Very similar climate to Cincinnati. We basically have nothing here (no beaches, no mountains, etc.). The only tolerable aspect is that the weather never stays unbearably cold.
Isn't Charleston expensive?

No not really....you can get a single family home detached with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths for 150,000 or less easily.......I lived there before moving here, well houston then here, and I wish I would have stayed there.
the only negative thing about charleston is the job market isn't superb....

Well, that and the 10,000% humidity and mosquitos between June and October. I live up the coast in NC and the job market here sucks for techies like me (so I own my own company). However, we only have about 3-4 weeks each year where it's just too hot and muggy to slog around the course.
Lemonhead.

I would have to agree that the mosquitos can ruin your day quicker than most anything else....but the humidity which is definately a factor to be considered is fairly tolerable for me being from the gulf coast my whole life, it's cold that kicks my butt.
I am finishing up my business degree right now so hopefully that will open some new doors for me....I have a friend up here that works for I.N.S. and he just picked up a job as a special agent in Charleston paying 60,000 plus....that's plenty to live more than comfortably in the carolina's......
I miss the smiling faces and beautiful places...
ohh and the mind boggling golfing oppurtunities......they don't call it the golf capitol for nothing....

The joy of playing a round in short sleeves on Christmas Eve cannot be understated.
I lived in the Carolinas (Raleigh, Charlotte) for several years, and the ability to play through the whole winter was great. it wasn't the cold that stopped you from playing during the winter, it was the rain.
You could always look at the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham, NC) for a possible relocation. Cost of living is not bad, and there are beaucoup courses to play. The drawback is that everybody plays, so you're looking at typical times on Fri-Sun of 5 hours to play the better courses, 4.5 hours for the lesser quality ones.
