Golf specific exercise classes
How seriously do you take your fitness/flexibilty with regards golf?
Do any of you go to a specific class at your gym where it is like golf specific circuit training?

Pretty seriously
Ever since I decided to try to begin competeting at a pro level I've been taking it quite seriously. The hardest part about conditioning is finding a routine that will not interfere with your swing work. Flexibility is the number one aspect of a golf oriented workout routines. Shoulder turn promotes a larger arc which gives you club head speed and better distance. I also do hand eye type stuff, and A LOT of core/ab training. Whenever I play I walk. Usually don't carry the bag, just let someone else drive and walk along. Golf is meant to be a walking sport. It's so much more enjoyable. Cardio is important, but not so much as the flexibility and core training. Also, when you learn to focus on different muscle regions and their impact on the golf swing, you gain a better understanding of your swing and things you may be doing wrong. If you want a specific routine, email or private message me. Oh, and I forgot....the momentus driver (the heavier the weight the better).

Not often though
According to the modified rules you only have to play it that way 85% of the time.

True True..but then there is injury prevention which can make your long term enjoyment better with age. Increased clunhead speed leading to longer drives. Greater stabilisation in your posture leading to more consistency....oh yeah, and a we bit of pride in your body

Well... I just got a book for Chrsitmas called Get Yourself in Golf Shape for Christmas and come tomorrow, I'm devoting myself to getting into better golf, and more importantly all-around shape. Therfore, I beleive that Get Yourself In Golf Shape is a good spot to start when looking for golf specific exercises.

Core Performance by Mark Verstegen is also a fantastic book, great workout systems. Takes about 3 weeks to get a grasp of the exact feelings and memories of the exercises and in this period the workouts take a long time. But once you are up to speed its unbelievable for flexibility and upper body/ lower body seperation. What Cardio does that book recommend?

Not much about cardio in there... but the last chapter is all about streches that I find really helpful
