Tiger's comeback will be at Augusta

Looks like Tiger's return will be at the Masters. I don't know how to attach an active URL so I hope the one below works. If not, just copy and paste.

Makes sense. TMZ can't get through the gates at Augusta.
What will happen to Tiger if he doesn't play in the minimum amount of tourneys? I know he's exempt from winning last year, so I would assume that wouldn't mess with his playing priveleges for next year, but would there be any other impact?
What about Ryder Cup points? If he doesn't qualify for the team, should Pavin pick him?

Smart move. Thank goodness Tiger is starting to get his priorities straight. Its all about the Major Tournaments...that is all Tiger has ever cared about, and he knows it is all anyone else really cares about.

If Tiger starts winning again, everything else will fall into place for him.

This years Masters is gonna get killer ratings, and anyone that tries to go after Tiger will be thrown out.

Any tournament that wants to make money is going to want Tiger. Tiger will probably invent some laundry list of tournament prep...beefed security, media control, etc....anyone who wants Tiger is gonna have to kiss his a$$ and make sure the media/fans are Tiger friendly.

People are unpredictable. People are also hungry for attention. I could see some golf beat writer breaking ranks and asking Tiger a pointed question about skanks. Sure, he'd never get a Tiger interview, but he'd get some attention and maybe some respect from other players or media members.

Seems unlikely. His press tent will probably be invite only. If someone breaks rank, he will get this response: "I prefer to keep my private matters private... ok next question." Rank breaker loses job and gets no answers.

I think if it's done loud enough, the rank breaker will get his attention. Even a non-answer is answer enough to get posted all over Sportscenter.

VT...We got f'cked. We had a better conference record than Wake, Clemson, GT and were 3 -0 against them. We had a weak non-conference, but were still the first team to go 10-6 in the ACC and not make the tournament...Two years ago, we were the first 9-7 team not to make the tournament.

Yeah, VT was on almost everyone's last 4 in or first 4 out lists yesterday.
Sounds like your team will be carrying a huge chip on their shoulder in the NIT. What's worse; losing in the first round of the NCAA's or winning the NIT?
My team will not be participating in either tourney.

    Akron?

I can't compare VT to teams in other conferences, but I know we have a better team than Clemson, Wake, and GT.

I have a feeling we could lose our NIT opener...The let down factor of being snubbed 3 years in a row is huge. Especially this year.

We were a lock for the sweet 16 this year...oh well...as long as Delaney doesn't go pro, we will have everyone returning next year.

Big Ben's former school. The mighty Redhawks of Miami University. Of course they were the Redskins when I attended and we made the NCAA twice and beat Zona. Then in '99 Wally World took them to the Sweet 16. I don't think we've been back since.

never heard of a lifetime exemption on tour. AFAIK each tourney is in charge of its own exemptions.

I might be wrong of course. But every time I hear 'exemption' it's in a tourney, not on tour in general.

I think Tiger should be exempt for the rest of his life. No one else has mounted or amounted so many chicks and majors at such a young age.

You must be a huge Big Ben fan. He put your football program on the map. Kind of like Vick did for Tech. I remember Miami-OH was on tv like every Wed and Thurs night during Ben's last 2 years.

I am not usually one to watch smaller conferences, but I even watched his bowl game vs. Navy (or some service academy). It was during the height of the Iraq war, I remember Big Ben and his teammates doing some kind of celebration where they pretended to all get blown up. My first glimpse into Big Ben's decision making skills.

I know Miami played Louisville in one of Ben's bowl games. I'm thinking that was in 2003. Yeah, the MAC always played Thursday nationally televised games back then. Seems to be a lot more Thursday games nowadays.

    Stop dodging the question.

Were you/ are you a Big Ben fan? and have you ever owned a Miami OH shirt/jersey with the number 7?

I have a question. If Miami is in Florida why is there a Miami University in Ohio? If there's a Miami in Ohio, then why the parentheses? I can see why you don't like to talk about your schooling.

I majored in hide the salami at the University of Balogna (commence jokes).

The parentheses are not part of the school name, they are added by other folks so people know which school is being talked about. Plus Univ. of Miami is in FL, Miami U. is in Ohio.
Another few facts that are taught to MU students to assist with our obvious inferiority complex.
Miami U. was a college before Florida was a state. 1809 vs. whenever Florida became a state.
Miami U. is named after the Miami indian tribe who lived around the Ohio Valley near Oxford.
Miami Florida is where the original indian reservation for the Miami tribe was located.
The reservation is now in Oklahoma.
Miami U. is consistently ranked as a top school for hot chicks in magazines like Playboy and Maxim.

I sensed the inferiority complex from the parentheses. That must have sucked for those Indians, having to move north like that. At least now they're in Oklahoma and will never be wanting for porn.

Really, the school gets the babe accolades? It kind of makes sense, there's probably alot of hot chicks that thought they were signing up for a school in Florida. "Oh my God! It's like so cold here! And like, noboby knows where South Beach is!"

It's to make up for the fact that the Chokies can lose 6 straight games in football and still be ranked in the top 10.

I think there is a one year exemption for being top 20 all time money earners, but never heard of a lifetime exemption.

20 PGA Tour wins and you're a lifetime exempt member. DL3's the newest member of that club when he won at Disney a couple years ago.

That is the most absurd rule I've ever heard. Are you sure it doesn't give you a limited exemption, like 3 years or so? It's ridiculous enough that old broken down choppers like Nicklaus can take spots in the Masters, but I can't believe that washed up bums can get a lifetime exemption to an entire tour based upon what they achieved 50 years ago.

According to Andy Pazder, the Tour's senior vice president of tournament administration, the lifetime tournament exemption is effective only as long as the player maintains a proper scoring average (three strokes above the field average for the tournaments he plays) and competes in at least one PGA Tour event each calendar year.

Pazder said the scoring average requirement is what caused Lanny Wadkins and Hale Irwin to be moved out of the "Life Member" category and into the past champions category.

A player can regain lifetime membership if he meets the scoring requirement in a subsequent year.

Reasons like this keep the Hale Irwin hacks out of the big boy tour events.

Edit for more explanation: People like DL3 are just given an exemption of sorts into said event. However others with priority are given first right of refusal into the event based on top 125 on the money list. If no one takes them up, then lifetime exempt, then past champions, then sponsor exempts. I believe that's the pecking order of sorts.

That's a bit more like it. So you only have to put up with washed up bums stinking up the course for one season, then they get punted to the colostomy bag tour. BTW, you do realise that Irwin win's ALL the money don't you?

I was actually making a reference to a LarryRSF recurring comment on GR. I'm pretty sure everybody else here knows he's a chopper.

Kiwi, that's BS. He could easily get his arms that big naturally. The guy works out all the time. Roids make you look different than that. His cheeks would look all puffy and his head would swell. Do you think Camillo takes roids? I've got huge biceps and I don't take roids.

We thought he was working out and practicing golf all the time. Turns out he was maintaining 14 mistresses, banging them, wrangling up new ones, etc. Seems like that would be time consuming. Steroids are in play.

It's not that time consuming if he did it over a 3 year period. Plus, if you know you're going to be naked in front of a bunch of different babes that's all the more incentive to work out like crazy. If Rush Limbaugh had a bunch of mistresses I guarantee you he wouldn't be a fat blob.

I hope that Tiger has already privately notified Arnold Palmer that he will not play Bay Hill and has apologised to him. If it weren't for Nicklaus and Palmer before him, Tiger propbably would have gone to a junior college in OC and have been an assistant pro at some upscale public track in Buena Park or Newport. The "Tiger" and "Eldrick" would have morphed to "Rick". Oh, he would still be very good but there would be no Nike endorsements--hell, Nike would probably still be a shoe company. The real reason is that Augusta National, unlike any other venue short of Congressional, is real securable and the gallery will put up with full body scanners, full pat-downs, and body cavity searches by moonlighting Department of Homeland Security personnel. I bet some short hitting greasy hobbit with a bag full of hybrids wins it.

I've read that he did contact Arnie and aplogize. Either that or he did it via the press.

He personally called him, verified by Mr. Palmer himself on The Golf Channel this afternoon.

Like that really matters. The guy could have helped Arnie out a little. It's always about Tiger. Do you really think he'll be competitive at the Masters, not having played in competition for so long? He knows that. This is about his re-emerging in the safest place possible with Jime Nancy's voice in the background.

That may have been an old file photo in that article Kiwi. I was watching the TV this morning, and they showed a pic of Tiger back with Elin. It may have been the camera angle or the shirt he was wearing, but I could have sworn his arms looked noticably punier than usual. If his arms are smaller, that would be damning evidence that he has been a past user.

Absolutely there is no doubt about it. It's no wonder he was juiced up on roids and it's so obvious. No way he could get in the gym very often when he was off banging all those skanks every second of his spare time.

How much time could he possibly have when he was banging skanks every spare moment of the day? That type of workout might be good for core strength but no way is he building big biceps banging stray chicks everyday.

In his press conferecne he was wearing a jacket. It will be interesting to see if he actually is smaller when he tees off at the Masters.

The shoulders and back get plenty of work, but at some point they get overdeveloped and that works against a good golf swing. It presents a dilemma.

See there you go. No wonder he didn't win a Major last year and couldn't even make the cut in an event almost won by a 59 year old.

Watson clearly wasn't getting any p.ussy. That had to have helped.

IMO it's clear to all that the Master environment is the safest spot for him to return, in terms of security, controlling media... It's good for him to flush it out of his system, but personally I think it's tough for him to play the Masters without playing Arnold Invitation first... Wishing him best of luck even though I am not a bid fan of Tiger

I wonder if they will actually show real footage of Tiger, or just show different file footage of him swinging then see the ball land on the green? A giveaway will be different coloured shirts on the same hole.

Tiger ALWAYS wears a "red" golf T-shirt on Sunday (superstition, I think). I wonder if he would do the same if he plays on Sunday at the Masters

Some friends and I were thinking about going this year. Not now. Not only will aftermarket ticket prices get ridiculous, but too much focus on one man at the Masters cheapens it, particularly given the circumstances. Don't ever go there if you're not totally into it, otherwise you'll never be able to eat those sandwiches for four days.

Haven't googled it yet, but did I hear a rumor a Tiger like character is about to debut on South Park? How awesome would that be?!!!

NAH, if he hasn't been going to the gym it would result in his arms being smaller. What does that have to do with roids. I go to the gym 3 times a week and I've been doing it for about 4 years now. I had surgery a year ago and laid off the gym for 2 months. My arms got smaller....of course.
