new iron opinions
Would like some opinions for Ping G2 vs Callaway x16..thanx

One of the guys...
...I usually play with just got X-16's this year. Trying his, I thought they were relly fine clubs...very easy to hit and quite forgiving. They set-up very well (Callaway irons always do for me) and feel very solid. His only gripe was that he couldn't shape a fade like he used to. But he does hit 'em really straight. I think they're really nice as well.
On a side note, I recommend looking into the X-14's if you really are interested in the X-16's. My father played with the X-14's (Pro Series) and I found the newer X-16 to be not much different. Currently, many retailers have the X-14 models for less than $500 for a new set. That's a really good steal, especially if you can get the Pro Series for that price. The difference is you get a slightly thinner top-line, a bit less offset and a much better shaft (Rifle shafts vs. Callaway steel).
Any way you go, the "X" clubs are a really nice iron set that will work for a lot of golfers.

In this case, I'd say that the clubs both have similar performance, it's a matter of athesthetics.

I think you are right 1 iron...
...as a matter of fact, about the asthetics, I really do like the look of the X-14's much more. They have a more "filled-in" look to them, making them look much more like a "player's" club. The undecut and cavity on them is not nearly as pronounced as on the X-16. The larger cavity and undercut of the X-16 didn't seem to play all that much different over the X-14.
But of course, this is just my opinion. Hit 'em well...
