Rifle Project-X Shaft
Dear All,
I need help.
I live in Asia, and have very little opportunity to test new shaft.
I demo a lot, but only Driver and Irons with Stock Shaft, which is why I need all your Help.
I've read a lot about Project X Rifle Shaft.
Did anyone ever used/demo them before, if so, how it's like?
What's the trajetory, does it feel heavy, how's the shot dispersion when you put on a good swing, etc?
Thanks,
Sam

I had a set of Project X's in Hogan FTX's, and had mixed feelings about them. They are a little bit lighter than many steel shafts from True Temper and Rifle, but they play quite stiff to flex. They are really good shafts if you dig and take a significant divot. They like to be loaded with ground contact. If you are more of a sweeper, they will feel quite harsh. To me, anything but a really flush, perfectly hit downswing felt harsh. I pulled them out and sold them on e-bay. I've hit Dynamic Golds and Rifle iron shafts I like better. Currently, I am really enjoying a set of True Temper Tour Concepts I got put into a set of Bridgestone J33 Combos. It's the best head/shaft combination to date for this "club ho". I had them made by Paul at Shreveport Golf. He does outstanding work and is very approachable and is an easy to deal with.
Seldom right, never in doubt......

Project X
Thank you.
BTW, what flex did you use?
Because 5.5 is only 115 grams
6.0 and 6.5 are 125 grams
I'm thinking 6.5.
Also, Bridgestone's Iron has a VERY High reputation in Japan, my Japanese Friend told me they prefer Bridgestone's Iron over Mizuno.
I've got the Japanese Version of the J33, and the Hybrid 2 Iron is especally great, don't know what it is called in U.S., but a VERY beautiful club and Appleby is using them.
I'll think about the Project X in the meantime.

I used 5.5's, but they played more like a 6.0 or stiffer Rifle, and felt stiffer than a Dynamic Gold S300.

I've heard that Project X's can play up to 1.5 stiffer than normal...so a 5.0 could play like a 6.5
"You ever been on a shrimp boat?"
"No, but I've been on a real big boat."
