I'd recommend 43.72364". No more, no less.......
With this magic number, it makes no difference about height, skill level, swing weights, or personal preferences.
    Seldom right, never in doubt......

That all depends on which club you're discussing.

Personally, I have a 42" shaft in my pitching wedge, which allows me to hit it 160 yds, with an 85% swing, of course. I guess I could hit it farther if I tried, but I prefer control.

Thats a very simple question.....the one you hit the best and straightest...remember 300 yards isn't much good if you are 50 yards into the trees......

The advantage is that I can wear certain other people's bermuda shorts as regular slacks, and I can roll down a hill very easily, saving wear and tear on my knees and hips.........

Another advantage of this body type: sometimes I leave a putt just hanging on the edge, but as I walk over toward the cup, the vibrations often nudge the ball into the hole.........

Ahh but what about when you're playing courses with a lot of steep hills? How do you deal with the upslopes?

That's when the farting comes in handy, though obviously proper spatial orientation is vital to avoid being propelled down the hill instead of up.........

a salesman at edwinwatts told me for every one inch you cut down, you lose about 10 yards but that may be made up by hitting the sweet spot more often. I guess they say it's better because with shorter shaft, you're more likely to hit the sweet spot more often. I'm getting one of my drivers cut down one inch. will let you know if I hit more sweet spot.
