my average for par 3 in the previous 5 rounds was 4.1. The MP-32 is also very precise for the approach shots into par 4 and par 5s. So far I am really impressed and happy with my purchase.
And after I sold all the unwanted clubs/bag from the set that I bought. My net cost for this reasonably used MP-32 is NZD150. One more reason to celebrate!

Mizuno irons -- made by Hattori Hanzo, forged in the fires of Mt. Fujiyama.

Certainly is almost identical to an mp14, which I have.. I don't know what came before the 14, but that muscle pattern is definitely 14-ish.
Cleveland long clubs
Adams Idea Pro irons
Vokey and Cleveland wedges

Admit it Exodus_John, it's the fake pink grips that caught your eye isn't it?
I chose the road less traveled.

Nah. I am just been curious. Wanted to learn about all models of Mizuno irons, and in the process might be able to pick up a few bargains. .
So Kiwi Player.. what is your trademe ID? Now that you know mine?
That's just downright criminal. What was the guy thinking putting those things on a set of Mizzie blades?
I chose the road less traveled.

with the pink grips, the seller must have been masturbating with these irons.

The design and shape of the muscle is virtually identical to the mp14's and 29's. Both those models have the model number and Mizuno written is handwritting like cursive, where these have tour proven written. My best guess is that they were made at the same time, circa 93 or 94 but were a Japan only model. Quite possibly made for the Japanese tour. This is not unusual for Mizuno. The TP series usually had the model number engraved on the hosel.

back to topic i agree with OP, they could either be TP originals, or a Prototype set that companys only give to Pro's or employees, this was common practice in through the 90's with Wilson for sure(so i would reckon accross all companies) so i would imagine that they have come to be through these lines either way they will be worth perhaps 25%-50% premium over other good condition TP's
