When is the best time to get new irons?
Long time reader, first time poster. Played pretty well all year with 8 year old Titleist irons off of ebay, but I have a hankerin' to get new irons. Been looking at I3+'s and G2's. Regardless of what I get, when do you think the best time to switch equipment? When handicap is going down (as mine is) or when nothing is happening?

I'd say get new irons when someone steals the ones you have now. Actually, I think your question is going to get all different responses. When I have switched clubs I have had the following experience... I do very well and think they are a miracle then suddenly suck and want to take them back and then level off to a point where I'm satisfied with my purchase. I think other people have similar experiences. But, personally, I don't think it matters when you do it (just my opinion). Your handicap may spike up or even drop after you get them...it depends on how fast you get used to them. I think it's kind of something you can't really predict too well. Anyway, just my opinion.
