    Cobra HS9 Driver

What's the story with this club? They're still advertising the Speed series on the Golf Channel. Was the Speed Series a dismal failure so they had to release another club to generate some buzz?

BTW, I demo'd the Speed series (among many others) before purchasing my Nike SQ. I hated the way it looked at address. I hated the way it felt and I didn't hit it very well. I don't remember anybody ever saying they loved the Speed series...

Anybody else have any comments on this?

Cobra drivers always felt dead to me. I have heard that the new speed series are actually pretty good. I like you felt victim to greatness of the SQ! LOL

Just seen it. It's obviously Cobra's 'XD' version of the Speed Series drivers. Some speed holes on the side as well.

yeah man that SQ is something else. I was reluctant to buy it because it's so crazy looking. But after I demo'd a ton of drivers I hit it the best. A nice, easy swing is all I need to put the ball 250 down the middle

I played a Cobra 460 SZ for two years and it's twice the club that the Speed series is. The feel is dead, distance is average, and it sounded like someone dropping an empty can on a sidewalk.

Hmmm... I demoed the Fspeed with an NV-Stiff. It was by far the loudest driver I've ever hit. I also had the fastest swing speed I've ever recorded at 116. The SQ on the other hand I hit twice on the same hole. Ball went 200yds. high and 220 out. I then hit a 3rd (the real one) and put it 40yds. further with my R7.

Try the Callaway 460X tour. Ear piercing loud.

I HATE the sound of the 460X. It's like hitting with an aluminum bat.

Yeah that head cover is pretty sweet. I hate the two depressions on the top of the club (the regular speed series has those two, I think). It's distracting.

Not to get off topic here, but I'm not a big fan of the SQ head cover. That thing is a PITA to get on and off. It seems like that head cover going to be all stretched out ruined by the end of the summer. Titleist clubs always have great head covers...

Not the 905T. That thing was a total SOB to get off and on.

The thing I dont like about the Cobra cover (the ping G2's were the same) is that they dont have the sock part to protect the shaft. This IMO is a must.

That has always turned my off about Cobra Drivers, they look even worse with the composite crown models

Amen to that... We just got 3 HS9 drivers in our shop today.. I demo'd one of them, I dont remember the type of shaft but I found it very very sloppy. It hits nicely tho. I wouldnt recomend it with the $300+ price tag.
