Bounce in wedges?
I was just wondering what the best bounce for wedges would be for me? I am more of a sweeper and I don't take much of a divot, any help would be great? I don't quite understand the whole bounce thing.

Low bounce wedges tend to dig, while wedges with more bounce will deflect more, or bounce more, off the ground. So I would guess that if you're a sweeper with a shallow swing, you would want high bounce wedges.

im more of a 'sweeper' and i actually prefer less bounce
but it depends on the sand
if im playing somewhere w/ very fine grain sand than i always hit my 56 from bunkers because it has a lot of bounce, but if the sand is not so fine then i use my 60 because i actually think the bounce screws me up if is actually bounces in thick sand

I am definately a steeper, I hoe out craters. When i do a "regular" swing on a green side bunker with a 6o* loft 6* bounce Lob Wedge, I at times dig deep. When my Sand Wedge was 58*/12* was easier to get out. Lately, I've been stroking soft wedge shots from green side bunkers (and also from around the greeside roughs) to excellent results, sometimes for one putt. So I changed my Sand Wedge to 54*/8* to reduce the 45 yard gap from my 48*/8* Pitch Wedge that does 135 yards and brought backin my 60* Wedge...as my wedge touch feels ready for it.
golf's a relaxing betting game.

You would actually have to indicate whether you are looking for a SW, GW, or LW, and what kind of turf and/or sand you normally play. i.e. hardpan or country club watered soft, fluffy sand or gritty hard, in between? Even with that recommendations would only be generally valid, picking a specific bounce for a specific wedge and the conditions you play should be picked with somewhat more care than the recommendations you could expect from around here.

Cleveland used to have a bit of a tutorial about bounce and camber, but I don't see it on their present website.
Scratch Golf has a good tutorial about wedge design.

Wrong!!!...you want less bounce... if you have high bounce with a shallow swing as soon as it hits the ground a little behind the ball the bounce will cause the wedge to bounce into the ball which equals skulled shot....LOW BOUNCE is the answer...
and quite personally i really dont see a need for high bounce... i have a steep swing and my low bounce wedge is my favorite.

Depends on the sand in your home course bunkers and how soft the turf is,these 2 things are more important that how shallow your swing is.
