TGC Sucks Tiger's ****
The dick sucking that The Golf Channel did of Tiger Woods this morning was absolutely shameful. They cut to Tiger working on the range, putting on the practice green and have followed him endlessly since they began footage this morning. Please give me a break! He's not the best player in golf anymore and why they choose to follow this loser around is beyond me!
P.S. -- They did an interview with Ricky Fowler this morning. They start by saying, "The wind is really laying down today, so do you see a good score for yourself today?" He replies, "I am wearing all pink today and I usually shoot my best scores in pink, so, yes, I do." What a phag.

The only good part about seeing tiger on the coverage right now is that you have a 50-50 chance of see him screw up. Tiger's done, let fowler turn him over.
-
TGC sucks everyone's ****. How about that Charlie Reimer? I bet he'd lick Oprah's ass if she asked him.
-
Brandell Chamblee(?) is the worst-he'd eat a mile of tiger's $h!t just so he could kiss him.

Good ol' woody, 119 out and puts it in the drink-what a JOKE! I LOVE it!
-
HAW, HAW, HAW...good ol' woody never disappoints-in the water AGAIN! Man I could get to rooting for them showing MORE of this stuff! Priceless!

Fowler's goofing on everybody. Do you really think he's taking the clothing thing seriously? He's laughing his way through this and to the bank. Fowler may care what his Ok. St. teamates think but not what you think. So I respect him for having a joke on everybody.

Just watched Bubba hit a risky shot to 18 and then hole a 40 foot birdie putt. I think this guy is the next big thing in golf. He's gaining more confidence and doesn't seem to have any doubt about his ability to hit amazing shots. He'd be my favorite to win the Masters. A few minutes ago watched Tiger woods hit from a sand trap into the water. If he doesn't get his swing corrected very soon he's going to lose it.

I think Bubba's game is too unorthodox and the swing too loose to hold up under pressure for any length of time. He reminds me of big JD, immensely naturally talented and unbeatable when it all comes together for 72 holes, but I don't think he has the game to contend week in week out.

I doubt 24putts meant he'd lick her entire ass. A pack of dogs don't have enough saliva to do that.

I think Bubba is a much better player than JD except when JD was totally on. Golf is so boring now without Tiger winning. I watched yesterday's tournament on my DVR and I couldn't fast forward enough. Dude needs to go back on his hands and knees and beg Butch Harmon to take him back. Tiger's biggest weakness is that he's stubborn and holds a grudge. We all need Tiger more than he's ever needed us. He's given us excitement for the last 13 years when before there was none in golf. Nick Price? Please. Greg Norman? Choker. Nick Faldo? Snore. Tom Kite? Dork. We need you Tiger, but first you need to go back to Harmon. Do it for us, the watchers. That's right, we like to watch.

You didn't answer the question. 4 majors this year?
He'll definitely be on his knees if he goes back to Harmon. The swing Harmon gave him ruined his knee. I wouldn't go back either.
If the broadcasters could stick to showing good golf and not a Tiger lick-a-thon, then yes it would be good to have tiger back in that stalk. But if they are going to show him on every shot even when he's out of contention like they used to, then hell no. Nothing is more boring than watching tiger, in 12th position and 6 shots back, throw grass for 5 minutes only to yank his shot into the bunker. Then they cut to "while we were watching Tiger," (choke his last shot), "the runner up had this putt for eagle to take the outright lead." What a joke. It's not Tigers fault but it sucks just the same. Many of these up and coming golfers will never be seen on TV if tiger even posts a sub par round.

I enjoyed watching Tiger yesterday for the first time in a long time. Specifically, it was his approach on 18 that landed in the water giving him a double bogey and a T24.
But that will do me for a while. Unfortunately trying to avoid seeing near non-stop Tiger coverage on Masters broadcasts won't be possible without a blindfold.

I don't believe that Harmon's swing hurt Tiger's knee. That's a bunch of crap. People tear ligaments in their knees all the time. Sometimes it starts out small and just keeps getting worse. The pressure on his knee is still there even with his current swing. If anything it looks to me like his current swing would be terrible on his back. He doesn't use his hands any more. The one plane swing sucks big time and takes all feel out of the game.

Not close to true. A number of people early on advised against the post-up due to a knee's inability to withstand it over time. One well-known top golf instructor went on record to say it was unconscionable. Classic Jones, Hogan form involves bent front knee at impact not posing anything like the stresses involved with a locked and extended knee.
Agree on the one plane. Combining the one plane with post-up might qualify one for a bulk discount on artificial joints.

Believe what you want but many more qualified than us have the opinion that it ruined his knee.
Since you're avoiding the question I can only assume that your not liking tiger's odds of winning the Master's this year. I think there's a better chance of him winning, let's see, zero major's than tiger winning one major this year.
Let's say he did go back to Harmon. He's got 3 different swing styles rattling around in his head. Plus he's still shackled to Nike equipment including the putter. It would take him another 6 months to make another swing conversion. He's not going back to the snap leg swing. No way, no how.

So, I guess I'm wrong about the knee. Fair enough point. However, I think he needs a looser swing with more hands and more feel. Kind of like the swing he had at the 97 Masters. I don't know what the answer is but the swing he has now looks horrible. I agree there is a better chance at Tiger winning no majors this year than one. Of course that's the case. He can't win a regular tournament or even place in the top 10.

I agree about the feel comment. I think it's a chicken or egg thing though. You have to have a grooved swing that you comes without a swing thought, or maybe many swing thoughts, to use feel. If you are thinking about positions you can't feel anything. Unfortunately he's in the technical part of learning this new swing. Once he's got the motion he should be able to rely on his "feel" more and mechanics less.
I always wonder though. He's very talented but it's one think to grow up with a swing and have it evolve and another to relearn or learn a swing later in life. You have time, desire, expectations, etc to motivate you and to learn that swing when you are young. When your in your mid 30's how much time do you have? How long does it take to not swing the way you did when you grew up. Because breaking a habit in a swing is knowing that it won't rear it's head when I'm under pressure. All it would take is one or two little elements from one of his other two swings to make a mediocre to poor shot.

Another thing to consider is that his short game isn't close to what it was in 2000. He has already reached the magic age of 35 where many a famous golfer's putting became noticeably worse. Watson, Miller, Palmer, Hogan, Nicklaus, Ballesteros (and countless others) all lost their putting around the age of 35. Palmer was like night and day and same with Watson. Watson was probably the fastest drop from best in the world to nothing....and it was all because of his putting. As Harvey Pennick once said, a good putter is a match for anyone and a bad putter is a match for no one.

I'm liking Bubba more and more. One of the announcers over the weekend mentioned that Bubba told him he used to hit wiffle balls when he was young and tries to hit wiffle ball like shots with his real kit. I used to hit tons of wiffle balls. You can really work them. I think Bubba is what Phil tries to be except Phil can pull off crazy short shots with his ultra lofted wedges and Bubba can pull off those shots with his driver. Phil looks like he takes it all very seriously while Bubba has a more carefree attitude. I'd love to see Bubba win one of those real tight-assed majors like the U.S. Open. Just rip a traditional parkland course with pencil-thin fairways and greased-glass greens a new bung-hole. Like at Congressional this coming June.

Wiffle balls are great. They really show the effects of working the ball like mongrel said...high, low , left right. The ones they used to make were thicker and better, The walmart specials are chineese thin plastic crap that dent easy. They are best with no wind.

You know, every 100 posts or so, you have one post that is right on the money. I tell my playing partners all the time, "I'd give my left nut to have a decent putting game." We can talk driver distance, iron accuracy and wedge play until we are blue in the face, but the true stroke shaver in our bag is the putter. Without a good putting game, we are not going to lower our handicaps.

I guy I know hit wiffle balls for hours and hours in his front lawn when he was a young kid. He's 71 years old now and a 3 handicap. Most natural swing you ever saw. I think it makes sense because the only way you can make a wiffle ball go a long way is to really use your whole body as well as your wrists.

It's amazing how much better the pros are at putting. I played yesterday and had one of my best iron games of all time. I was hitting it close all day and I made 3 birdies total. I'm happy about the three birdies but I must have missed another 4 to 6 putts within 10 feet of the hole.
I'm noticing more and more PGA pros using Belly and Long putters. In fact, I've noticed it this year more than ever. Tons of guys are using Belly putters. That pretty boy who won the tournament yesterday was using one. Don't know his name but I'll kick his arse if he shows up around me with a belly putter. I'm a force to be reckoned with.

Last September, I played with a kid who played a half a season on the NIKE tour before he drank his way out of the tour. I just wanted to kick his arse for screwing up his chances at a pro career after watching his game. Whenever he got the ball on the green, you just felt like he was going to sink the putt no matter where he was on the green or how far away he was from the hole. His stroke was so smooth and his eye for a line was the best I have ever personally witnessed. He made it all look so easy. Everyone should play a round with a professional at least once to see poetry in motion.

There is no doubt about this comment, but I'd throw Phil in there as a side kick. Golf without Tiger is boring. The proof is at the majors. The only majors in the last few years that had any excitement were Phil's Masters last year, then you have to go all the way back to Tiger's US Open at Torrey Pines. Who can forget the gallery going up as one in the loudest roar of the week as Tiger double fist pumped after dropping the putt on the 72nd hole to force the playoff. Now that was major golf. Phil gave the crowd some excitement last year with his incrdible shot from the pine straw on 13 to set uop the birdie that effectively won him the tournament. That was the sort of shot you would only see form the extremely talented, iger and JD are the only other golfers who could have pulled off that shot. I honestly cdon't see anything from Tiger to suggest he's going to be a force in the majors this year, so hopefully Phil wil get his game back for Augusta.
From the younger brigade, I think Bubba and Dustin Johnson are the only ones who have anywhere enough game to make the majors interesting again. Shortknockers like McDowell and Oostihuiezen winning any more will be the death of major golf.

I like woody not winning-a certain class and etiquette has been restored (no catcalls from his galleries) to the game. The Open where he had the fake knee injury was okay-woulda been better if Rocco had pulled it out.
Phil will supply us with something to remember again this year at Augusta-something magical happens to him as soon as he drives down Magnolia Lane. He'll be there around the top on Sunday-looking way down the board for tiger-if he plays good enough to make the weekend.
Like you said, Dustin Johnson (who will win Majors-especially at Augusta) and Bubba will always have something to show, and Freddie will always be a contender at The Masters-always. Best month-April, because best major-Masters.
J Miller called it years ago-and wood's putting is GONE-POOF! HAHA! Happy Days are here again...just like the song says........

His gammy knee wouldn't stand up to that. Maybe he'll be on one of those celebrity cokk off shows. What's his specialty again? Fried chicken and collard greens?

That's hilarious. When did this happen? I love it that sergio is going to finish his career as a no major, very few regular tour wins player. When that whiny little biatch hit the scene in the late 90s he was being talked up as a future star and a rivalry with Tiger was bandied about. So far his potential hasn't been fulfilled. He wold have the worst winning record of any 'best golfer in the world not to win a major' ever. By a long way. Although if you are talking wins in America Monty has him covered, he currently stands at zero wins in the states from recollection.

Monty's had so many chances to win US Opens it's almost sickening. Sergio isn't even considered a great golfer any more. I saw a bunch of guys miss short putts yesterday. Bubba missed a 2 footer by pulling it 3 inches left of the hole. I just thought of something. Does Bubba putt right handed?

The US open is littered with great players who never quite won one. Sam Snead conteneded plenty of times but never got the chocolates. Norman threw away plenty of chances, but he choked at every US major so it doesn't really count. More recently Phil seems obsessed with winning it but has choked or been edged out numerous times. My favourite Monty loss, adn there's been plenty, was probably the one at Congreesional when he blubbered on his wife's shoulder after Ernie got him by one shot. Watching Tom Kite defy all logic by coming home under par to beat him in the wind at Pebble Beach also gets an honourable mention. That one was rubbed in by Nicklaus when he congratulated Monty on his victory while Kite was still out on the course.

Everybody has their problems of not winning, including all mentioned above. It would've been kinda cool to see all of them win some to see if they had the class that tigger wood, his caddie 'stevie', and his 'fans' didn't display-when he could play. In reality? I don't care who wins majors-or any tourneys anymore, as long as wood doesn't and his classless, disrespectful honks are gone from the boards and from the galleries-there has been an etiquette restored to the game. AND.....tigger's not even considered a great golfer anymore-why do they keep focusing him on tv? He's an also-ran, a field-filler. Do that many 'recent fans to the game' still watch-if he gets in contention at a lesser tourney are 'they' gonna come out and destroy the atmosphere of great competition? REAL golf fans, lets hope not.......but wood not winning-GREAT STUFF!

I was wondering about that too-missed short putts. I wonder if the greens were not up to Tour Standards?

I know a few guys here keep biatching about Tiger still hogging all the air time, even from mid field, but the TV execs know where their bread is buttered. There can be no doubt that Tiger has brought a generation of new fans to the game, fans who before Tiger would have been watching football or basketball. And it is therefore reasonable to assume that those fans turn the TV on to watch Tiger, not necessarily golf in general. They know that if fans don't get to watch Tiger on TV, they will turn away in droves, and the TV bucks will dry up. Love him or hate him, Tiger is crucial to the game of professional golf from a finanical stand point.

Funny thing, I'm ok if the tour makes less money. And it isn't hard to figure out the American common denominator. If one isn't certain all they need do is tune in the 24 hr Jerry Springer channel and watch grossly overweight buffoons smack each other in the genitalia.
GR lives...
