    Witb 2010

    Hi

Thought i would start it this year.

I have purchased the following which will defo be making the bag this year:-

A Nike SQ Sasquatch 5900 Driver in 16 degree with a Stiff shaft (cut to 43"). The Thriver(tm) is back in the bag!!

I have finally managed to get a nice Odyssey Tri Hot #3 34". The grip is shite but i will be replacing it. ALWAYS wanted one but never found one in nice nick. Hopefully this is it.

Irons replaced about a month ago with the legendry Fusion FT Wide Sole. Obviously not exactly GR approved but hey, thats me.

As always the LOVETT WEDGE remains a constant

Currently off 9 (UK) maybe off 8 by the end of this year (if it ever stops snowing)

Edgey I am convinced there is no hope for you.
At least your WITB has some entertainment value. In fact I think this thread of yours is a blatant attempt to start a flame war.

Interesting bag! Looks eerily similar to what my 2010 summer bag will be.....except I do not plan on the Epon driver nor the TEE fairway wood.

We are also a Scratch dealer...and know many of our peers...but not many also carry the Epon brand...where do you shop?

I got the Epon driver from Chris at Tourspecgolf. I had previously bought Epon irons and a different Epon driver from him, and he has always steered me correctly, though it's somewhat of a gamble without the chance to demo. You have to trust the integrity of a LOT of people on that board to plunk down money without a demo, particularly for high end stuff.
I've gotten the Scratch stuff directly from Ari in the past, but the most recent wedge order was through the director of custom sales. Being familar with the clubs, I had ordered a new wedge with custom specs, but he contacted me and suggested I do a similar but slightly different sole grind, based on what I was trying to achieve. I took his advice.

Lost a bag of clubs when taking a ferry to Bintan. In it was the Ben Hogan Big Ben C-S3, Cobra S9-1 Pro Fairway 15°, 18°, Mizuno MP-68, 2 Gold's Factory Prototype Wedges, a PRIDE Pro Wedge, a Jules Gauge putter, and 12 Titleist ProV1x's.

Had to purchase a whole new bag, along with 2 new GF's wedges. Lucky thing I still have the 67s, and the S9-1s. I quite like the Scotty Cameron I play now, and DAMN YOU GUYS SHOULD START PLAYING HYBRIDS. Just soooooooo easy to hit !

No changes, just as per my sig but I'm always looking. I haven't really considered a new driver in years. Happy with the old 2004 Launcher but I must admit the new Cleveland DST has got me curious.

Also depends what forged players bargains I spot on E-Bay. I'm loving the MP-30/33's for now but they are quite an old beat up set and a bargain set of shiny new irons could tempt me.
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

If this were true I could just do what alot of deluded fantasy members do, just post my pretend set in the witb section filled with blades (2-pw) in x stiff, scotty putter etc. No need to mention names as we all know who we are, don't we Mizuno>Ping.

In any case, if I ever have any doubts about my manhood, I can just read edgey's sig and no I still have a long way to go.

After a year plus being a time waster, I begin to see WiTB as a marketing tool used by manufacturers to induce people into buying new clubs. I will stick to what I am playing till they are worn out. Bear in mind, no hybrids - no GI irons. If you do bag them, WiTB applies to you. Cheers

Yep, nice of you to notice. Unlike most posters though, I'm honest. I have an Aldila NV Proto "By You" in stiff flex shaft in that Lucky 13 and I hit it low and clean. If you'll read some of the posts Dorkman and I have made in this thread and others around the forum, you'll learn that the shaft is more important whenever it comes to ball flight than the degrees of the head.

I would have expected you to know that, FD. Shame for shame . . . . .

I may be a piece of ocker shite, but a lyer I have never been. I have always posted my real bag, and have maintained a level of honesty when reporting facts (my opinions may flip flop but I always report the facts accurately). I can honestly say that I have always 'bagged' hybrids, in the colloquial term bagged as in criticised heavily. But you will never see one in my bag of golf clubs.

Now stfu you stiff upper lip, pie eating, old decrepid sack of english crap (assuming you are this after seeing your rugby team).

Not putting your clubs in your sig is not only a serious biatchmove it is also indicative of someone with a guilty secret. I think you protest far to much NAH.

Gentlemen it is my contention that NAH is a hypocrite (we all know that from his GFF bollocks whilst bagging a load of GI shite) who is frightened to name his clubs as he is bagging hybrids, and probably has for years.

As an Ocker your history is that of criminality and scullduggery and I doubt you could lie straight in bed.

I may be a pie eating sack of English shite but at least i have the guts to name my clubs loud and proud unlike you.

I've heard this before. I played a set of their irons for years, think they were something like CB2's but I could be mistaken. Loved them. Then I bought a Gemini driver from a dealer and had nothing but problems. The shaft kept fraying at the hosel (and we're talking about decent shafts). The clubmaker replaced it once, but when it happened again he spotted a little defect in the neck of the head. The guy had the hardest time getting KZG to replace it, and when I finally got the club back, the face cracked. He couldn't get KZG to replace it again and offered me store credit. When I called KZG, some CSR wouldn't even speak to me since I wasn't an authorized dealer.

Not according to our resident expert Mr. LarryRSF. You really need to try the wippy tempo master. There is absolutely no load on a shaft and it doesn't make a bit of difference. What a n00b.

You certainly do, I'll give you pommys that (I've seen your darts players). It may interest you that I am a first generation Aussie, as one of my parents is English and the other Greek, so the inherent criminality does not apply to me. But on the subject of me being a hypocrite, my regular dissing of you and Zo's cultural heritage probably does make me a hypocrite.

P.S. I know Zo is Italian, but in Oz we are all just wogs.

I agree. Although I wouldn't have exactly that bag, it's a nice bag none the less and I could see some god golf with that equipment.

Unless there is sme story behind it, that's one of the lamer user names I've seen though.

The story is i have just changed from a flogged out set of Srixon i 302 and for some reason i cant seem to hit a 4 iron 3 yeah not 4 totally supid i know. So thats why the 21 deg is there and the 18 is there as 5 wood. Then i get to carry an extra wedge.

Updated bag. It may differ from my signature because I just got this stuff yesterday.

    Driver- R9 TP- Aldila Voodoo
R9 TP 3 and 5 wood- Aldila Voodoo
    3-PW Mizuno Mp-68- Project X
    Titleist Tour Chrome SM. 52, 56, 60.- Projext X
    Scotty Cameron Squareback No.1
Taylormade TP Red and Penta TP.

I think the only differences are the driver head size and the balls and shafts, and the wedges
    In the bag;
(Wedges could change to Titleist Spin Milled fairly soon)

Woods; Taylormade R9 460 TP driver and woods. (Motore F1 X-Stiff shafts)
    Blades; Mizuno Mp-68 irons(DG S300)
Wedges; Mizuno MP T10 White Satin wedges
    Putter; Scotty Cameron Squareback No.1
Ball; Taylormade Penta TP, Titleist Pro V1x(Ball selection differs depending on how I feel. Haha.)

I am thinking, a new years resolution shall be work with what I have. Only the drivers are in flux. I will be juggling two nickents, one with 6 different shafts, and 2 cobras till I find the sweetspot. I will crack the 300 hundred yard barrier. I have a 22 degree tm tp dual rescue that may go back in the bag, and a mizuno mpr 60 degree wedge, both great clubs. So the 19 deg and the mp fli hi 3 iron may go. My 3 wood is the easiest to hit of any, and distance is easy to control. I always missed the mx 23s, after years of playing mp 60s, there staying in the bag. Only the mp 37s can shake them out. I am tossing the idea of a stand bag with 10 clubs for walking at a older 9 hole Pete Dye masterpiece, Maxinkukee, and the Culver military academys 9 holes of torture, not a par 4 under 400 yards and almost mountainous terrain, built at the turn of the last century. Some very sadistic people designed these 2 courses.

One thing I've noticed reading this thread is that my bag setup is very trademanlike compared to some of the expensive and exotic combinations displayed. The only really upmarket, expensive name brand in the bag is the putter. The rest are good solid performers but not likely to be seen in the bags of pros, or posers with more money than sense. My clubs may not have the tour apeal of other clubs, but the irons and putter are all made in the USA, none of that cheap chinese sweat shop crap like Titleist in my bag.

For the record my bag is:

Driver: Powerbuilt Citation FZ1 (tour model with square face) 10.5, GD Pershing 75 Stiff
FWs: Tour Edge J-Max Bazooka Quick Launch 15, stock grafalloy shaft stiff, Cobra baffler 20 steel shaft.
Irons: Powerbilt TPS 6.0, 4-PW stock DG firm flex.
Wedges: Macgregor Tourney forged 52, 60. Adams GT Tom Watson 56.
Putter: Ben Hogan by Bettinardi BHB12 HK
Balls: Currently finishing off some Strata TL Tours I got last year, but when they run out I've been collecting some Srixon Z-Stars and will game them.

I can't even imagine replacing my Epon driver. It's as long as anything I've ever hit, but the control and forgiveness vs. anything else is just head and shoulders better. The EMB has a super-forgiving design, I was able to order it with a square face. The Axiv-X shaft is a perfect match for my swing. It kicks like crazy, but is very controllable. Chris guided me through the shaft selection process, based on my honest input about my swing, and which shafts worked and didn't work in the past, and why.
    Seldom right, never in doubt......

With that setup don't you find a bit of gap between the 21* hybrid and your 5 iron? I used to have a very similar setup with the Taylormade R7 TP's but my hybrids were 19 & 22*. A couple of the courses I play regularly have long(ish) par 3's where 4 iron is the ideal club and I really missed having it. I'd either try to smoke a 5 iron or throttle back on the 22* neither of which was very effective. I eventually dropped the 60* and added a 58* to replace the 56 & 60 but recently I've just gone back to the 52 & 56* combo. The 56* covers 99% of the shots I need to play out of the bunker or around the green.

How are you finding the KBS shafts? My R7's had the DG S300 which I liked a lot.

Just an amendment to the bag as per my sig. I have wanted to build a 905r for some time now as the head has one of the best reputations going among better players. It first came out in 2006 I think and was Titleist's first 460cc head. Many good players, even pros still bag one and say that in their opinion it is still the best driver Titleist has made. I wanted to find out for myself. I found a 9.5 degree head in pristine condition and had it shafted with an aftermarket Voodoo SVS6. I have played two rounds with it so far and must say I am very impressed. It is a real bomber and pretty staight. However it is extemely workable high or low, draw or fade it does the lot with a minimum of effort. It sits beautifully with a square face and is one of the best looking 460 heads I have seen at address.

All the par 3's at home are from 140 to 160. So thats not really a problem but you are right there is definatly a gap between those two clubs. After todays effort i have decided to drop the 21 and the 52 and put the 3 and 4 iron back in. also i absolutly dig the kbs shafts i was playing Rifle 6.0 in the old Srixon i 302 they had a really high launch im enjoying a lower ball flight

I loved my R and it's presently my back-up. Was going to put it back in the bag last year until I started playing the D3. But I could be happy going back to the R.

I've never hit any of the recent Titty drivers, but the ones I've owned previously, 975 JS and 983e, were quality clubs and probably the purest feeling drivers I've ever hit. They had that undeniably crushed it feel that I haven't found with other clubs. My current driver is more consistent than they were, but I must admit that my best shots with the Titleists were better feeling than with my current dirver. I've seen some Rs getting around pretty cheap, and I must admit I've been tenpted to look into it. But I'm in a hlding pattern for the time being so it will have to wait til I have a prolonged slump with the driver.

Currently off 9 (UK) maybe off 8 by the end of this year (if it ever stops snowing)

the Lovett does make a nice snow wedge, though... remember to 'splash' the ball out of the snow using the bottom, the bounce portion, of the wedge... :-))

Titleist drivers are often fussier than others about being hit in the center of the clubface, but I haven't been able to find the same feel and workability in other drivers. And if I'm not hitting the center, I want to know because there's then a swing issue going on that requires attention. The 907 series kind of sucked, but both the R and D3 are great heads.

Looks as though you could get an R on E-Bay here for under $100. That's a great deal if you could find one with a real shaft.

Dallas was mid teens for three nights running, never above freezing during five days..

the ice in my birdbath lasted three MORE days, even through daytime highs in the 50s... it was in the shade..

there are brown dead footprints all over everyones lawn... proof that you shouldn't walk on greens when it's below freezing!

Agree the 907 series sucked. I tried 2 different models and was not at all impressed. I am led to believe the r is more forgiving than the s or the t but i definately agree you know it when you get one in the middle, awesome feel, flight and distance.
As you say they are still around on ebay but they seem to still command a good price for a 5 year old driver. The stock shafts were not too bad on them with probably the pick being the V2. In Australia they sell for around $150, but condition can vary. In the States i have seen them priced at around that also if in good condition. It shows they are still sought after when you can get a 2 year old OEM model for under $100.

Borderline POS chopper club, but the 13 degrees and shaft just save it. Although that also makes it a poser club that our little runt friend wouldn't have the game to handle.

Omen, you have a nice bag, except it's screaming: I can't hit my driver. That 13 deg. Cally X 3 wood is basically a driver for those who have trouble hitting the real thing. And the 907 D1 is a Titleist in name only.

God would never, ever carry those clubs. Lorenzo wouldn't carry them either. God and Lorenzo can hit a driver.

I dont think I will making any drastic equipment changes. The late 2009/early 2010 additions have been a Cleveland CG 12 58 degree wedge and a Ping Asner putter. I am content with my irons between the Mizunos MP 29s and Titleist 690 CBs. I also like the Titleist D1 driver and still have my back up Callaway FT 5. I might vary up what balls I use though.

I note you list Z Star and Cally tour i as your balls. I play the Z Star and find it heaps better than the tour i, more bite and way longer. Have you found the tour i to be alot shorter than the Z Star? I honestly think the Z Star is a better ball for me than either of the ProV's. The only ball out there that I would consider giving a go now is the new TM Penta. They have generated alot of buzz, and I think they will replace the ProV as the top ball for the better player. But apart form them, I'm going with the Srixons.

The Z star has been used much more regularily since the last half 2009. I found the Callaway Tour Is to be better than the ProV1/ixs and some of the TM balls. I still have two dozen Tour Is left from last year so I use those in my rotation until they are unplayable. I prefer the Z star much better though. I found them to be a little longer ont hte Tour Is, but they bite much better. Both are relatively durable for the kind of ball that they are. I might try the Penta just to see what the hype is all about. I really need to try some Bridgestones since a few people who like Srixon also suggests them.

I've tried the Bridgestone RX Tours, and would be happy to game them at a pinch, but I think the Z Star shades it. I get a better ball flight with the Z Star and a little bit more distance. I also get a bit more bite with the Z Star and it feels beter around the greends IMO. I'll try the Penta if my pro shop gets some in (I don't buy bals retail, I just use my vouchers and the balls I win in the ball comp), but it will have to be a good ball to knock the Z Star out of the bag.

Sad to say, I haven't played enough to bother to experiment with any of my sticks. Bag's the same. Looking at reshafting that Adams XTD pro driver, as is with the S flex I can't hit it straight.. but I do love the feel of the impact...

meanwhile I"m stuck on Cleveland long clubs and Adams paddles and some illegal wedges that will not be changed until I wear them out.. or die...

    A couple of changes

Ping G1 5 5 iron replaced by Ping I15 5 iron - it feels better off the face and is not that much more difficult to hit.

Adams fairway woods replaced with Ping G15 3 and 5 woods. These give a more penetrating flight despite having 1/2 degree more loft

Hogan wedges replaced by Ping Tour W 47, 52 and 58 - the hogans were getting pretty worn and I like the look and feel of the Ping wedges. Granted - they don't spin as much as some wedges I have tried but I have never been much of a spinner of the ball.

Bridgestone B330 RX replaced by Bridgestone B330 RXS - it feels softer off the putter and round the greens.

Is it just me or is this guy annoying as feck?

I'm thinking he habitually has Pat Benatar's "We Belong" going in his head.
