    MX-17 vs. MX-23

Looking to purchase my first game improvement irons and have read many positive comments on the Mizuno MX-17s and MX-23s. But I've been unable to get a good feel for the significant differences between the two. Any help would be appreciated.

    IIRC, the main diferences are:
MX-17 have wider sole, deeper caivity, slightly larger topline, and are cast.

MX-23 are forged, smaller cavity, slightly less offset, narrower sole.

You may or may not be one of those people who swears that forged irons 'feel' softer at impact, so if you can , demo both.

The mx-17's are available in my area for < $399 new, whereas mx-23's are $699 or so.

As the previous poster siad, the MX17's have a wider sole...but let me assure you that it is WIDE. If you have issues hitting shots fat, then they may be fore you. But in my opinion, the soles of the MX23's (which is wider than a traditional blade, but not near as wide as the MX17) should be sufficient.
