It's only a matter of time

I'm really impressed with Rickie Fowler's game. He is clearly headed for a great PGA career. Even if he doesn't win this week, I'd be surprised if he doesn't win by the end of this year, or next year at the latest. Having a great game, and having the nerves of steel to actually win under pressure are two different commodities. I know he possesses the former, and I think he'll develop the latter sooner, rather than a lot later.
    Seldom right, never in doubt......

He has a great demeanor and stays focused very well. For such a young guy, he really has a good hold on his temper and emotions.

    But dude needs a haircut.

And that hat looks beyond stupid. It's fine to have your own thing, but you have to have some flair if you depart from normal dress. I guess living in Oklahoma as he did during college eliminated whatever fashion sense one might have.

He's great to watch but that homemade swing puts alot of pressure on his back. I hope he holds up.

It's a cross between Justin Bieber and Fifty Cent. Golf deserves better than this look. The marketers have him convinced it's a good idea. What's next, tattoos on his forearms? Some big azz gold chains to go with the Izod? A Glock inside the waistband of his Sansabelts?

it's dreadful and he will live to regret this silliness. Rapper/Disneyboy is just not the PGA tour look, and never will be.

I saw ighlights of Saturdays round and he looked ridiculous in that bright blue ensemble. Puma is trying to claim a niche of being a young person's brand but I think they are alienating themselves from everyone.

He has the game and the talent to become a great PGA player. I like his "no-fear" attitude, that's how he will win... His no-fear attitude reminds me of the young John Daly when John won the Opens and PGA Champion... unfortunately, John still has the no-fear attitude but his attitude toward his golf game sucks now...

    Look at him today.

I think the local law enforcement people do a double take evrytime he comes in view. He looks like an escapee from a chain gang.

Congratulations to Justin Rose, a worthy victor. Despite the County Jail road gang uniform, dippy hat, and porn star hair do, the kid can play and was entirely capable of having won the tournament. I didn't watch his entire back nine, but the poor tee shots I saw indicate that some blame should attach to his caddie. Hitting a hooked 7 into the back bunker on that par 3 was downright stupid. On the short par 4, maybe 16, he just flat out nailed what looked like a hybrid in the center of the fairway and had a flip wedge in.

crap finish. Barnes I expect it from. He's lurking but not showing the winner's edge ( in spite of playing Wilson irons).

But Fowler is the belle that can't get to the ball. Massive talent, physically the perfect golfer, unbelievable strong and flexible. Not sure the mind will ever cross the line to being a solid winning player at that highest level.

I sem to recall the experts saying this about a certain Spanish player about 10 or so years ago. experience didn't help him get over choking. I didn't watch it but from what has been posted it seems that Fowler took the gas on the back nine, which is the calling card of the choker. Maybe he will learn from it and we can put it down to inexperience, but only time will tell.

He hit one bad shot that lead to a double. That's not exactly choking.

One bad shot at a crucial time on the back nine to throw away the torunament is choking.

    Major difference; Fowler can putt.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't win before the end of the year. Maybe it will be at one of the "lesser" tournaments, but a win is a win.

I will give Fowler the benefit of the doubt over Sergio for the putter. No contest.

I simply tried to channel your work from the Ping thread.

I give Fowler a slight pass on the orange as it is a salute to Oklahoma State, his alma mater. And also because living in Oklahoma has so distorted his judgement it will take him some time to recover.

He'll win for sure. There's really no comparing Fowler with a Spanish pile of vomit.

Speaking of that whining little b!tch, he really seems to have hit a huge crossroads in his golf career. From what I've read the shark's daughter dumping him really hit him hard (she obviously only haqd enough patience to tolerate one choker at the Christmas dinner table), and he seems like he's lost interest in golf. I don't watch much US golf outside the majors and the WGC events, but from what little I've seen he hasn't been anywhere near the top of a leaderboard all year.

I agree, he looks silly. Whatever look he's trying to capture isn't working. He looks too "cute"...like a little boy from Disneyland. That outfit yesterday was so bad.

I agree. With some experience and a few more opportunities he'll get his "w" before long. I was talking to a friend that tried to make a run at the PGA Tour. He commented that just making a top 10 will take so much pressure of the rest of the year. It allows you to play golf and not worry about entry fees, travel costs, etc. It's hard to sit here at my day job and even pretend to have a clue about what kind of pressure most of these guys are under to make cuts and get in the money. The tour chews many good golfers up and spits them out.

There's comments about him being fearless. That may be but he's certainly not reckless. He laid up at times I thought he had a green light to go for it. (Anthony Kim was reckless when he made his splash.) I wasn't too surprised he dumped it in the water after watching the two before him make p!ss poor swings. There really wasn't any pressure on him in his group so it wasn't a good test. I actually thought phat phill might or had a chance if he could put something together. I had my suspicions the last groups wheels were going to get loose or fall off completely.

For what it's worth, I can't stand the flaming orange either, but then again, I'm a Sooner fan and we own the little cowgirls from Stillwater high . . . . .

I wondered how you felt about all that orange. Looks like you may have to get used to seeing it and life without Sam Bradford.

Lorenzo, we Americans know that football is the only REAL sport in the entire universe and that all other sports are secondary. Oklahoma State always wins in golf, but Oklahoma dominates them in football. So far, the little cowgirls haven't used the "well, we beat you in golf," defense with us because they know that golf is not a real sport compared to football. They are our little sister and we kick them around every chance we get.

As for life without Bradford, we went through that last season. I'm not sure this season will be any better unless we can lure some USC linemen away from the Trojans since they are not going to be getting any pus sy for the next few years.

Having spent some time in OK, I'm not convinced the rest of the country shares their priorities.

Knowing something about USC, I suspect the the boosters will make sure the lineman get more p.ussy not less, so as to keep them there.

Call me what you want, doesn't change the facts. He had a lead on the last day and took the gas. He choked. Gagged. Capitulated. End of argument.
