Wood Bros. Forged Blades are they the best kept Secret

Ive been playing golf with a new set of irons lately. Wood Bros Forged Blades, and fellas these things are the sweetest irons I have hit to this day. s400 shafts and some lamkin cords and these babies have been pin high ever since. I thought Mizuno Mp series blades felt good but these take feel to a whole new level. And better yet they where brand spankin new with the heads still wrapped in plastic since the frikin early 90's. I could go on all day about theses gorgeous tools of beuty and feel. I Wish they had a circular area for an entrance behind closed doors.

I had a Wood Bros Corker Driver back in 1995. The only problem was that my playing buddies refused to pay their bets at the end of the round complaining that I was cheating by using a corked driver. I responded by telling them that those rules only apply to baseball but they wouldn't listen. What really got them going was the pine tar on my grips.

Do you have a photo of the forged blades? It's too bad Wood Bros went out of buiness. I guess they had no chance even if their products were high end. I remember when their Texan driver was $500.

Did anyone here ever subscribe to a magazine called Club Review? I used to get that back in 1994 and 1995 and then they went out of business. I remembered this when I thought of Wood Bros. One time the magazine pitted the Wood Brothers Kool Cat driver against the Yonex ADX 300. Yonex won but not by much. That was so long ago that one of the first clubs they reviewed was the original Callaway Big Bertha irons.

Do hitting them give you wood? I'm just asking because I sometimes get wood hitting my Mizunos . . . . .

I could have bought a set of those a couple years ago. I was in a warehouse that specialises in building their own (chines sweatshop knock off) branded clubs, but they also have other sets for sale. I had a look at these, and they looked nice but in Oz I'd never heard of them and assumed they were just cheap cast blades.

The only Wood Brothers I know of had a garage outside of Charlotte and were ace NASCAR crewman in the '60's and '70's. Might've run 'shine, too.

That is some nice looking persimmon. I really like the Hogan in the 2nd pic. I miss the sound of a real wood against a rubber ball. Someone once described the sound of a new driver hitting a new ball as a dinner plate being dropped on the floor.
