Anything outside of a freekin hurricane will be an improvement from our match. FD has seen the worst. He's a seasoned veteran.....

I'm only now realizing FD is Dave's alter-ego. "Fictional Dave", we should have already figured this out.

Let's all schedule a match with one of our alter-egos and then beat them like a drum.

Let's not tell him we've figured it out. It's more fun to continue to watch him make up stuff.

The excitement is unbelievable You normally only get me up at this time (3.45am) for big rugby matches like the All Blacks vs South Africa or in the UK but this is quality!

Live video streaming is the only thing missing!
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

Fantasy Dave's making an epic charge. Takes a heck of a move to go from 2 down to AS in 1 hole.

What's the over-under on Dave's hotdog consumption at the turn? I'll set the betting line at 3.5.

That's Texas math, Kiwi, remember it is the same state that spawned George W. Bush . . . .

These are the kinds of seemingly minor slips that prove what I'm saying about the match being fictional.

I'd have set o/u at 4.5 (bird gets half of one while Dave's holding the other 4). So I'll take over.

I lipped out my par putt on 17 and fd graciously swiped at his to miss, dave wins 2and 1 ...we came off the course to be sure fd catches his flight.. Didn't play 18, so we'll never know about the 79.....a great day, fd is marvelous company, it was suprisingly hot and humid but overall a wonderful GR day, big dave still undefeated! Even if fd was in jeans, no hat, and my clubs!

Okay, FD's plane is away and mine isn't here yet, so summary time....

Yes, i had an unused southwest ticket and flew in, easier than driving thru center of houston in morning rush... Faster too...

Purist, i only had room for one set of irons and FD requested the Adams, so no blades today.. Although I will bag them at hackerville for sooner rematch...

HB, if you took bets on that over-under, you might want to consider the witless protection program to save yourself from your sucker bettors.. I ate a cinnabun in dfw airport at 6:15 because that was the shortest line, and didn't eat again until 3pm... FD had chips and salsa at his table in Buffalo Wild Wing bar at hobby airport... We didn't stop at turn... Trying to make sure he ccaught his flight home...

I did wonder if he would complete the comeback, as i was going downhill fast in the humidity and heat... Lucky for me, he did too.. :-).

I am not sure i could take him with his own clubs and all... He thinks I could... But some really great shots were struck today on both sides, an enjoyable match on a challenging course with blind shots all over... Takes local knowledge toscore well there... We did well for first time...

I started hot, was one under after three... He was still getting a feel for the clubs... That was my first under 40 nine this year... 39 on front... He was playing catch up, made two birdies.. he made some good progress, just ran out of holes...:-). But it was a nice way to wrap up a business trip for him...

    Congratulations Big Dave!

Still undefeated GR North American Champ.

Whilst I'm pleased for you I feel somewhat saddened at the demise of the 'The Greatest Ball Striker the World has Ever Seen'.

Being 0-2 in GR matchplay diminishes the Famousdavis legend somewhat.
I chose the road less traveled.

Now where the f#ck am I?

He played one match under water giving four a side, and one match with someone else's clubs... I thought he played very well today, made more birdies than I did... I just made a lot of pars... 9 pars, one bird, six bogeys, one X after OB drive... A double by cap rules...

Thanks tho, kp... It was a fun day, well worth the trip, he is a good guy to play golf with.. :-)

Yeah my comment was very much tongue in cheek. FD is obviously a good golfer. Apart from the conditions I think he gave Noshuz 5 a side in his first match. And losing 2 & 1 is a creditable effort after turning up on the fly with borrowed clubs at the tail end of a business trip.

Good on both of you for pulling it off at the last minute. Great entertainment value too. Looking forward to the pics/video now!

Salute big Dave. Nice game, both of you. Although it seemed a little time sensitive for you both. FD might have played a little better with his old, I meen old pings and a familiar set. Obviously it was a course neither of you played.

yeah, unfamiliar territory, and there were some hardcore blind shots, I mean we had to drive down all the way to the GREEN to figure out the line on one of the par 4s.. it was kind of wasteland links, good contours and bumps to spare but also six foot deep bamboo type weeds that obscured the downrange view so badly we were just flying blind... a local knowledge course, probably gotta play six rounds or more before you learn it... one of those "hit it halfway between the electric pole and the oil storage tank, with a draw, and you're golden" kind of shots... we were conservative, laying up, that kind of thing.. and it paid off with pars and birdies... I was very pleased with my 92 yard lob wedge approach to 4 feet on the par 5 number 2 hole... a four footer for bird there, kaboom..

greens to me were very speedy and hard to read... FD thought they were about like his SoCal greens... but in DFW I don't find 'em that fast, usually...

Wildcat golf's Highlands course is a very interesting and challenging layout without being brutal... it's quirky but in a professional sort of way... I'd play it again and again if I was nearby...

on GolfNow you can get on with cart for like $30... well worth it..

He tried to get a later flight so we could relax a bit, but it would have been too much of an upcharge for the company Amex.. :-) so we started early and boogied on down the fairway.. the videotaping and ipad GR typing slowed us down a bit, although the course was empty and we didn't get rushed... the front nine was well documented but we left the camcorder in the cart for several holes on the back, just to keep the speed up...

so no promises on the narrative or the sense of flow of the video, but lots of good swings an pithy comments captured.. .. Should be fun... will post when ready.. :-)

It's all about the camaraderie, and the challenge of a new course, and you had fun. Golf for me at least, has to have these elements. I'm easily bored playing the same course. I think you guys played well on a unfamiliar course. If I'm ever in the Dallas area, I would enjoy a round with you.

Playing from the 6500 gold tees was a bit of fagg move for such a big match.

All my skorts were at the cleaners, so i dressed butch... Btw you forgot to add NTTAWWT...

Golds were one down from tips.. If you guys want us to shoot 90next time, put us on a strange course AND 7100 yards... That will get mr. Natural bichtn for sure.... I thought 6500 was good compromise for a an unknown course..
