driver shaft length...?
according to the PGA site for tips on equipment, generally, a player using a standard 38" 5-iron should swing a 43.5" long driver shaft, with 1" increments on the FW woods, asuming that the flex has been fitted to swing tempo.
also, according to Golf Digest, average 17 HI player's drive is 198 yards, but is claimed as 227 yards.
I had lengthed my driver back to 45" standard, but i've noticed that my drives were no longer than when at 43", but I'm hooking or slicing more often.
gripping down on the driver a bit feels and looks awkward.
looks like i need to get myself properly fitted and my swing checked, by my pro.
has anyone else tried out different driver lengths?
golf's a relaxing betting game.

In a book I have Fred Couples - Total Shot Making (1994/95), he talks about his driver which at the time was 43 1/2 (steel). He currently uses a 44 1/2 (graphite).
I used to use a 43 1/2 (steel), but am now using a 46 (graphite) which came as stock length. Its easy to hit long, but feels like I am miles from the ball and I am sure that my accuracy could be better. I had a shaft fitting last week but it was more focused on irons, but I think I will speak to him about the possibility of having the driver shortend. My Callaway Steelhead 3w is 42.5 and very straight.

The longer the shaft, the greater the possibility for a long drive. (physics)
The longer the shaft, the greater the possibility for a long drive in the rough. (skill)
