swing weight question
i've recently cut the shaft of my driver down from 45" to 44". The clubmaker told me to get the swing weight checked? would cutting an inch of the shaft effect the swing weight? why is this important? thanks everyone.

Cutting an inch probably isn't a big deal. Swing weight is the relative weight of the head vs. the grip end. In an ideal world all the clubs would have the same feel being the swing weight is the same and the total weight the same.
The total weight could matter more. A telephone pole can be a D1 swing weight if the weight is distrubuted properly, but not one person could pick it up let alone swing it.
If you can't feel the difference I wouldn't worry about it. If it bothers you have it checked and a little lead tape should do the trick.
Cheers,
Jay

I agree with college, I've always thought total weight was more important than swing weight. Oddly, I seem to like a lighter swing weight, but a heavier club. That's what works best for me. Good luck.
