Has GR become a circle jerk?

As I understand things, GR is no longer accepting new members. I think it was because of the huge amount of spam the site was being bombarded with. Don't get me wrong, I think we still have a great site, but how are we going to remain the refuge for the enlightened without allowing defectors from those other retarded sites? Plus, we haven't told a newbie to shut the fukk up in months. I miss that.

I've been thinking the same thing. New blood is very important. Plus, when you have guys like the Tonger who walk off after 6 holes and then are forced to leave their man card and GR membership at the door along with their nuts you need a replacement plan. Maybe there can be a waiting list? As GR members leave out of shame or sell their memberships the next on the waiting list is initiated. We should be very open to whom we accept. I'd be willing to go so far as to accept people who only have one Ping club in the bag. Now that's what I call acceptance!

I've had an alias waiting for over a month now with no response. It won't be much longer before he gives up and goes over to Shottalk to do his trolling.

I agree. I am tired of schooling the same old members with my high intellectual reasoning. It is time for new meat.

One of the best aspects of GR is our familiarity with each other and the true sense of community we have here with such a small group. Sites like WRX have so many members that personalities get lost in the vast ocean of anonymity, not to mention the mass of sub-forums over there and the 50+ posts/minute you have to deal with. At least on GR, the pace isn't so torrid that you have to skip posts and threads simply due to the sheer volume of material.

I agree that we do need some new blood though. So long as we're able to maintain our abrasive noob hazing routines, we should be able to run off the whiny b!tches and keep this place as alpha-male as possible.

I haven't ridden it much lately as my free time has been taken up by hitting a small, stupid white ball down a nicely mowed lawn.

And what's up with these 'adjustable' drivers?? Just band-aids for golf poseurs with alot of $$??

I was doing a training course the other day and part of it was personality profiling, an abbreviated Myer Brigg thing. Anyway, part of the profiling was to compare your profile with a Simpsons character. My profile was alligned with Kent Brockman. Not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I always liked to see myself as a bit like Wiggam's offsider Lew.

I don't think it means anything to create a profile. First of all, what kind of idiot would put anything real about themselves in their profile. No one with any sense would put their real name out there. I hate forums where you post for the first time and some moron says "where's your profile?".

I saw that Francis Cebedo, my good friend (haven't ridden in his mini cooper in a while; bastard should have gotten an S, but)...

Francois was reading this thread a couple of hours ago, but he doesn't give a rat's ass about this forum... Seriously, he read this thread, I viewed it.

    However, Francis' baby is mtbr.com...

If we want to make changes we need to plan a friendly attack on the mtbr.com forum...

We all need to set up names over there, as this will take a few weeks to get going....

Francis is a great Filipino guy, and he loves bike riding... I love messing with my friend, Francis! This is where the golfreview.com owner lives: http://forums.mtbr.com/

get your aliases set up, and we can set a date...

    This really sucks!

Whilst it's good to build rapport amongst the regulars we really need newbies to bring in fresh ideas, opinions and attitudes. Some don't last long but others become stayers. Also we need new blood to replace members who drop off.

I hope this situation is rectified ASAP.

The only forum I could find on that site to hang out in was the "Beer Forum." I just can't identify with a bunch of guys that like to go around with a bicycle seat jammed up their ass. As further proof of pus.sification of that site, I noticed that they had shut down the "Political-Socio- Economic-Religion" forum. Apparently it got too controversial for them to handle. I see a future where this site will likely be handled in a similar manner. All good things must come to an end, Spank.

I'm presuming the Trek brand is even more of a dis than the "seating." If it were purple we'd be even more impressed. At least it's a hard tail.

Well, back in the day, I was in National magazines several times, (Freestyle Magazine) did shows, signed autographs, and owned Mt. Tamalpais... kicked everyone's ass up and down that little mountain... pipe trail, etc...

I was sponsored and went to L.A. a few times... As I need to remain anonymous, I will refrain from naming all of the tricks I invented, that the kids have built on... My tricks were the cornerstone for future youths... I used to just invent in my mind all day...

I would skate your ass into the ground too... I am old now, but damn I was good.

Was... :-( ... My fifteen minutes of fame was gone 20 years ago...

I have a $400 seat post I can take a picture of: it can't be stolen either... It is on my old mountain bike...

I ride a $5000 Serotta Csi, as well, with mountain bike pedals (the $300 shoes weren't working for me) I also ride my Serotta with Cargo pants and a tee shirt on...

You probably know where I bought my Serotta, and it is near Lombard, relatively speaking...

I was deep in the pro flatland game back in the day... We used to make good money, for us kids, at Fisherman's Wharf, riding our bikes... Tourists once closed down the street, and were directing traffic; they had never seen what we were doing before... Try having rednecks handing you $20 bills when you are 16 years old...

Carl's Jr. at the Embarcadero hated us... Oh yeah, we were riding our bikes up and down the escalators at the Embarcadero, and some security guard was chasing us... good times...

I once played golf with a guy named linonts. He was a chummy little scrapper who could carve a drive like a scalple through a vat of toe jam.

Couldn't be. The guy I knew lost so many times to my Ping Eye 2s and eventually had to be committed. Last I heard he was seen over at loaves and fishes trying to sell bottle caps.
