My swing on video
Well, at the risk of abject humiliation and unending mockery, I just got a new digicam with a movie mode, so I figured I'd take a couple quick clips of my swing.
I think the tempo was a bit faster than normal because of the time pressure of the camera - I only have a 16mb card at the moment, which means only 26 seconds of video, which means I better hurry it up. The swing isn't the place to do it, but tell my body that when I'm rushing.
Anyhow, here it is:

Torture freely! (In other words, I can take constructive criticism)
Also, both shots are with a pitching wedge (Mizuno MX23). And yes, I know I pulled it in the first one and no, I don't know why I weakened my grip so much in the second one after I was holding it just fine at the beginning. Plus, I just noticed that it looks like I'm just gripping that thing as tight as can be in the second one - I don't know if I was, but it looks that way at least.
And yes, I also know I need to lose weight.

Looks good to me, and you don't look overweight either. Nice swing.

Thanks, it needs work, but it's coming along.

Looks good to me. It looks like you stay within yourself very well in the swing.

can you make quicktime movies please? I cant view them.

I like your strides, the orange triangle looks cool...
You know me you know the score. Keep them satisfied in bed and they wont bother your golf - wise words from The Master, Feb. '05

I don't use QT - the native format from the camera is avi, so I have that as well, just that the wmvs are much smaller.

are you referring to my pantaloons? they're sexy!

The grip sort of bugs me. It's way too strong imo. I think you'd have more control over the
ball if the back of the left hand was turned an inch or so to the left.
But, that's just me. I know a lot of great players like Paul Azinger use a strong grip.
Other than that, looks good...

That's strong? I thought it was weak - shows how much I know, hah.
But yeah, I don't think I normally grip it like that. If I do, it's definitely something to work on because it's probably leading to some of my ball flight failures.

Just looked at the picture, not the videos yet. You need to shift your left hip forward and lower the right shoulder a little more. You look prone to a reverse pivot in that position.

Interesting, what do you mean by shifting my left hip forward? When I watch your video, I don't notice a tangible difference in hip position, so maybe I don't understand what you mean...?

I was surfing through golf articles yesterday and came across one on grip. Since I had recently read this thread, I gave it a go. It described the 3 grip types. I'm thinking strong, weak and neutral, right? No. Strong, weak and modern. When the hell did they sneak a new grip in on me, and what makes it so modern? And what is this modern grip? It looks like our distinguished friend in thge above video.
Way strong, hands forward (arms and club in straight line). Every time I ever tried to hit like that, I suffered very eliptical ballflight, invariably ending up in the lefthand parking lot of the range. I must have neutral grip, but apparently the above grip has become acceptable and taught.
