When was this forum started?
Just wondering how long this forum has been going? Anyone here from when it started? I just joined in April but have learned a lot from most of you all. This is a great site for all of us golf addicts so thanks to the founders!!

What rock have you been under for the last 5 or 6 years?
This site started when fred da turd needed a forum to let us all know what golftards we are.
You can't handle the past.

I just started playing in April '05. I was into other things til I quit doing drugs and drinking. I needed something to replace the drug addiction and got hooked on golf.

To answer your question the WEBSITE started in 2000 and they added a forum in 2001. We had the "Glory Days" in 2004 and in 2005 the forum sank into a mean fighting hell hole after many members were banned by a moderator. In late 05 many of the member's bans were lifted, but they didn't use their posting ability to their advantage and really didn't post much. I, tommysels, and BPC were all moderators in late 05 and after I left in late 05 the forum went back to a primarily golf forum instead of bickering and fighting. I rarely post now along with Tommysels (Sels41 now).... Tom asked to be banned because he didn't want to post here anymore and then when he did want to again he had to use his secondary hense the low post count. It's been fun.

Good question. I guess it's sort of like Buddhist monks lighting themselves on fire to protest something. Sort of a symbolic but totally useless act, other than for propaganda value.
If someone doesn't want to be on the board, all they have to do is quit visiting it and stop posting. One doesn't have to call attention to the fact that they aren't going to be around any more.
Seldom right, never in doubt......

Thank you for asking the obvious. I resisted. Seems kinda like admiting that you have no control over your own actions. Which may obviously be the case, to then come back as an alter-ego that did not stand behind the initial intentions.

Although this would probably be more closely related if the Buddhist Monk had a fire extinguisher in the other hand when they did the act, or simply wore a fire protective jumpsuit.

He banned himself because he didn't want to post here anymore.

Couldn't Tom have just done that anyway? Seems a bit attention seeking to me.........

I don't think he could resist returning or something so he had to keep himself away by banning himself.
