Robert Duvall Raises $800,000 for Romney Campaign

Oscar-winning actor Robert Duvall threw a top-dollar fundraiser at his Virginia farm, attracting Ann Romney and bringing in more than $800,000 for her husband, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The event was held on Thursday night, Politico reports. The cost ranged from $2,500 per person to attend the reception to $25,000 a head for dinner at Duvall’s home, The Hill reports.

The money raised went to the Romney Victory Fund.

Duvall, 81, is a long-standing Republican supporter, who was invited to George W. Bush's inauguration in 2001. After initially endorsing Rudy Giuliani for the 2008 nomination he voiced many videos for the Republican National Convention and appeared on stage with John McCain and Sarah Palin at a rally in New Mexico.

The fund-raiser occurred on the same night President Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for a second term at the party’s convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Larry (if we can't have John Wayne, we'll take Clinton and Duvall!)
