I prefer (and have) the original White Hot. Never really understood the reasoning behind the steel insert. The 2 reasons the White Hot 2 Ball became the #1 selling putter were the alignment aid and the soft insert. I play on courses with pretty hard and fast greens (dry and windy here), so if I'm above the hole, I like the soft feel on slippery downhill putts.
Only drawback is on REEEEEEALLLLLLLY long putts you have to smash the ball to get it go (>60 feet), so try to keep your putts shorter than that.
