is that rust all down the end of the shaft?

i say one piece milled is the way to go... inserts are akin to hybrids, shovels, and winn grips

no thats not rust just a reflection of the carpet i think, it is milled, and it doesnt have an insert...every putter i have owned and will own will not have an insert... that it Bob Bettinardi's trademark honeycomb face it feels really good off the ball... BTW this is the same putter as the mizuno C-Series just under the ben hogan name...

Here are some pictures that are of better quality, for those who are sticklers for proper photography techniques.

I guess it's just the nature of things. I get ahold of a different putter every six months or so, but always go back to my non-insert Newport 2. You'd think I'd learn. If there's a problem with my putting, I need to fix my stroke, not buy a new putter. That said, sometimes the stroke comes back with the temporary use of a new putter, almost like a training aid.

Now we've made this a sticky? It's like an ode to a marketing genius. Sort of like how Starbucks took over the world by tripling the price of coffee.

Is Tim Hortons a big fad with anyone here? Where I live, its like a city wide addiction that I havent gotten involved in.

No. A better analogy would be rain on your wedding day or a no smoking sign on your cigarette break. Or ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.

    PS
That could be up there with the Camilo thread in terms of gayness.

Aw, come on. Take a look at some of these putters. Look at Omen's. Speaking as an Italian, there's just poetry in certain things. Like a beautiful woman. Like a great glass of wine. Like a crushed drive. A stiffed iron shot. Or a hot, sexy woman. Oh wait, I guess I covered that already. I don't appreciate everything, but that which I don't appreciate, those who do aren't necessarily gay.

We aren't talking about a male object here. A great putter is more like a woman ina your hands.

Those are some very fine looking putters, especially the one with the bronze finish, it looks exactly like the studio style, but better.

Yeah, right. Here's what I found out. They made 2007 of them. They sold out in the first 10 minutes. The Southern Cal sales rep that sells to all of the clubs in the area only got two. They are available on E-Bay for around $500-$800US.

So even if you're willing to pay the freight (why would you?) it's a collectors item most buyers are putting away in their collection. Ah, fungu Scotty Cameron!!!

Yeah it's mine, I love it. I got it when I was most obsessed (not nearly as into golf anymore), but still cherish it and look forward to using it next season (I am playing for my college resume and for the good of the team). I was really nervous about buying it, because the only experience I had, had with a slighter was with a man I met at a course. They say you should never buy something you have never tested yourself, but it has amazing feel and I love looking down at that little BS every time I line up. Slighter was really flexible too, good business man, I highly recommend it.

What's with this hom0 erotic obsession with Scotty Cameron putters anyway? They seem to be the only putter low markers who have all the latest gear want to have these days. Before Tiger started using one, everyone who was anyone had a Ping putter in the bag (including Tiger). Most Scotty designs are just shameless copies of the original Ping Anser. Cameron has never had an original thought enter his head when it comes to making putters. He just copies other peoples stuff, hypes it up, puts his stamp on it, and jacks the price up so high that it appeals to elitist suckers. His stuff is now mass produced factory crap, but still has the arthouse price tag. Bettinardi has forgotten more about making putters than Cameron will ever learn, and produces much better quality putters with stricter tolerances than Scotties by keeping his operation small enough to retain control.

From all the pics on this thread the best looking putter is Pingmans Bettinardi, with the Slighter getting an honourable mention. If you just want a good, middle of the road Anser copy that feels good and gets the job done, you should do what I did and get a Teardrop at about half the price of a Scotty. I've used it next to a Scotty of the same style and mine felt slightly better.

I agree Not A Hacker, I think the best looking putter that you can get now is the new Ping Redwood, It is fairly expensive but I believe that it is slightly cheaper then a scotty.

But the Ping Redwood has no wood in it at all, never mind no redwood. I can't trust a putter to make putts when it's so badly misnamed. I can't trust a company that would make such an obvious blunder.

The next thing you know, they'll start calling their cavity back shovels blades. Well, I'm getting carried away, noone would stoop that low.

(Mom joke disclaimer on the no wood in it thing, on the cheaper than thing, on the misnamed thing, on the blunder thing, on the carried away thing and on the stooped so low thing.)

Don't let the rest of the posters here know that your description is equally apt for Scotty's Pingman. They will be upset to know they have paid $200 plus for a Ping 'knock off'.

I've demoed Yes putters and they are nothing like Ping in feel or performance. Yes are THE best feeling and rolling putters out there IMO. They are extremely consistent and put a good roll on the ball every time. The only thing that has stopped me so far from getting one is trying to arrange finance (getting permission from the other half), but unless I get settled on one of my current putters I can see the day will come when I cave in and get a Tracy II, which is a classic blade similar to the Scotty Newport 2.5. I could have got one second hand last year for $125 but I baulked and when I called back in a couple of days it was gone. I still kick myself.

Like many golfers I too struggle in the putting department. As long as you play the game, I think you'll have trouble with putting, but so be it, I'm already hooked for life!! I have had many putters in my young golfing career. I quickly learned i don't like blades, they don't suit my swing. I also learned that centre shafted putters got my eyes over the ball with much ease. That takes us to my three most recent putters. An Older White Hot 2-ball, but like others the insert lead to its fall from grace. I really liked the weight of the Ping Craz-e I had next, and the insert was much better compared to the White Hot, but it still just wasn't right. When Natalie came into my life (a YES C-groove putter) it was like a prayer had been answered!! I'm not trying to say that I became a putting god or anything overnight, but these putters really do improve your putting noticeably. Putts never are left short anymore, I owe that to the C-grooves for sure. and not having an insert is yet another blessing.
Yes putters are worth their weight in gold! The new Rife putters come close I'd say, but nothing beats the originator of the technology. I would highly recommend getting a YES putter, you wouldn't regret it that's for sure. Especially if you are thinking of getting a new putter. For sure give a YES a try!!

Have the original anser, a teardrop and my scotty, i love the anser and the scotty but i think the scotty feels so much nicer it could be because that putter was given to me by my dad and it's from the 80's i think...anyway just thought i would say that i want to try a yes putter but haven't gotten my hands on it yet. does anybody think it's worth it?

I'm not sure what model to recommend, but make sure you save some funds for model paint. If you'd like to know what colors to go with, there are people here that can help you.

I played with my new Ping Craz-E G10 putter today. I love the balance and the alignment, but the putter face is hotter than what I am use to with the Forged YES Callie. I think it is going to be better for my putting game eventually, I just need to put the time in on the putting green.
