    Shortening A Ping Putter.

    Hey Guys,

I have an old Ping Answer 2 putter at home that I love the feel of but had retired due to the fact that at 35.5 inches its just too long for me (I'm 5' 10"). Having done a static fit on the Ping website my ideal suggested length is 34 inches, so I was thinking about just removing the grip & sawing an inch and a half off the top of the putter before having it regripped.

My question is: Is it ok to go about shortening a putter this way? How will it effect the balance etc? Seeing as how it's only an inch and a half my gut feeling is that any difference in balance etc will be negligible but I have to defer to your greater knowledge on this as I have no experience of club building. Would it be better just to replace the whole putter shaft?

    Thanks.

I say give it a go. What can it hurt? You could always by a 34" putter shaft and replace the 35.5" shaft if you're worried it might hurt it's value in the future.
