GR golf showdown?
Since everyone here seems like solid golfers and are great people. I think there needs to be a GR scramble of some kind of championship. Throw in a bit of money, get a trophy and have it annually... What do you guys think?

Too bad, I was very close to taking a consulting gig at Purdue earlier in the summer. I'm in Cincinnati, but traveling for weekend golf isn't in the cards for about the next 5 years.
A few friends of mine go on an annual trip to French Lick. That seems like a pretty kick ass trip. I've also been wanting to play Purgatory in Columbus, IN. I got the chance to play the Brickyard during time trials for the Indy 500. The cars were better than the course.

I wonder how many are in or close to the Mid-Atlantic region.

Any final outside of Branson, MO is not sanctioned by GR.

I'm thinking that if there is a GR tourney with several members attending, it HAS to be in Branson.

Now we're talking. Regional GR matches, culminating in fisticuffs in a dirt lot in Branson. Bonus points if you show up in saddle shoes, jeans, and a homeless guy's pullover.

I think BJ and Big Pun should be the inaugural joint masters of ceremony.

One of the golf forums has done an annual outing in Arizona....The sponsors arrange tee times, hotel accommodations and to a certain point entertainment...the outing consist of a few rounds, usually some sort of team play to make it enjoyable for everyone...and those wo want to play singles, come out a day earlier.
Seems to work out really well.

Any REAL diner worthy of patronising in the USA has its carpark out front so that pickup trucks, motorcyles, muscle cars and hot rods may be displayed whilst their operators "dine".

Or in the spirirt of how it applies to this thread, GR antagonists settling their differences like men can also be viewed by the diners. Quite right Mongrel, my bad on that oversight.

If I ever win the lottery, Australia will be one of my first trips. I'll pay for you, OldPlayer and Kiwi to meet up somewhere and we'll all play golf. We'll even bring along a sheep to help Kiwi feel comfortable.

Bring those Ping Eye 2's shovels for NAH. They're more in keeping with the type of clubs he plays these days.
I chose the road less traveled.

I don't see how a team format would be any fun. That sounds like an idea for a normal forum.

The closest thing we have to a sponsor on GR is either the Russian porn spam threads or one of Larry's claptrap inventions.
Arizona might work well for some pillow talking golf boards that will go nameless, but at GR we play in Branson or nowhere.

I'm disappointed, I would have thought SPCC's would get a nod for local qualifying before the GR Open Championship.

we could do it like Big Brother, where the teammates secretly plot with members of opposing teams to sabotage each other. Stabbing at two footers, "suddenly" hooking out of bounds, leaving one in the bunker... the possibilities are endless.

You can hold on to the driver until we meet again for the rematch. It's not like I want to use it again and it wouldn't be worth it for you to ship it to me. The face was way too closed and the shaft is too whippy. Maybe you could give it to Larry.

Kentucky has some seriously pretty golf course terrain, as well as eastern Tennessee. I may tour next month, Woodford reserves still, probably the best Bourbon on the planet. And play some golf.

You obviously not met many folks from Kentucky. Proud people, with rich heritage, that raise the finest Quarter horses, and the best Bourbon anywhere. Now if you duck hook one 40 yards into the woods.you might find some pot plants.

A little too west. Anyone up for south-southwest Virginia or West Virginia? I may be in central Atlantic coast of Florida in early March for a couple of days.

Old enough to win in a bar fight and wise enough to beware of cheap, loose women.
